I don't remember talking about his lore so here it goes :

Gustave is a spider sent by Shamura to spy on the Lamb and their cult ; after Shamura is defeated, Gustave sticks around the cult because the Lamb gives him free food ; he also kind of became friend with Roger (let's say Gustave tolerates Roger's presence)
