THE EMERALD PARIAH

A few months back I entered the monthly VGen challenge\contest for the “PARADE” theme, and again I have returned with another challenge prompt piece, this time for the theme: EMERALD.

I’ve noticed that I seem to drift toward drawing off-putting figures and weirdos in challenges like this. Someone seems to have lost an arm. Experimented a little with my usual process this time too, so hopefully it turned out nicely.

Was commissioned to illustrate this emotional scene from Oathbringer for a client a while back. They’ve decided to not respond to any of my messages, so I don’t think I’m ever getting paid for it.

I’m fond of it, so I hope some of you out there can derive some happiness from it where my client apparently couldn’t.

Half a timelapse from last night’s post where I drew a human version of my cat, Choco, with some alt/uncolored versions for whoever might enjoy.

I need to remember to manually start the timelapse each time I start a new file too, so if one of my timelapses starts halfway feel free to mock me. I appreciate all the support on my last post, so thank you for that also.

Something a little different today, a human character design of my girlfriend’s cat, Choco.

He’s a strange little gremlin in the way that cats often are; a bug-eyed, nippy little thing. In cat years he’s apparently 21, so I wanted a youthful yet rough-around-the-edges looking design that captures his almost feral energy. If you all really like this, I’ll probably draw him in some more dynamic poses. Either way I have half of this piece’s time-lapse (I forgot) and some other Choco related material to post tomorrow, so ho-hum.

Right now he’s sleeping on a blanket next to me. I wonder if he ever dreams of being human, or what that might mean to him. Either way, we love him very much, even when he’s being a goblin.

THE POTTED PYGMY

Haven’t been able to post much the past month. Ho-hum. Between commissions and moving into a new flat I have been far more busy than I’d like, so apologies if you’re one of the few who’ve even noticed my absence.

This one is a portrait of one of my own characters — one that I’d like to make a proper character sheet of at some point — but who knows when that will happen. Either way, I appreciate all of you who’ve stuck around, and also just all the support in general. Hope this brings you some joy.

I've never made anything quite like this before, but I hope this one brings all of you cultists and demon worshippers out there some joy.

This one was done for a client, Derin, and I sincerely hope this has brought him some joy also. It was a pleasure to work on.

As for what's next? Unsure. I've been in a somewhat long hiatus lately while I move into a new flat, but things seem to be nearing their end. I'll try to find some time to polish up some unfinished illustrations of mine to post.
