I want to know who had the job of telling Scribe Erazim in Trosky that Master Voyta was moving in next door.

Like, some low level bureaucrat or servant had to be like, "So, bad news. You know that creepy, disused storage room that's inexplicably abandoned and attached to your room and your room alone? Well, we're loaning it out for a while to an eccentric artist."

And Scribe Erazim would have been like, "Eccentric in what way?"

And this bureaucrat would have had to be like, "Well, rumor has it he's a dangerous madman who talks to a skull, has beef with some bandit that bashes dudes' heads in with his helmet, and may or may not be praying to a pagan god. But that's artists for you. I'm sure he won't disturb your studies."

More little things I love about the Hansry romance scene:

-How eager Henry sounds after Hans says he's been thinking a lot about the two of them.

-That delicious moment of silence when they gaze at each other in amazement after Henry grabs Hans' hand.

-Also, how few words are actually said after that point. And when they do speak, no one can quite manage more than 2-3 words at a time.

-The raw desperation in Hans' eyes as Henry tries to leave the first time.

-The way their respective kisses mirror one another. Both grab the other by the arm to turn them back. Hans does it to prevent Henry from leaving, and Henry also does it to prevent Henry from leaving.

See, the thing about Robin Hobb is, she can write a book where in the first 200 pages nothing at all happens except a 30 something year old dude walking around his secluded cabin telling himself he's not lonely while fending off yet another visitor attempting to tell him he's lonely, and somehow it's riveting.
