Imagine throwing a Star Wars funeral and thinking “Muahaha yes! This will show them how such big fans we are and that we are definitely serious people!”
This is perhaps the most philosophically profound moment in all of Star Wars.
We’ve known for some time how and why the Jedi “recruit” younglings but this scene questions if they even should.
The scene also comments on indoctrination, establishment of religion, and government overreach. It’s multilayered and it’s a shame that all the usual noise has impeded on people actually discussing the themes in the episode.
How is Peter Parker not famous? The normal everyday dude who happens to be the only person in the world that manages to get high quality photos of Spider-Man would have the entire media sphere knocking at his door with job offers, interview requests, etc no?
(His name is on every issue of the Daily Bugle that uses his photos for Christ’s sake 🤣)
This has to be part of why the MCU Daily Bugle is a clickbait/conspiracy website and not a traditional media outlet. It uses user generated & viral footage while also modernizing things for the 21st century.
My favorite Easter egg of all time is E.T. in Phantom Menace.
It is kind of a bummer that they helped contribute to the downfall of Democracy by joining in on the call for a vote of no confidence in the Chancellor… but a cool Easter egg no doubt 🤣
‘X-Men’ isn’t just fun fantasy entertainment; it’s about understanding the impact of our language and beliefs and hopefully coming out of it as better versions of ourselves. Not just as individuals but as a society that values empathy, education, and fostering a more inclusive society.
