I swear Aaron and Katelyn are so under appreciated.

My boy Aaron takes her as his date everywhere, he got hella mad when she refused to see him bc he WANTS TO SEE HER SO BAD HE STARTED DOING THE JOINT SESSIONS.

AND KATELYN, my beautiful sweet girl Katelyn deserves more recognition.

She knows all about Aaron, bc he TALKS to her and she accepted all of him and his problems. Moreover, she's the only one we see being chill with the Foxes, +1000 aura points if you ask me. She doesn't judge and she's friendly to them (loved how she started yapping to Neil).

Also, that scene where the foxes win the match and Aaron and Katelyn run to each other to kiss? My roman empire.

They're so in love and I'm so happy everytime they're together.

all of the perfect court completely changed their playing styles are were STILL the best

kevin had to train himself to play with his right hand for a whole season and by the end of tkm can play almost flawlessly with both

neil played as a backliner his whole life and only played as a striker for a year before kevin himself scouted him. and then proceeds to play both positions in the last game against the ravens

jean went from the most aggressive team in the US (where he was starting lineup to an undefeated team) to the most docile, where he’ll likely beat the new #1

not only were they the three best (living) players, but they all had to restart from scratch and work their way to that AGAIN. they were perfect court for a reason

i don’t think people realize how well neil’s demisexuality is written. you can see his emotional connection to andrew change and grow as he learns andrew’s motivations and boundaires long before you can see his attraction to andrew appear.

i think the best example is how neil describes andrew in tkm. he never really thinks about it in detail at all and then all of a sudden “andrew looked as he always had, and neil knew his face as well as he knew every iteration of his own. despite that, something seemed different. maybe it was the sunlight streaming through the window, making andrew’s pale hair shine brighter and his hazel eyes seem almost gold. whatever it was, it was disorienting.”

demisexuality sometimes feels like a switch gets flipped out of nowhere. and andrew flipped neil’s switch because neil trusted him. trust and safety and boundary respect was literally the turn on.

andreil is so hilarious to me because they would never announce their relationship publicly but sometimes neil would randomly pull up wearing andrew’s jersey and fans wouldn’t shut up about it. still neil would not comment on it and andrew would straight-up ignore anyone asking questions

I just re-read The Foxhole Court and for the first time I noticed the parallels between Wymack’s speech about Kevin’s time at the nest and THE Riko roast in book 2:

Wymack: “[Tetsuji] raised Kevin to be a star” // Neil: “Being raised as a superstar must’ve been really, really difficult for you”

Wymack: “Kevin isn’t human to them. He’s a project” // Neil: “Always a commodity, never a human being”

Wymack: “He put a lot of time and money into kevin’s development on the court. As far as Tetsuji is concerned, Kevin is valuable property. Any profit Kevin makes is rightfully the Moriyamas’” // Neil: “Not a single person in your family thinking you’re worth a damn off the court”

Wymack: “Kengo and Ichirou mostly keep to New York and couldn’t give a flying fuck what Tetsuji and Riko do” // Neil: “Kevin and I talk about your intricate and endless daddy issues all the time”

In my opinion, this is significant for two main reasons.

First, as Wymack says, “Kevin doesn’t talk about his time at Evermore,” so Neil didn’t get this information from HIM. This is part of why the “Kevin and I talk about your intricate and endless Daddy issues all the time” is so funny, because you know Kevin is sitting at that table losing his MIND at being implicated in this, but this speech means those claims are based on something.

Second, and I think more importantly, Neil is turning everything Wymack told him was true of Kevin onto Riko. On the Kathy Ferdinand show, Neil implies that Kevin is better than Riko, and that Riko knows it and is scared of it—“people are finally going to know which one of you is better. They’re going to know how premature [the facial tattoo] was.” In the Riko Roast (TM), he’s continuing to make that insinuation by basically saying “hey, all those things you think about Kevin? All that dehumanization? It’s true for you, too. Only Kevin got out and you’re still there, and we see that and talk shit because of it.” He’s not just knocking Riko down, he’s building Kevin up while he does it, because in this scenario, Kevin is one of the people on the outside seeing how pitiful Riko is, while Riko is just a guy everyone thinks is annoying, and who should just shut up.

Rereading the scene where Kevin finds out about Neil’s past at the banquet made me think that for at least a second, he must’ve been thinking back to the interview with Kathy Ferdinand.

“Oh my god I forced him to go on national television with me………..AND HE WENT THROUGH WITH IT?!”

Poor Kevin man he just wants to play stickball in peace but he has to put up with Neil “I’m fine” Josten on the regular…

so glad that jean joined the trojans after their roster stunt with the foxes. can you imagine his reaction to his team literally throwing away a game in the name of ‘betterment’. he’d have gone to prison
