Quote
“The play is about the human capacity for violence and loneliness and love. I always said the play is a love story. It’s about what it is to live with the violent things that we’ve done. Its about what it is to feel regret. I think regret and love and fear and home are as relevant as they’ve ever been and will always be.”
- Simon Stephens.

The End of the Road...
Tumblr media
Eight weeks of preparation. Eight weeks of blood (fake), sweat (real, mostly from the get-in team) and tears (this is our last blog, sniff).
With just four days to go until the Motortown opening night, we can hardly believe our journey is almost over. But before we start waving our hankies, there's just enough time for one last sneak peek behind the scenes... because guess what?
IT'S TECH WEEK!
Our stage is looking magnificent, but our lighting and sound designers seem to have mysteriously disappeared. They were last seen rigging on Wednesday morning, but we haven't seen them since. We suspect they may be lost in the vast, dark empty spaces of the tech box. According to Mayan calendar predictions, Emma and Dan are expected to reappear around Saturday 30th November, which coincidentally happens to be our final performance. How odd. Let's hope they find their way back by 7.30pm in time for the show. We're awfully excited for it.
One of our actors, Alex, has also gone missing, but some weird bloke with big glasses and a dodgy side parting keeps turning up to our rehearsals. Might as well use him. Admittedly, a couple of the other actors have been rather sloppy this week. Literally. We've managed to get through an entire pack of baby wipes - but not to worry, because their lines are word perfect. Hoorah.
Set design have spent the last few days covered in everything from paint to PVA to pebbles - and boy, have their efforts been worth it. Costume have gathered a whole wardrobe full of weird and wonderful clothes fit for... well, Dagenham. Paul's dressing gown is an absolute highlight. Stage Management have been standing in the spotlight for focussing and plotting this week, pretending to be the actors. They must be jealous or something. P&P have been treated to seeing lots of your lovely faces at Vanbrugh and TFTV stalls this week as tickets continue to be snapped up for our performances on Tuesday 26th, Thursday 28th and Saturday 30th. If you haven't bagged yourself a seat yet, why not? You can even do it online!

Word on the grapevine is that students can grab a ticket for only £5. (Even cheaper than an Efe's.) Why not bring a mate, too?

Ready? Set? GO-tortown!
Tumblr media
It's all fun and games down at Motortown. With little over one week before opening night, the production team are practically wetting themselves with excitement (and mild fear). Everyone is pulling together and supporting one another to make sure it all runs as smoothly as possible; tickets are selling like hot cakes, our Set Design team are covered in paint, our determined DSM is battling on despite illness, and everyone else is busy running around like headless chickens with a show to put on in a week's time. So really, we're right on track.

The happiest production meetings you'll ever see
Our P&P team have been hard at work creating the full Motortown trailer, which we're all very much looking forward to seeing. Keep an eye out on your News Feed for that. We'll post a link to it here as well, so watch this space.
Now what would be the point of reading this blog if you aren't going to come and see the show? Don't forget you can buy your tickets online here: http://store.york.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?compid=1&modid=1&deptid=160&catid=330&prodvarid=44
Or alternatively, come along to Vanbrugh stalls or TFTV stalls from 12-2pm this week and pay our lovely and helpful ticket team a visit. Bring friends, bring family, bring thespians! Student tickets are only £5!
HINT: If you're a student, you can buy a combined ticket for Motortown AND our sister show Punk Rock for just £7.50.**
See you next week!
