It was only 6 in the morning on a Saturday as you made your way to the bakery you currently worked at. Since it was literally down the street you always made the short trip there by walking. The fall air was slightly chilly but still nice since you were in a cozy cardigan. As you entered the building, the warmth and sweet smell of pastries fills your senses and the whole familiarity has you smiling to yourself. This place was like your second home. After moving to the city a couple years ago, you often stopped by before heading to your university. It was a pleasant getaway from all the stress you’ve accumulated in your life mainly because you simply adored the staff and most of the fellow customers that came. You eventually came to learn that the handsome guy named Seokjin, who was slightly cocky yet still humble, was the owner and he ran this place with two of his friends, Taehyung and Jimin. Soon enough, you recently became an employee yourself and wouldn’t have it any other way.
You smiled and greeted some of the seated customers that you passed as you head to the employee’s office in the back. As soon as you walk in, you hear someone shout your name and suddenly a body slightly larger than yours nearly knocks you off your feet and pulls you into a bear hug.
“Oh my god, get off of me Jin.” You mumble since your face is buried into his chest. The older boy only laughs as he lets go of you.
“Just wanted to wholesomely greet my favorite little worker.” He says with a smile and you playfully roll your eyes. “I finally attempted to make some cookie and cream macarons. Would you like to try some? They’re on the table if you do.” He gestures to the small table on the side and you nearly drool as you see the sweets that were practically calling your name.
“That shouldn’t even be a question. Of course I will! Let me put my stuff away real quick and I’ll give them a try.” You quickly head over to the lockers in the back and stuff your purse into one of them. “I’m sure if you made them they’re going to be good. You’re lowkey like the Gordan Ramsey of desserts.” The boy quickly erupts into his windshield wiper-like laughter at your comment that also gets you to laugh along.
“Never heard that one before, but I always appreciate a compliment.” He dramatically sends you a flying kiss that you pretend to grab and stomp on, making him pout. “Ah, my heart. Why are you like this?” He says as he clutches his chest.
You only shake your head with a smile and proceed to grab one of his macarons. From the corner of your eye, you see him waiting for your reaction with anticipating eyes. “Dammit Jin, you know I can’t fully enjoy this if you’re just standing there staring at me like that!” He covers his eyes with one hand, but it was obvious he was still peeking. You laugh as you take a small bite. As expected, the little pastry was absolutely delicious and your eyes widened in delight. Even though it was a common flavor, there was something distinct about it.
“Holy shit, this is so good!” You moan as you quickly finish the rest. “What did you do to this?”
“What did I do?” He chuckles. “Well, I made the cream from scratch and baked some fresh cookies, because you know I’m not about to buy some processed junk, and basically mixed them together to make the filling. The important part was to make sure the cream was thick and rich. As for the macaron shells, just added a bit of cocoa to it and the usual.”
“Wow you make it sound so simple but if I even attempt to try I’ll probably burn everything. I acknowledge your skills Jin.” You give him a thumbs up as you reach for another macaron. “So, who’s going to be on the clock with me? I haven’t had time to look at the schedule.”
“Oh. Tae was supposed to be here ten minutes ago but I don-”
“Hey guys! Sorry I’m late.” Taehyung bursts through the door and quickly throws his bag towards the locker. He sees you with the macaron that you were currently munching on and quickly takes it out of your hand. You gawk at him as he shoots you a cheeky smile while heading towards the front, chewing the stolen pastry. “Good as always hyung!” He calls out before he disappears around the corner.
“This guy…” Jin says with a little shake of his head. “Well, I’ll get going now that he’s here. You guys go ahead and eat more and put out the rest as samples.” He says as he grabs his belongings and makes his way to the front. “I’ll see you around!”
“Alright!” You wave to him as he leaves.
Before going to the front, you fix your hair and makeup a bit and grab the little bin of pastries to take with you. As you go behind the counter, you see Taehyung animatedly conversing with a regular. You smile to yourself and quietly set up a little sample tray for the macarons. Once you’re done, you put on your apron then start on your daily tasks of cleaning and making sure everything is where they should be.
The day goes by like any other day joking around with Taehyung here and there while serving customers. Before you know it, it was already 11 and your shift was going to end in thirty minutes. However, there was always something you looked forward to before your shift ended. Right on cue, the bells on the front door chimed as someone enters the shop.
It was him.
He started coming about two weeks after you worked here but you never managed to have a decent conversation with him. He seemed to be around your age and was unfairly good looking but he was always stoic and mumbled whenever he had to talk to you or your coworkers while checking out. You honestly thought he was annoying at first but as he kept returning, you simply got used to his demeanor. As always, he makes a beeline to the self-serve coffee area and fixes himself a sixteen-ounce cup. You never knew what was so special about the coffee. It was just a dark roast that only a few people get here and there. You even told Jin that you guys should up the coffee game for the shop instead of focusing only on the pastries but he only brushed it off with a ‘maybe.’ Once the boy was finally finished, he slowly walks up to the counter with the cup in hand. You instantly put on your customer service smile as he finally reaches you.
“Will that be all today?”
“…”
“Okay, that’ll be $1.85.”
He hands you a couple of dollars and mumbles, “Keep the change.” Next thing you know, he’s out the door before you could even thank him.
With a sigh, you toss the fifteen cents into the tip jar.
“Sad that you didn’t get to have a conversation with lover boy?” Taehyung says while wiggling his brows. He only lets out a small laugh as you shrug your shoulders. “I swear, the only thing he knows how to say is ‘keep the change.’” You snort at his failed attempt of sounding like the guy.
“Hey, can’t complain since he’s a regular and he tips us. Even if it’s just fifteen cents a day it eventually adds up!” You say while wiping down the counter.
“True. But anyways, it’s pretty slow and Jimin should be here soon so you can go.” He says while gesturing towards the door. “I know you have a ton of homework to do so it’s cool.”
You let out a groan. “Thanks Tae, I really appreciate it!”
“No problem, now leave.” He says playfully, and you simply raise a brow.
“Damn didn’t know you wanted to be alone with Jimin that bad.” You cackle as you dodge a dirty napkin he flings your way with a curse. “I’m going to get my stuff in the back and I’ll get going.”
“Whatever!” He shouts behind you as you walk off to get your belongings.
Once you’re done you go back to the front and pack a couple of macarons that were left over to snack on. “I’ll see you later then!” You say as you make your way to the door.
“Don’t die from studying!”
“I’ll try not to.” You laugh as you absentmindedly walk out with a smile on your face.
Stopping in front of the shop for a bit, you take out your phone and put in your ear phones then started walking towards the direction of your apartment. Since it was nice outside, you decided to listen to some feel good music. However, the playlist you decided to use kept playing songs you weren’t in the mood for, so you skipped them. It wasn’t until you couldn’t skip anymore that you were forced to walk while listening to a high beat pop song in frustration.
“Why won’t you let us skip more than six times dammit…” You groan to no one in particular. “I know college students get a discount but like hell am I going to pay for that shi-FUCK!” You yelp as you felt hot liquid seeping down your chest. You quickly yank out your earphones ready to give the culprit a mouthful when you stopped in your tracks. It was the quiet guy from earlier. “Coffee boy?” You blurt out before you could stop yourself.
“Coffee boy?” The guy from earlier repeated with furrowed brows thoroughly confused with the nickname before he came to his senses and relaxed his face. “Sorry about that…” He mumbles while pointing towards your chest with his chin before bending over to pick up his coffee cup.
You look down at the large coffee stain on your shirt and let out a curse.
“Um…here’s a napkin.”
“Thanks. Sorry I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.” You say as you dab at the stain. It was slowly cooling down and to be honest you were planning on throwing this shirt away anyways.
“It’s my fault too.”
“Yeah, but it’s cool. I promise.” You reassure him with a smile. He returns your smile as well and you notice a birth mark under his lip that you found cute. “So…do you live around here? You always stop by the bakery so I’m just assuming.”
“Huh?” He says slightly flustered at the sudden question. “Oh…yeah, I live down there.” He points behind him in the direction of your apartment complex.
“Really? I’ve lived there for like three years and never seen you around.”
“I moved here a couple months ago.” He says while looking over your shoulder.
“Ah, no wonder.” You reply and noticed that he was intently searching for something behind you. “Do you have somewhere to be?”
“Not really I was just going to finish my coffee out here. Just looking for a trash can now.”
“Oh, there’s one right behind you.” You point to the green bin to the left of him. His face slightly flushed and you couldn’t help but giggle as he turned around to discard the cup.
He turned back and faced you with his hands in his pocket. His gaze dropped to your chest again and you raised a brow in question. “You must be cold now. Were you heading home?”
“Yeah, you?” He simply nods. “How about we walk together?”
“That’s cool.” He replies.
You two start heading in the direction of your apartment in a slightly awkward silence.
“So-”
“S-”
You both start and let out an embarrassed laugh. He gestures for you to speak first.
“So how are you liking it here?”
“So far, so good.” He simply replies.
“That’s good.” You nod, and it becomes quiet between you two again as you both continued walking. “What were you going to say again?”
“Um, I actually forgot.” He says while scratching the back of his head a bit before stuffing his hand back into his pocket.
“Niiice.” You tease with a laugh and he also laughs a bit. “You know, this is the most I’ve ever heard you talk.”
“What?” He shoots you a look before facing forward again. “Well, I’m not good with small talk so I kind of keep it short and simple.” He says with a sheepish smile.
“I understand. But maybe from now on, how about we talk more when you stop by?”
“I’ll try.”
You nod and you both walk towards the complex, him slightly behind, this time talking about each other’s lives. You figured out that he was the same age as you and also attended the same university. He was a photography major and worked part time at a studio a few blocks away. The conversation was easy going and it flowed smoothly until you reached the entrance of the apartment complex. You both stopped for a bit, not knowing if you should just part ways or not. There were still more things you wanted to know about him, especially since he’s piqued your interest for so long. And he too seemed to feel the same way. Once your eyes met once again you lift a hand up towards him with a smile.
“(L/N, F/N), nice to meet you.”
He looks amused as he takes your hand in his in a firm grasp and you can’t help but notice how soft his hands were. “Jeon Jungkook. Same.”
You both let go and linger around the entrance a little longer.
“I live in 129, you?”
“216.”
“Cool.” You reply while nodding. “Well, I really need to get out of this shirt, so I’ll head inside now.” You say while walking backwards a bit. “I’m starting to get a little chilly.”
“Alright, and sorry about that again.” He says eyeing you for a bit. He seems a little hesitant like he’s about to say something, but you brush it off as you turn around to finally walk normally when you hear him again. “Wait!” He quickly catches up to you and you turn to face him.
“Yeah?”
“I know this is random, but can I have your number? If not it’s fine! I just think it’d be nice to keep in touch with you...” He slowly trails off a bit until you cut him off in reassurance.
“Sure. Honestly I was thinking about asking you as well but thought it’d be too quick.” You grin at him as you open your phone to contacts and hand it to him. He calls himself and let his phone ring before disconnecting the call.
“All done.” He hands you your phone back.
“Awesome. Well, I’ll try to keep in contact and maybe we can even make plans one day? If you don’t mind of course.”
“That sounds perfect.” His eyes crinkle as he smiles. “But I have to go now, need to get ready for work.”
“Oh alright. See you around!” You say as you wave at him and he returns it before heading up the stairs.
You finally made it in your apartment and went straight to the bathroom to take a quick shower. Once you got out and looked in the mirror, you found yourself smiling like an idiot. You rub at your cheeks trying to calm down, but you couldn’t help the giddy feeling that overcame you since your encounter with Jungkook. When you finally settled down and laid in bed you were getting ready to take a much-needed nap before studying but decided to get on your phone for a bit. You opened it to find a text message that was sent ten minutes ago, and you swore you felt butterflies in your stomach. You smiled to yourself as your read the name of the sender.
Coffee Boy: “When’s the next time you’ll be free?”

Love Yourself | Pt. 2
Genre: Angst
Pairing: (Personal Trainer) Jimin x Reader
Length: 3.3k
Warnings: M for some language. Don’t read if you’re sensitive about weight issues. Eventual smut not in this chapter.
It was currently storming outside and the sound of thunder jolted you awake.
Lying in bed for a few minutes, you listen as the thunder slowly fades away into the distance, the rain now sounding more peaceful. You slowly sit up in bed to pull your curtains aside and was slightly shocked to see that it was dark out. You then grab your phone from the nightstand to check the time and mentally scolded yourself. The “nap” you had ended up being a nine hour one. Not only that, but you were pretty hungry because you skipped both lunch and dinner. As if on cue, your stomach starts growling and you finally get out of bed to stretch your limbs. Walking over to your vanity, you fix your appearance a bit before heading downstairs in search of something to snack on. When you make it into the kitchen you see your brother leaning against the counter while eating some chips. Once he notices your presence he shoots you a warm smile and holds the bag in your direction but you hesitate a moment.
“Don’t worry you know I won’t tell mom or anything. She’s not even here so take some.” He tilts his chin towards the bag and you finally relax and grab a handful.
“Thanks Hyuk. Did you guys have dinner already?” He simply nods while chewing. “I bet mom was happy I didn’t eat then.” You say bitterly and he looks at you sympathetically.
“I don’t understand why she’s so anal about you and your weight. I love your chubby cheeks and I hope you never lose them.” He says as he uses his clean hand to pinch one of your cheeks. He laughs as you swat his hand away, but he dodges it and ruffles your hair making you pout. “See? You’re so cute.”
“Thanks.” You didn’t know if you should smile or roll your eyes at him so you walk over to the fridge to see if there was anything you could eat.
“If you’re looking for leftovers, there are none. Mom only cooked a little bit.” Your brother says as he puts the chips away and starts washing his hands. “But I’m still hungry so do you want to go out somewhere?”
You close the fridge and turn around to face him with your eyebrows furrowed. “It’s already 8. I think it’s a bit too late to go out and eat somewhere.”
“Not for me. And don’t worry about money because I’m paying” He walks past you and into the living room to grab his keys. “Cmon (y/n), I know you’re hungry. I don’t want you to go back to sleep on an empty stomach.” He says while putting on his shoes. You remain in the kitchen as you contemplate whether or not this would be a good idea. Once he was done tying up his laces he looks up at your frozen figure and laughs. “Don’t think too much about it, you should go up and change. I’ll go start the car.”
“Okay.” You reply as you quickly make your way upstairs. You throw on whatever smells decent and combed through your hair a couple of times.
“Don’t forget a hoody or something! It’s raining and I almost got soaked! Don’t want you to get sick again.” You hear your brother yell from downstairs and you smile to yourself. If there was anything you were grateful for in life, it was your brother. He was always looking out for you. Back in your grade school days, he would protect you from bullies and whenever your mom started nagging you about your weight he would always make you feel better about yourself by showering you with compliments. Your thoughts were interrupted when you hear him yell to you again, “I’m going to go to the car for real now!”
“Alright, be down in a few minutes!” You reply as you look around for a jacket. Once you spotted one you quickly threw it on and grabbed your phone. You turned off your lights then rushed outside to your brother’s car. Once he sees that you put on your seatbelt he backs out of the driveway and onto the road.
“So…what you craving for?” He asks once the car reaches the first stoplight. He notices that you are deep in thought so he adds, “We can do Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or there’s that Italian restaurant a couple blocks away. I heard that place was pretty good.”
“I think I just want some Korean food. How about the one we always go to down the street?”
“That sounds good. I was actually craving some pork belly!” He says with a grin.
The restaurant had a bunch of cars and you were glad that you guys were able to get a seat before it got even more packed. The hostess sets down a couple of menus and takes your drink orders, letting you guys know a waitress will be back with the drinks soon before heading to the front. You grab a menu and see that your brother was already studying his with furrowed brows. You laugh at how serious he was before you start to study the menu yourself.
“I know for sure we’re getting pork belly and some marinated beef. Let me know if anything else sounds good.” He says as he put his menu down.
You look around a bit and the thought of soup entices you. “How about some kimchi jjigae? We should also get some rice with that.” You say as you look at your brother for confirmation. He gives you two thumbs up and you set your menu down next to his.
The waitress finally comes with your drinks and introduces herself. “Hey guys, my name is Hyeri and I’ll be your serv-Is that you, Lee Minhyuk?!” The girl exclaims all of a sudden and you both look at her. Your brother’s eyes widen in recognition before he grins widely at the girl.
“Dang it’s been a while! How you’ve been?” He says while handing her the menus.
“I’ve been good, and you?” She replies as she grabs them.
“Good too. I didn’t know you worked here!”
“Yeah, I get good tips here and it pays the bills so here I am.” The girl laughs a bit before taking out her notepad. “But before we talk about anything else, what can I get you guys today?”
Your brother places the order and she goes to the kitchen but shortly comes back to continue the conversation. You drown them out by looking out the window to your right. An SUV just pulled up to the restaurant and about seven guys quickly get out. It was a bit too dark to see their faces but you could still make out what they were doing. They all seem to be joking around with each other as they approached the building. One had their arm over another’s shoulders, others on their phones, and you let out a gasp as one slaps another’s butt so hard he nearly fell over. Feeling like you’ve witnessed too much, you quickly divert your attention back to your brother who just finished the conversation with the waitress.
“Old high school friend.” He states as he takes a sip of his drink.
“That’s cool.”
“Why are your ears red?” He asks and you reach up to rub at your ears.
“No idea.” You shrugged at him.
Before he could say anything else, the girl comes back again, but this time with the food he ordered. “Enjoy!” She says with a wink as she sets them down then walks over to another table.
You and Minhyuk both grab a tong but he quickly takes yours out of your hand and places it back where it was. You raise a brow at him as he places meat on the grill.
“I already ate so I’m going to grill the meat for you. Go ahead and start eating the jjigae.”
“Alright.” You smile at him as you taste a spoonful of the soup. “Oh my god, this is so good! Try some Hyuk!” You feed him a spoonful as well and he lets out a satisfied groan.
“They really gotten better. It’s been a while since we came here.” He said while cutting up the meat on the grill.
“Yeah much better.” You continued eating but then you felt a tap on your shoulder. You finished chewing and swallowing your food before you looked up at the person and your eyes widen.
“Hey (y/n), nice seeing you here.” Jimin says, his eyes turning into crescents as he smiles down at you.
“Yeah…” You say as your eyes wander to your brother who’s already staring Jimin down.
“Who are you?” He asks him with a straight face.
Still smiling, Jimin turns to your brother. “I’m Park Jimin and starting tomorrow I’m (y/n)’s personal trainer. And you are…?”
“Lee Minhyuk, her older brother.” Your brother replies.
“Oh, nice to meet you.” Jimin replies as he extends his hand and they both briefly shake hands. Your brother simply nods and goes back to grilling. “So, I’m looking forward to tomorrow.” Jimin turns his attention back to you with his hands in his pocket.
“Me too.” You simply reply with a nod as you awkwardly shift in your seat.
Finally sensing your slight discomfort, he points to the booth behind you. “Well, I guess I’ll join my friends now. Hope you two enjoy your meal!”
“Okay you too.” You say with a small smile and he gives you a quick wave before heading to his spot behind yours.
“Eat up.” You hear your brother say as he places some cooked meat onto your plate. You both continue eating in a comfortable silence for a while when he speaks up again. “Personal trainer huh? I guess that was mom’s idea.”
“Yeah…She heard a spot opened up at Jimin’s studio so she called him first thing in the morning.”
Your brother scoffs. “Of course she did. Does she even know if he’s any good?”
“Well, she heard about him from his previous client’s mom. Apparently the girl lost thirty-something pounds in six months.”
“I guess that’s impressive.”
“To be honest, I hope I can lose some weight too. I guess that’s why I’m not too against it.”
“As long as you’re okay with it I am too. If I knew you actually wanted to lose weight, I would’ve made Wonho help you!” He says with a smile.
“I don’t think I would’ve been able to keep up with him.” You both laugh at the thought.
“That’s true. He tends to get slightly overboard with his workouts!”
You nod in agreement as you finish the last bit of rice in your bowl. “I think I’m full now. How about you?”
“Yeah,” Minhyuk says as he leans back into the booth with a hand rubbing his belly. “I’m stuffed.”
“Wanna go then?”
“Good idea. It’s almost 10. We should head out.” He replies as he grabs his wallet and keys.
Once you slid out of the booth, you stretched a bit and your eyes couldn’t help but wander to Jimin’s table. You quickly recognize them as the group that came out of the SUV earlier and you feel a blush creeping on your face as you recall the whole butt slapping thing.
“Let’s go pay upfront.” You hear your brother say as he makes his way towards the front and you quickly follow behind.
The ride home was peaceful but once you guys pull into the driveway you panic a bit when you see your mom’s car already there.
“It’s going to be okay. If she says anything I got you.” Minhyuk assures you as he gets out of the car and heads over to your side to open your door for you.
“Thanks Hyuk. I know she’s definitely going to say something if she knows we went out to eat.”
“This is why the two of us need to move out.” He says playfully and you nudge his shoulder.
You guys make your way inside and see that your mom is sitting in the living room watching TV. Minhyuk motions for you to go upstairs first but as soon as you reach the staircase your mom calls out your name.
“Yes?” You say without looking at her.
“Where did you guys go?” She says in an eerily calm voice.
“We went to th-” Minhyuk starts but she interrupts him.
“Not you. I’m talking to (y/n).”
“But I was go-”
“Stop it Minhyuk. This isn’t about you.”
“No. And (y/n), go upstairs.” Your brother says as he gently pushes you to move forward but you shake your head knowing that your mom might get even more upset.
“You better not (y/n). I have a good idea where you both have been. (y/n) reeks of food.”
“If you would’ve let me finish I would’ve told you we went out to eat.”
You hear your mom laugh bitterly. “You seriously can’t miss a couple of meals can’t you (y/n)? How disgusting. Aren’t you disgusted with your own body?”
“Mom. I was the one who made her go. And quit saying shit like that! Do you know how hurtful your words are?!”
“Hurtful? How about how ‘hurt’ I feel as a mother?! It hurts me to see my own daughter turn into this oversized beast!”
“I seriously cannot understand you! Why don’t you talk to her like a normal person instead of putting her down like this?! I’m tired of hearing you degrade her on a daily basis.” Minhyuk argues and he takes a step towards the living room but you grab his arm.
“I’ve told her many times that she needs to stop eating so much and to exercise more often but look at her now!”
“She had a damn eating disorder and I’m pretty sure you don’t even know why!”
“So what? It shouldn’t have been serious enough for her to get obese.”
All of a sudden you hear something breaking. It was hard to see because tears were threatening to fall out but when you blinked they fell freely down your face. Once you wiped your eyes you see your brother’s bloody hand and part of the wooden staircase broken.
“Lee Minhyuk! Why did you do that?!” Your mom quickly gets up from the sofa and strides over to where you both were to examine the staircase.
“Because you’re being so irrational!”
“Irrational?! I’m speaking the truth! I seriously don’t understand why you stick up for her! Can’t you see that she needs help?” She says as she picks up some of the wood off the ground,
“No! You need help! You treat your daughter like shit without even figuring out the underlying problems.”
“You know what? I’ve had my fair share of problems. Do you think I have time to figure out what the hell is wrong with her? I mean look at her, she can’t even stick up for herself. What happened? Did she get bullied or something? Not surprising.”
“How can you even say that?!” Minhyuk yells to her. “You’re a horrible mom. I feel sick even calling you that right now.”
Your mom finally gets up from picking up the broken wood and looks at your brother. “If I’m such a shitty mom then get out. Both of you. GET OUT!” She says as she throws the pieces of wood she picked up at you and Minhyuk.
“Cool give us twenty minutes.” Minhyuk says as he turns around to face you. He gives you a small smile and gently motions for you to go upstairs and this time you do.
“I don’t care as long as you’re out by the morning!” You hear her say as she slams the door to her bedroom shut.
“Fuck her. Pack up whatever you can (y/n) we’re going to Hyun Woo’s place. I’m sure he’ll be cool with it.”
“Okay.” You reply softly as you quickly go to your room and pack your things. Looking around your room, you realize you don’t really have much anyways. You easily fit all of your clothes, electronics, and toiletries into a suitcase and your school books and stationary in another.
“Take your bed spread and pillows too. I paid for those anyways.” Your brother says as he stands in your doorway with a couple of suitcases. “I’m going to call Hyun Woo now.”
You nod at him as you went to grab the bed sheets and pillows and folded them neatly to make it easier to carry.
“Hey hyung, shit kind of went down at my place so (y/n) and I needs a place to stay for a while until I find my own apartment. No, I promise you it was my mom’s fault.” You hear your brother laugh while talking to his friend on the phone.
As you wait for him to finish you sit on your bed and examine your room. It was basically empty and it felt so foreign. Ever since your teen years you never really felt ‘at home’ here and now your heart was pounding in anticipation of what was to come.
“You ready? Let’s get out of this hell hole.” You hear your brother say as he went to grab his things but stopped midway to look at yours. “Wait. I’ll get your stuff first and I’ll go back to get mines. That way you won’t have to come back inside.”
“Okay.” You say as he takes both of your suitcases leaving you to just carry your backpack and beddings. You both silently stuff your belongings into his car and he tells you to stay as he goes back inside. He soon comes back and you get out to help him with his things.
“We should’ve done this sooner.” He chuckles as he closes his trunk. He turns to you and puts a hand on your shoulder. “Don’t worry (y/n), we can make this work. I promise you will never have to deal with that type of negativity again.” He says as he puts an arm around your shoulder to pull you into a hug. “Let’s get going.” He pulls away and gets his keys out his pockets. He examines them and takes one off of his keychain and throws it towards the house. “I won’t be needing that anymore.” He states as he looks at you with a huge grin. You smile back at him but raise a brow as he opens his eyes wide all of a sudden. “Oh wait! I forgot something!” He exclaims as he goes to grab the key he threw and went inside the house again. He comes back after a few minutes with a bunch of bags with food. “Can’t leave these here because I paid for them.” He smiles cheekily as he throws the key towards the house again. “Now I won’t be needing that anymore.” He places them in the trunk of his car and he comes around to his side and he motions for you to get in. Once you both are inside you sit in silence for a few minutes and he finally turns the car on. His hand was on the steering wheel and you notice that there was still blood on it.
“Your knuckles! You should’ve bandaged them up Hyuk.” You say as you reach out to grab his wrist.
He gets out of your grip and places his hand back on the steering wheel. “I’ll be fine. I’ll do that at Hyun Woo’s place. It’s just a little scratch.”
“Little scratch my ass.” You reply and he laughs a bit. You both continue to sit there for a bit longer and you watch the rain as it slowly pours down the window. “So…I guess this is real.” You nearly whisper.
“Yeah. But it’s getting late and I know you have school tomorrow. I guess we should leave now.” He replies as he changes gears and for the second time this night he’s backing out of the driveway.
However, this will most likely be the last time and with that thought, you look at your house until it slowly fades into the distance. You feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off of your shoulders and you couldn’t help the smile that began to form on your face. For the first time in your life, you were looking forward to the future.

Love Yourself | Pt. 1
Genre: Fluff
Pairing: (Personal Trainer) Jimin x Reader
Length: 3.6k
Warnings: M for some language. Don’t read if you’re sensitive about weight issues. Eventual smut not in this chapter.
There was something mesmerizing about having the ability to transform the human body, at least for Jimin it was. Countless of men and women with various shapes and sizes has come to him in hopes of improving their bodies for many reasons. Some to get used to a healthier lifestyle, others to gain muscle, or some to lose weight. His job as a personal trainer had its ups and downs. The worse was whenever a client wanted to quit the training because they couldn’t handle their fitness schedule leaving him without work until he could find another. However, the pros outweighed the cons and what he enjoyed the most was the results. It was extremely satisfying not only for the client, but for him to see that all the hard work had been paid off. He loved the boost of confidence they get once they had reached their goals.
He recently finished the six months training he had with his last client who had a beginning weight of 150 pounds with a height of 5’4” and a BMI of 25.7. She was just slightly overweight but it was something that a change of diet could easily fix. However, she wanted her weight to go down to 120 and to get used to eating healthy. She was a breeze to work with and he could tell she was determined to keep up even though she had a pretty busy schedule herself. The 6 months rolled by quickly and she ended up being 118 pounds with a BMI of 20.3 which was a good balance of body fat and muscle mass. The girl was ecstatic and to celebrate she invited Jimin to a little get together at a nearby club with a few of her other friends.
“Even though you lost more weight than you originally planned, do you really think you should be drinking?” Jimin teased as he grabbed his phone and keys from his desk.
The girl stood by the door of his office and scoffed. “I’m not going to drink Min. I just want to celebrate and maybe dance a bit!”
“I was only kidding Yeon. You know I’ll be there for you baby girl.” He smiled and ruffled her hair as he walked past her and towards the front of his studio since it was time to close. The girl’s face lit up and she followed closely behind as he shut off the lights and went outside.
“I can’t believe time passed by so fast. I really enjoyed the training sessions and I even learned how to cook healthier foods! You really are amazing Jimin and I can’t say it enough.” The girl said as they both now stood in front of the studio. “I’m seriously going to recommend everyone I know to you. Even though you take one client at a time I’m sure your waitlist will be piled up enough to last you years!” She exclaimed and Jimin let out a boyish laugh while rubbing the back of his neck.
“I really appreciate it love, it was a pleasure working with you.” He said while locking the door and he turned to face her with a warm expression. “You’re always welcome to stop by whether it be just to say hi or if you ever need any more guidance.”
“Thanks but about that, I wanted to also let you know that I’m going to be moving to America in a couple of days with my parents. Something about my dad’s business or whatever.” The girl pouted. “I won’t be able to stop by but I will try my best to keep in touch.”
“That’s pretty far from Korea but I’m glad you plan on still keeping in touch.”
“Of course! But look at the time, it’s already almost 7 so I need to go get ready for later. See you at the club Min!” She said as she rushed her way to her car and waved at him once she got in.
Jimin returned the wave and watched as she pulled out of the driveway and onto the busy road before going into his own car.
The club was unusually packed for a Monday night but Jimin didn’t give it more thought as he made his way around the moving sweaty bodies and towards the VIP room Chaeyeon had rented out for the night. He made his way inside and there were at most twenty people inside and they all greeted him warmly. He took his place by Chaeyeon and she stood up to get everyone’s attention.
“I just want to thank you guys for coming today. I’ve told a couple of you guys already, but I wanted the rest of you all to know that in a couple of days I will be moving to America. Luckily just in time I was able to achieve my goal of getting my dream bod thanks to this handsome man right here.” She gestured to Jimin who was smiling sheepishly as people applauded and cheered a bit. “If it wasn’t for him I’d still be moping around eating fried chicken in my room all day. Anyways, this day isn’t just about me but also Jimin. I want you guys to keep him well taken care of tonight and make sure that his shot glass is always full! Let’s get him drunk!” She let out a laugh as Jimin sat there with wide eyes as someone shoved a glass in his hand and it was soon filled with some type of liquor. “Bottoms up!” She said as everyone started downing their own glasses.
Jimin quickly followed after, furrowing his brows as he felt the bitter liquid going down his throat. His shot glass was instantly refilled and he turned to the person who filled it and the random guy simply smiled at him and gestured for Jimin to drink up. A couple of hours later, he already lost count of how many shots he drank. He didn’t really enjoy the club scene because he was the type to enjoy drinking in a quieter and secluded place. The loud club music was a bit irritating but he wanted to look like he enjoyed the party to not ruin the mood. Everyone was dancing and grinding against each other, some making out in the corner of the room. He looked around for Chaeyeon and smirked to himself as he saw her drinking straight from a bottle while dancing with a couple of guys. So much for not drinking tonight. He thought to himself as he downed another shot. The rest of the night was a blur and he somehow made it home that night after hugging Chaeyeon and bidding farewell to her, unsure if he would even see each her again.
Jimin jolted up from his bed as his annoying alarm noise filled the room. His head was throbbing and he cursed himself for drinking way too much knowing he would have to work today. He shifted his body to turn off the alarm and noticed a bottle of water and some aspirin with a note on top of it on his nightstand. He grabbed the note and laughed to himself as read the content.
You’re welcome handsome.
-Drunk Jimin (;
Grinning, he shook his head as he took the pills and drank them with the water. He plopped back down onto his bed and sighed. It usually took a month at most to get a new client but he was hoping he could get one soon. With that he got up to start his morning routine of jogging for 30 minutes and then taking a shower. Once he got out the shower he dried his hair and wrapped a towel around his waist and started brushing his teeth when he heard his phone ringing from in his room. With his toothbrush in mouth he headed into his room and grabbed his phone to see who was calling him. He raised a brow when he saw an unfamiliar number pop up on his screen but he still picked it up and answered.
“Hello, is this Mr. Park Jimin?” An older woman spoke and Jimin was slightly surprised because she sounded like she was in her 40s.
“Yes this is he.” He said as he continued brushing his teeth with his other hand.
“That’s great! I heard that you are now looking for people to train and I am interested in letting my daughter possibly take up that offer if you are willing to take her under your wing.”
His eyes widened and a sense of relief fell over him at the thought of a new client so soon. He took out his toothbrush to reply, “Oh, of course I’m willing to! I would just need to consult with your daughter before anything actually happens though. I have some free time today so if she can stop by my studio later that would be great!”
“That we can do. We should be there in thirty minutes at most. Thank you for the time.”
“No, thank you for your time ma’am. See you soon.”
Once the call ended he walked to the bathroom and rinsed his mouth out. He looked into the mirror with a grin. I guess I didn’t have to wait long at all. He thought to himself as he got ready to head to the studio.
It didn’t take long to make it to his studio and once he got in he saw his coworker, Seokjin, working with his own client. He flashed him a quick thumbs up and headed towards his office towards the back. Once he settled down in his chair he went through some of his mail then he heard a few firm knocks on his door.
“Yes?” He said as he put down the envelope he had in his hand.
“Hey man, there’s an older lady in the front asking for you. She brought along her daughter and that girl seems like a bitch.” Another one of his coworkers, Jungkook laughed from outside of the door. “Hurry up cause I need to get back to my client!”
“Okay I’m coming!” Jimin replied as he hurriedly got up from his seat to head towards the guests. He nodded towards Jungkook who was heading to the equipment room and continued walking. Bitch huh? Hope she’s not too bad because I wouldn’t want to deal with that for months. He finally made it to the front and saw the older lady with a gentle smile on her face and he looked at you whose face was almost literally in your phone he rolled his eyes and stood in front of the older lady.
“Hello, Mr. Park. It’s nice to meet you finally. This is my daughter (y/n).” She gestured to you who was too into what was on the phone screen and elbowed you to get your attention. The lady then gritted her teeth and whispered, “Greet. Him. Now.” And turned to smile back at the patient boy.
You looked up from your phone and at Jimin then back to your phone and muttered a quick, “Hi.”
Jimin tried to hide his irritation at your rude behavior and held out his hand to you. “Nice to meet you (y/n).” You glanced at his hand and slowly brought your own to shake his. He shook it briefly before dropping it to continue talking. “We can go consult in my office. However, it would be nice if it would be just me and (y/n) because these can get really personal if you wouldn’t mind?” He asked your mom and she quickly nodded her head. “Well then, you can just follow me (y/n). Miss Lee, you can take a seat in the waiting area where there’s water and some snacks if you get a bit hungry or anything. My receptionist, Taehyung, will assist you if you need any help. I’ll try not to take too long.” He reassured your mom and she then made her way towards the waiting room.
It was just the two of you in the front lobby and you can hear Jimin moving around. You finally put your phone down and into your pocket as you watched him take a clipboard and a couple of papers from a nearby table and examining them. “One minute (y/n), let me grab something from the printer. I’ll be right back.” You simply nod and he takes off to wherever he needed to be. Once you were alone, you let out a deep breath and took a look at your surroundings to thoroughly examine the place. It was very well kept and bright. The walls were a soft yellow and the floor consisted of beautiful, white marble. Being an architect major with a minor in interior design, you’ve learned to appreciate the little details in buildings. It was your passion and the fact that this place was aesthetically pleasing made your heart happy. You then looked at the mat by your foot that read Meraki[1] Fitness Studio written in intricate lettering and you smiled softly at the name.
“You should smile more often; you look beautiful when you do.” Jimin’s soft voice interrupted your thoughts and you immediately stopped smiling and frowned at him making him raise a brow and smirk. “I’ve got the paperwork ready now. Let’s go over this back in my office.” He says as he pointed towards the back of the shop and started walking, you followed behind him a couple of steps back. You passed by many rooms, a few occupied with some classes and others with just a one-on-one session. You finally made it to a darker room that completely contrasted with the outside. The walls were garnet red and the floor consisted of warmed-tone tiles. To the right was a dark chocolate love seat sofa and in front of it was a small, black coffee topped with some magazines. In the middle of the room was a wooden desk and once you looked up to examine more of the room you saw Jimin looking at you with his face resting on the back of his hand. Once he caught you looking he shot you a warm smile which caught you off guard and caused you too look down as a tinge of blush covered your cheeks.
“Feel free to look around more. You seem to enjoy looking at our interior.” He said watching you from his desk as you were still looking down at the ground in embarrassment. Cute he thought to himself. “If not, come take a seat.” You slowly nodded and sat in front of him.
“So, at first I thought you were a bit rude when you were with your mother but when she’s not around you seem really sweet. Is there a reason why?” He asked, genuinely curious.
You looked up to find his eyes staring directly into yours and you averted your own to look at the wall behind his head. “We don’t really get along quite well…” You softly replied.
“Oh I see. I don’t want to pressure you into telling me exactly why right now, but since you’re my client I want you to become comfortable around me. I hope to hear about it in the future if you’re willing to that is.” You hummed in response and he continued. “Well let’s get this stupid paperwork done with. Ugh, I hate paperwork so much. Don’t you?” He laughed as he grabbed the clipboard. “First of all, what’s your full name?”
“Lee (y/n).”
“Okay, age?”
“21.”
“Really? We’re the same age!” Jimin smiled and his eyes turned into little crescents which caused you to smile back. “Okay now…weight?” He noticed you shift your eyes down again and quickly stated, “Don’t worry (y/n) I will never judge you for your weight. You are already beautiful as is. This is just for our records.”
“…164.”
“Not bad at all. Now how about your height?”
“5 feet 2 inches.”
“Any health illnesses?”
“None that I know of.”
“Okay we’re done with page one. Next up is your schedule. You can fill this out yourself as I go through the next section.” He said as he handed you the sheet of paper with a blank schedule template and a pencil. You quickly scribbled your schedule onto it as he started on another paper. Once you were done you slid the pencil and paper back towards him and he examined it.
“Free Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays after 12 pm…Tuesdays and Thursday after 2 pm. Not too bad. Saturdays and Sundays are free which is good too. I’m guessing you don’t work?”
“Not as of now.”
“More time for me then.” He whispered with a soft smile. “Now it’s about your eating habits. Do you count your calories?”
“Never done that in my life.” You murmured and he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
“Same here to be honest. I would be surprised if someone said they did. How many times a day do you eat?”
“Just the normal, three times per day and some snacks in between.”
“Are you interested in having a meal plan along with the training? That way I can monitor what you eat too.”
“I don’t really care that much. I guess.”
“Alrighty. Lastly, do you actually agree to all of this or are you being forced to?” He asked as he once again looked into your eyes.
“My mom really wants me to do this so I guess so.”
“No. You definitely don’t need to be start this if you truly don’t want to. I want you to actually be into this. You’re the only person I will be training and I wouldn’t want to force you do things you wouldn’t like.” He stated while looking at you with such a serious gaze that somehow caused you to look back at him.
“I mean; I don’t mind it. I’m kind of overweight so I could use the exercise…” You answered.
“Are you sure?” His gaze still strong on you. You simply nodded and he began to write a couple more things onto the papers. “Well, I believe in you as long as you believe in yourself. I’m not going to lie. Changing your eating habits and working out is going to be hard at first but after the first month your body will get used to it. I really look forward to our first session which should be tomorrow. Which is Wednesday at 2 pm. I’m giving you homework too. Once you go home I want you to record what you eat for dinner tonight and whatever you eat before coming to the studio. Don’t leave out a snack either.” He said with an amused face as your face reddened slightly. “Well, this is it. How about I lead you back to the front? Wouldn’t want your mother to wait too long.” He said with a wink as he got up from his seat and you did as well.
He opened the door and guided you to the front with one of his hands resting on the small of your back which caused you to shiver slightly. Once you reached the front your mom’s face brightened at Jimin.
“So will you be training her from now on?” She asked with an overly sweet voice that made you cringe.
Jimin only smiled at the older woman and replied, “Yes, tomorrow at 2 will be our first session.”
“That’s just great! I’m excited for her. I’ve already paid the down payment with Mr. Kim. He’s a charming boy if I must say so myself. Any who, thank you so much Mr. Park.” She said while grabbing his free hand. She let go and turned to face you with a forced smile. “Let’s get going sweetie. You have school tomorrow as well as that session.” And she turned around to head outside.
Both you and Jimin stood there a second before you realized you should get going. As you took a step forward, you felt his hand grip your wrist.
“I forgot to ask you for your number.” He said as you looked at him confused. “You know, for work purposes.” He added as you nodded in realization. He then handed his phone to you so you could type in your name and number. Once you gave it back to him he gave your shoulder a light squeeze. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
“Alright.” You replied as you turned around and headed outside. Once you got into the car your mom eyed you with disgust before looking forward again.
“Look at how low you make this car dip when you get in. So fat. I can’t wait until you look like human being instead of a pig. I hope that Jimin guy works you to the bone.” She said as she started the car. You simply ignored her comment, already used to the verbal abuse that has been going on for years. “I don’t know why I never thought of getting you a personal trainer since your lazy ass doesn’t go to the gym. You better go to each session you hear me?”
You only nodded and stared out of the window to block out the rest of her nagging during the car ride. Once you got home you went straight to your room and lock the door then just climbed onto bed. It was only 11 am now but you already felt drained of energy. You felt your sleepiness start to overtake you when suddenly your phone vibrated and a notification popped up. You grabbed it to see what it was and saw a number you didn’t recognize but from the text you knew who it was from.
I’m looking forward to working with you tomorrow beautiful. :) - Park Jimin
You smiled at the message and saved his number into your phone. I guess it won’t be too bad after all. You thought to yourself.
