Do you think Wyatt Callow died early protecting Lou Lou so that people back home made no money on his death. idk man there's just something about the capitol doing everything in their power to erase haymitch's humanity and love for his allies and crafting a purely selfish, callous image of him to send back to the districts only for him to still be greeted with support and care when he returns to district 12, even from louella's family. I don't know if I can even articulate it but yeah... the capitol tried but they couldn't erase the love and the community that already existed in the districts.

“because he loves Peeta too” is the only line ever because it tells us, with the plainest read of the text, that Haymitch loves Peeta just as Katniss loves Peeta; so Katniss admits she loves Peeta here; and, read another way, I think it also tells us that Haymitch loves Katniss, and he loves Peeta too

and Katniss knows they are loved by Haymitch (she articulates it more later, but the fact that she reaches for his comfort also speaks volumes), which is just … a whole thing …

and he’s there for his sweetheart, immediately, and they’re united in their grief over Peeta, even as everyone else is fretting about how they’ve lost their propaganda piece

he didn’t want to let them in and this is why — and he does know what she’s feeling, more than she can handle hearing right now, not only because of his past, but because he too is watching Peeta’s decline, and Katniss’s decline because of it … so he just tells her he knows, and he holds her

they could never make me think sejanus was an idiot for wanting change and trusting snow. they could never make me think wyatt was an idiot for giving his life for someone with zero chances of winning. they're both good people and were willing to die for it. no matter what you say i respect and love characters who are like that

something so poetic about maysilee saying if she escapes the Capitol she’ll give her mockingjay pin another chance.
