like black people are present in every single fucking genre and scene and popularized and straight up created several but people are so fucking hell bent on finding every possible excuse to not engage with their music because its easier than trying to confront their own racism. like okay well if its truly just a disinterest in most rap music then surely you listen to black artists in other genres right? who am i fucking kidding. of course you dont.

having a moment. not a good one.
One of my favorite songs ever. I listen to it when I'm severely triggered And it's highly effective at calming me down. It's so great.
Modern baseball is the best! (& the superweaks & thin lips, I guess)
man I hate that I had to pull it out but it really is Awesome. I feel slightly better. Still not fine though. I am plagued by my illness. I will be reporting this to my therapist lol.
even this song can't ground me fully so it's... Yeah. Not a good time.

Punk Rock Vegan Movie is a feature-length documentary written and directed (and shot and scored) by Moby. It looks at the surprising history of punk rock and animal rights activism, features interviews with dozens of punk rock legends, and also cameos from Bagel the dog, the devil, and a boardroom of demons. It’s the filmmaker and producers’ hope that no one ever pays to see this movie, as it’s a labor of love and activism.

Motivational punk
I won't sit around all day cause life means more to me
Wake up and live
So many kids content to sleep their lives away
But I'm gona try to make the most out of every day
Each day, wake up and live
It takes some motivation It takes some love for life
I won't sit around all day and let my life pass you by
PT: wake up and live

I was intrigued by the idea of straight edge punk because it could be like my ideal answer to religion. (deals with ethics (from a leftie POV) & includes things like vegetarianism & no alcohol¹). But it's like "the politics of straight edge punk band range from revolutionary [marxist?] to regressive". And then doesn't say which is which.
So now I've gotta do some fucked up mix of poetic and rhetorical analysis to figure out what kind of politics these punkers have. And listen through hours of music. I guess.
(note 1 below the cut)
1) [from wikipedia with commentary] adherents refrain from using alcohol (not me but almost) tobacco (me, except that one time but yeah) and recreational drugs (me) in reaction to the punk subculture's excesses. Some adherents refrain from engaging in casual sex (not interested in this part of straight edge), follow a vegetarian (want to, not yet) or vegan (not me, could be) diet and do not consume caffeine (not interested in this part of straight edge) or prescription drugs (not me at all this seems genuinely stupid, medicine is cool, I guess if they're talking like opioids or something I get it but like what).

trying to start tagging my posts with genres. And like . American Poetry Club is not "long island punk". Also why is "[..] punk" considered a subgenre of metal?. Chosic is weird. Genres are weird. They don't make sense (chosic link)
[Spotify links] American Poetry Club: song1 / song2 / song3 / song4
[Spotify links] (based on chosic) long island punk: incendiary / regulate / Crime in Stereo
Basically American Poetry is like super soft lo-fi chill personal emo and long island punk is,, punk, hardcore intense political punk.
