Another floyd headcannon for the soul:

I like to think that as much as he likes his brother, Floyd sometimes gets really insecure of people thinking Jade’s “the better twin” because hes less outwardly brash and scary.

He doesn’t tell anyone though, not even Jade, but he can tell when his mood goes from his usual lost motivation to genuinely upset and writing it off as him “not being in the mood.”

Maybe back in the coral sea a lot of merfolk would prefer to hangout with Jade because of how unpredictable Floyd was (if the Leech twins werent avoided at all) and a lot of merfolk and even maybe students at Night Raven would often confess to Jade, with or without Floyd present or witnessing it somewhere in the background.

And just to add in a sprinkle of Sad and (sorta?) tie in my previous Floyd hc into this: maybe Floyd would garner a crush on someone in the coral sea during their school days, and everytime it would happen, that (mer?) person would almost always have a crush on Jade, and Floyd had always witnessed his love confessing to his identical brother.

He’s probably learned to give up before he tries, so the minute he sees his crush even glance over to Jade with The Look in their eyes, his faces falls but not in the scary, intimidating Floyd way, but in a way that makes even someone terrified of Floyd feel even just a little bad for him.

Jade is fully aware of all of this though, and he always rejects every single one of Floyd’s crushes. Not only because he cares about his brother, but mainly also because he wasn’t interested in them in the first place (LMFAOOO). It’s a unspoken thing that when these things would happen and Floyd would swim/storm off to be alone and upset, Jade would follow shortly after, usually with a peace offering of cake, snacks, or drink from a vending machine, and leave him to be alone.

And Floyd would, almost always, be fine the next time you see him. At least on the outside.
