Remember
The present U.S. administration wants you to be overwhelmed.  They want you to burn out.  They want to swamp you with bad news so that you don’t know where to turn or how to fight back, or whether you have the energy to be effective.
A suggestion: for every piece of bad news you reblog, reblog something about resistance.  Reblog something about how people are building something, in direct contrast to those who are trying to tear us down.  Reblog something that lifts your spirits and reminds you why we fight.
Do not do their work for them.  Consciously choose to reblog light as well as the important news of what the administration is up to.
They do not get to make us despair.

7 Herbs Known to Help Induce Prophetic Dreams (that don't cost an arm and a leg!)
When we say ’prophetic dreams’, we are talking of dreams that allow us a glimpse into the future. They may be vivid, or perhaps a mere clue amongst a sea of confusing subconscious flashes and imagery. The following herbs amplify and enhance psychic power and induce prophetic dreams:
Bay Leaves: place beneath your pillow before you go to sleep.
Heliotrope: place the leaves under your pillow before sleeping.
Jasmine: burn the dried flowers in an incense burner prior to sleeping.
Marigold: scatter the flowers in or around the bed before you go to sleep.
Mimosa: fill a bag with the flowers and place under ypur pillow - the colours blue and yellow are often connected to psychic awareness.
Mugwort: filling a bag and placing under the pillow or drinking this as a tea are very effective methods when it comes to inducing dreams.
Peppermint: fill a bag with the leaves and place it underneath your pillow. You can also drink peppermint tea prior to sleeping.

Hex for 2017
You know that old saying, “desperate times, desperate measures” ? Well, it’s pretty accurate in this instance. I like to think of myself as a pretty positive person, as I believe any energy you put out into the universe will eventually come back to you. But in this instance, I’m willing to risk it.
Let me be perfectly clear: This is not a curse.
What’s the difference?
Curses are very powerful, can last for very long periods of time, and can essentially destroy a person. While I don’t condemn witches who do curse, and think there are times when it may be necessary, I don’t feel ready to mess with that kind of power yet.
Hexes, on the other hand, are like a deterrent. The person or group you are hexing will feel like they’re moving through glue, like none of their actions have a large effect. It’s annoying and an inconvenience, but won’t completely ruin their life. For me, hexes are the equivalent of “do no harm, but take no shit”. And if you’re hesitant about working with negative energy, a minor hex might be a good place to start.
You will need:
Paper and pencil
Clear quartz- or other energy amplifier
Loud music- to add negative intent
Protective sigil, pendant, charm, etc
Scissors or a knife (optional)- to cast the hex
Matches or a lighter (optional)- to cast the hex
First, begin by casting a circle of protection around yourself. You could do this by wearing a protective sigil or pendant, sprinkling salt water around yourself, or other means of protection. You want to be crystal clear on where the negative energy is going- and it’s not towards you. Do not skip this step.
Next, play your loud music to add negative emotions, energy, and intent to the space. Think about people you want to deter or slow down in 2017. Picture every action of theirs being thwarted or delayed for as long as possible, and that their lives are peppered with minor annoyances. Be specific- you don’t want to hex anyone you don’t intend to.
Examples could be:
The Trump administration
The KKK/other hate groups
Anti-LGBT groups
People who support “religious freedom” but only if that religion is Christianity
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist individuals/groups
Write their names down on the piece of paper; again, be very clear and write neatly. At the bottom, draw disruptive sigils or write a binding message. The one I used was this:
“In the coming year, let every pebble be a boulder and every molehill be a mountain. May they feel stuck, endlessly pushing for very little gain. May their words fall on silent ears, and their hateful speech lose its power. And it harm none, so mote it be.”
Afterwards, destroy the paper. Shred it, tear it into pieces, flush it, set it on fire (safely!) whatever you would like to ruin the paper. With that, the hex is cast.
Finally- cleanse yourself and your materials. Clean and charge any crystals or other tools you used, including yourself. You don’t want any wayward negative energy to stick to you. Don’t skip this step either. You don’t want to use your favorite quartz for another spell and have everything go wrong.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Remember, as witches, we are never powerless. We can use our powers to increase the good in the world, and knock those who wish to do bad down a peg.
Happy New Year and many blessings!- Kate

Protection Spell: "My Blood is Armour"
A spell to protect you from negativity and weakness, to reinforce your emotional armour. To protect you from harm that comes from within.
Ingredients:
Black pepper, lime, garlic
Red pen
Red cloth
Red ribbon (or scrap of cloth, elastic, string)
Needle and thread (or staples, glue)
Blood/red paint/red ink
Method:
Cut a square of fabric and sew it into a pouch. While sewing, focus on your intent. Stuff the pouch with your herbs, and sew it shut.
Sew or otherwise attach a length of ribbon to either side of the pouch. You should be able to tie them together around your forearm.
This is your first shield.
Write the phrase “My blood is armour” in a circle around your non-dominant arm (left, for most people) where you will tie the shield. Repeat it if necessary.
Along the back of your arm, smear the blood/paint/ink, preferably into a rough square shape.
The blood and words together form your second shield.
Tie the cloth shield in place, over the blood shield, while repeating the words “My blood is armour”, and focusing on being protected from negativity and weakness.
I realize the phrasing is a little obscure and definitely use a different chant if you prefer. I used this chant because of the idea of having armour under your skin, having armour to protect you from within. Also, I actually use the Sindarin translation “Gerin sereg nin sui ambath nin”, which is more exactly I have my blood as my armour.

When you’re raised in a family that believes more in how the planets align than the concept of God, you have to learn how to pray to yourself. At six years old, this comes in the form of sleepless nights crying about how you don’t know how to love a body that isn’t even sure that it wants to be a body. There’s days I scrub at this skin until it’s an aching kind of red. The bleach always looks too tempting when you want to mold your organs into something smaller. I always want to be smaller, less and less, until everyone is satisfied. I can’t look in the mirror and accept that I’m my own God. That I can wipe myself out if I flick my wrist just right. I’m staying underwater until I turn as blue as I was when I was born. I’m always stuck being the little blue girl. Those sad eyes. It’s never enough and it’s always too much. I’m never the right amount of anything. If you try to take me in small doses, you’ll still choke. My God comes in a small body with too many voices. And I’m never quite sure which one is actually mine. One is always yelling and slamming doors, while the other cowers behind the door. There’s one that speaks in nothing but metaphors and there’s one that won’t stop repeating what I already know. In order to be my own God, I have to be more quiet, more weak, but strong, find the balance, walk the tightrope. Don’t stumble, there’s no room for mistakes here. This is your life we’re talking about after all. When the voices get loud, you get louder. You remind them who really owns this body. But there lies the problem: This body doesn’t want to be a body. This body claws its way out of itself. This body slashes its own throat, clips its own wings. This body dies a martyr, believing its death to be its final act of Godliness.

i was at the dinner table the first time someone told me, “God does not exist.” I haven’t had a dream since then. sometimes, i imagine dying like it’s a good magic trick—sometimes, i imagine dying and it feels like driving home often, i want to pry open the mouth of a lion cut out her tongue, and wait for her to fight back with just teeth what i mean to say, is i’m nothing to scream about. nothing to shine a light on or give a pair of hands to. what i mean to say, is i’m just another way out of the ocean. what i mean to say, is i drove home from my own baptism fully believing i had just narrowly escaped drowning.

Death and I are good friends,
Occasionally I call her up and ask her to come over,
She sits and sips the tea I left out for her as I sob on the floor,
Clutching a knife like it is my last chance of salvation.
She sits at the table and tells me,
“It is not your time, child. You are not brave enough”
We do this for years.
Sometimes I do not see her for months
The urge to call her will rise up,
But I can sometimes ignore it.
Then there are days where she leaves through the front door
Only for me to call her back once her boots hit the pavement.
Neither of us get any rest on those nights.
Death is kind.
Her voice is always so soft and sweet when she tells me,
“It is not your time, child. You are not brave enough.”
There is an appointment with a doctor waiting for me this Tuesday
Death sits next to me on my couch silently.
I speak first.
“I haven’t changed my mind yet.”
She does not say anything.
“I thought I would by now”
Silence stretches between us like too many bad metaphors
“I don’t want them to change me”
She sips her tea.
“Maybe there will be a day that will mark the last time I call you.”
We sit together and it feels different, like we are equals instead of courier and broken doll
“I mean you’ll come back eventually –you’ll have to- but maybe I won’t be the one to call you when you come the last time.”
Quiet feels so much more comforting when you are not begging to die.
“You’ll come though? If I call?”
Finally, Death turns to me.
“It is not your time child. You are not brave enough. And I hope when you call again, it won’t be your time and you will not be brave enough. And the time after that. And the time after that. And all the times that you call me, I hope it is not your time and you are not brave enough.”
Death looks at me with a mother’s eyes
“I hope you are never brave enough”
We sit in silence, both of us sipping at tea I left out for us
All the knives are in their block
All the pills are in their bottles
All the razors have disappeared
All the hurtful things are in their place
Maybe cowardice is not the worst thing in the world.
There is an appointment with a doctor waiting for me on Tuesday
I go.
