Autistic Burnout and Skill Regression (artist pov)

Imagine me this at around 13/14 you decide “Hey i really love the art this I think i want to make a career out of this” so you decide to apply the best art magnet high school and for 4 years you work your ass off to improve your skills and hey you actually get a lot better, and you make some of your best work. But by the end of senior you’ll burnt yourself out on the fire you lit under your ass. So when you get to college you take a little art break first semester and now you’re in your second semester and you’re coming to the terrifying you have forgotten almost every art skill you learned…

Now wtf am I supposed to do with that. My strong suit with art use to be compositions like I could whip those shits out of my ass and my teacher always had something nice to say about the composition of my work, now I can’t figure out how to post a character standing still???? what. the. hell. I know the answer is just I have to lock in a relearn everything again, but god damn that hurts. I fells like I was a 5 star runner learning how to walk again :/ I just miss the artist and skill I use to have, because the shit was my whole idea it’s what I framed my entire self worth around, which I know def wasn’t healthy and honestly this is absolutely better for my mental health in the long run, but still it’s hurts bad I feel like I lost my first friend and like I peaked in high school

if i want to put a postive spin on all of this then this just means i just fall in love with art again for the first time and hopefully learn so better habits so this doesn’t happen again ig. Idk i just wanna hear other people thoughts on this cuz I also feel a bit alone in this experience with it statistically impossible
