Emily Gilbertson couldn't believe her best friend, little "Annie", was hitting it off so well with a handsome hot man. Emily watched her best friend laugh, be silly and drink beer while she got to know Sonny. Emily knew how self-conscious Anna was, but she never understood why. Anna was a beautiful young lady with a killer smile, big chocolate eyes and a figure to die for. Emily wasn't interested in her date anymore. She was just so excited to see her friend happy and open with someone.

Anna hadn't experienced anything like it. she hadn't experienced anything like that, she liked Sonny, he was cute, hot, funny, sweet and unique. The way she felt around him was new; she always felt old beyond her years and that she was too scared to enjoy life. When Anna is with Sonny, she feels her age, happy and light, as if she can grab life by the balls and take on anything thrown at her. Sonny made her feel like Anna, not Annie or the girl who follows Emily Gilbertson around like a puppy. She was her own person with him, and she liked that feeling very much indeed.

Sonny never thought he could feel like this. After one coffee date cut short because of his career and two beers with this amazing young woman, he thinks he might be head over heels for Anna Diaz. All of his insecurities seem to vanish when he is around her. The horrors he saw at work daily, plus the pressure he was under from his family, his team, and himself, was unbelievable. For the past few months, Sonny has struggled to find a genuinely happy moment. When he has been with Anna, all he has felt is happiness, like a massive weight has been lifted off his shoulders.

It was 1 am when the group left the bowling alley quite drunk, and they were merry, laughing and talking with each other. Sonny and Anna stayed at the back of the group in their own little world. "so this is it. I'll see you Tuesday night for dinner ?"  Anna asked, hopefully giving the man in front of her the best doe-eyed look she could with the amount of alcohol she had in her system. "Anna, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I can't wait to spend more time with you," The blonde man confessed as he stared into her eyes, getting lost in them. "Sonny, I like you. I'm looking forward to our date" Sonny felt ecstatic. He couldn't determine if it was Anna's statement or the sincerity he felt from the girl. "I like you too, Anna, very much, but you, my dear girl, are very drunk, and you need water and your bed. So I'm going to call you an Uber to get you home" All of a sudden, Anna felt tired, and the beer hit her. When the Uber arrived, Anna and Emily slid into the car's back seat with Sonny's help. When the girls were safely in the car, Sonny leaned in, pecked Anna on the lips before closing the door, and asked her to text him in her dorm room so he knew she was safe. The door shuts, and they pull off, leaving both Anna and Sonny giddy with happiness about each other.

*Tuesday Evening*

Sonny: I'm outside, Doll, in the Uber. Are you ready to go? Anna:  Yeah, give me a couple of seconds. I will be right down.

Anna came downstairs in a pink dress that flaunted her figure with black strappy heels. She ran out to the Uber, impressing Sonny in the process of running in heels. Finally, Anna got into the back of the car and closed the door. "Hello, handsome, You look good in a suit, Sonny", Anna greeted as she eyed the man up in down. "Hello Yourself, Doll; you look incredible tonight" Anna blushed at Sonny's compliment. The date was a dream for the pair, one of the best dates they had ever been on. They both didn't want to drink, Sonny was at work the following day, and Anna had class followed by lunch with her Aubella and her aunt Rita. Nevertheless, as they left the restaurant, the pair were smitten with each other leaving the restaurant, they were in their little bubble, and no one at that moment existed in the world. Anna leaned in and started to kiss Sonny with tounges in the middle of the street. A few weeks ago, Anna hated the thought of public affection, but with Sonny, she doesn't have a care in the world. "Doll, I live just down the street. Do you fancy coming in for a cup of coffee?" Anna felt like she had just had an ice bucket tipped over her; this is what she had been dreading. "Sonny, Im just going to come out and say it, Im a virgin. Im not ready for anything. I hope you understand, and I get it if you do not want to see me again or go for someone with experience." Anna looked down at her feet, ashamed. Sonny lifted her face by her chin with two fingers. "Anna, I like you. I'm not interested in a fling, im looking for the real thing here. I will wait for eternity for you if you are the woman I think you are." Sonny kissed the girl's lips, trying to pour his feelings into the kiss. Anna couldn't believe it, she had found the perfect man, and he liked her, her of all people; she felt like she was on cloud nine. "Sonny, thank you for understanding. I appreciate you waiting for me." Anna whispered, still breathless from the kiss.

*Sonny's Apartment*

The apartment itself was small, but it was cosy and homely. Anna loved apartments like this, which reminded her that new york wasn't full of people looking for high-end real estate at costly rates. Sonny's apartment smelled like vanilla, and she felt safe. "I know it's not much, but it is home." The blonde man eyed the girl nervously. "That's why it's perfect, Sonny" Anna gave the man one of her killer smiles, and he instantly felt at ease. "Come into the kitchen, Doll. I'll get the coffee started for us," Anna agreed and followed the man into the kitchen.

"So tell me about your family doll. We spent loads of time discussing mine; we didn't discuss yours" Sonny waited for the girl to open up. "My aubela is the matriarchy of the household. She is terrific, strong, kind and many other things. My aubela was my grandmother and mother all rolled into one. My dad went to college on a full scholarship when I was a baby, and he did it to provide himself and me with a better future and opportunities. He went to Harvard, and I stayed in the Bronx with my aubela. We are a small family, but my god, we are mighty; we are so close nothing will come between us." Sonny hung on to every word that Anna was saying while Anna stared into her glass as she told the story. "what about your mom?" Sonny asked innocently. "My mom walked out on my dad and me when I was six weeks old. They were both very young, and I think she was just overwhelmed, and after she left, it was just too hard to come back. If you had a child, would you want to be a part of their life? I know I would. She is probably out there somewhere, regretting what she had done all those years ago. I've tried to look for her; I found a census entry for her, dated six months after she left in LA, but the trail ran cold from there." Sonny felt pity and sadness for the girl and couldn't understand why anyone could leave their child like that. " I wanna find her, Sonny, show her im not angry with her and hopefully finally have a relationship with her."  Anna smiled at her daydream " I hope you are right, doll", Sonny sighed as he had a horrible feeling in his stomach.

" Does your dad still practise law?" Sonny asked to change the subject. "Yeah, he does. He is an ADA" Sonny was surprised he couldn't think of an ADA with the last name of Diaz. "what's his name? I may know him," Sonny quizzed as his heart hammered out of his chest, awaiting her answer. "Rafael Barba", Anna answered matter of factly. "Shit, no, Anna, no. He is the ADA on my team. I'm a detective with Manhattan's Special Victims Unit. Anna looked at the man, horrified. Suddenly she thought she liked Sonny and Sonny liked her. Why does she have to give him up? This was the happiest she had ever felt, and she didn't want to let go. "Sonny, I know this is not ideal, but I'm Anna around you. I'm happy when I'm with you, and I like you a lot. Let's keep this a secret for now and see how things go. If we go on to go separate ways, no foul was done, but if we make it, my dad will have to learn to love it. What do you say? Take a chance?" Anna could hear the blood pumping her body with adrenaline. It felt like hours waiting for Sonny's answer, but it was only a minute or two. "Yes, Doll, let's give it a go, You and me. I know this might be too soon, rash, or fast, but will you be my girlfriend? I can't stop thinking about you, Anna Diaz." Sonny spurred out as he was nervous to ask. "I don't care how soon or rash it is, and the truth is I feel the same way about you. I would love to be your girlfriend, Sonny Carisi. Both smiled like idiots until Sonny leaned over the breakfast bar and kissed Anna. "That is never going to get old", Anna stated, still with her eyes closed, reeling from the kiss.

Sonny took Anna by the hand and guided her to the sofa, where they laughed, talked and told each other stories from their pasts. It was 3 am when Anna let out a yawn. She thought she covered the yawn well, but Sonny immediately picked up on it. "Doll, take my bed; I'll take the sofa. I don't trust cab drivers this time of night. I've seen too many horrors of women getting cabs late at night." Sonny stood up and extended his hand out to help Anna up. "Sonny, I don't want you to give up your bed. I'll take the sofa." Anna tried to reason with the detective. "Absolutely not, Doll. You get my bed. End of story."  Anna got into the comfy double bed and immediately dreamed of Sonny.

*The Next Day*

Anna woke up late to her phone buzzing on Sonny's bedside table. She could still hear Sonny softly snoring. She looked at the time and realised she had missed her morning classes as it was 1 pm. she had over a hundred missed calls collectively from her tutors, Emily, her aubela and her dad. "Shit", Anna cursed as she jumped up to get ready to leave Sonny's apartment. As she was clumsily pulling her dress over her head and trying to get an uber, Sonny walked into his bedroom half asleep, trying to work out what was going on. "Doll, everything alright?" Sonny quizzed the girl "Sonny, we have slept in. It's gone 1 pm. I've missed most of my classes, and people are looking for me," Anna explained. "Doll, it will be ok. Once they realise that you are safe, they will be happy. Of course, your tutors will want you to do the catch-up, but you are smart. You can do it, and it is not as if we are going to make a habit of this, is it?" Anna relaxed at his words. "you're right, handsome, and I really need to get back, though. My uber is outside." Sonny nodded, threw on a jacket and walked his girlfriend to her uber. "Text me to let me know you are back home, ok please, doll." he leaned in and pecked his girlfriend on the lips as she got into the uber.

Anna opened her dorm room to find her dad, her abuela and Emily talking to a police officer. "What's going on?" Anna asked the room that hadn't yet noticed her. Rafael's head span so quickly that Anna was sure he would have whiplash. "Where the hell have you been?" Rafael demanded in his lawyer voice. "Annie, Are you ok?!" Emily half asked, half shouted. Lucia was too busy hugging the life out of Anna to ask anything.   "Aubela, I can't breathe. Im fine, I went to dinner last night with a few friends from class and ended up back in their dorm hall for a few drinks afterwards, and I fell asleep in the common room and slept in." Anna lied through her teeth to the people she loved the most and didn't know how to feel about it. "What about your date with what's his name? Dan, no Greg, no Simon, that was it, Simon." Anna was grateful that Emily could not remember Sonny's name. " I blew him off, and I don't have time for a relationship. I need to find a job to get work experience and cash. I have school and maintain relationships with my family and friends. "You sure you didn't go on a date, Annie?" Rafael asked to ensure he didn't need to threaten any boy with an inch of his life to protect his daughter. "I'm sure, dad, I got what I need right here in this room. A relationship will be much later on." Anna couldn't help but think of Sonny and how much he belonged to be in this room. Anna realised that it would be difficult but worth the result.

You were so tired. Your 18-month baby Axel had been waking up all hours of the night, leaving yourself and your husband running on average two hours of sleep each night for about three and half weeks. It was a Friday morning when you realised six scoops of coffee wouldn't be strong enough for the day as you were utterly exhausted. So you made a rash decision and told your babysitter Lucy before work that Axel wasn't allowed to nap during the day in hopes that he would sleep through the night.

Rafael and yourself were sat in the bullpen listening to Sargent Munch rant about big brother security cameras, too tired to tell him to shut up. When you're tired, you tend to screw up, forget facts, and have your eye off the ball. You could cry with exhaustion. Rafael was utterly different. He was very ill-tempered. Everyone feared Rafael when he was exhausted or sick. "Rafa, why are you bad-tempered lately?"  Olivia asked, lightly running her fingers through your husband's hair. "I need a new bed, Liv. I havent slept in about a month." Rafael stood up and walked over to the coffee pot and poured two cups of coffee, one for you and one for himself. Rafael placed the cup in front of you. You knew it would be a long day.

6:30 pm Rafael and yourself arrived home. You put your shoes away and hung your coat and purse. You stored your gun and badge in the hall safe and entered your apartment to find Lucy and Axel. Lucy was wrestling a tired, frustrated Axel out of his clothes for his night bath. "Hey Lucy, how has today been? Everything been ok?" Lucy gave you a death glare. " Don't ever make me do that again. He has been awful. He is normally a sweet happy go lucky little boy, and today he was the devil." Lucy was tearing up. You never heard her speak like this, especially not about Axel. She adored him. "Im sorry, Lucy, but we need him back into a routine. We need to sleep." Lucy gave you a pitying look.

When lucy left, you helped Rafael bathe a sleep-deprived Axel; after you bathed him and dressed him in his PJs, you refused to put him down to sleep until you were ready to go to bed. The next three hours were hell. You and Rafael did everything in your power to keep Axel awake. He screamed through your and Rafael's dinner, so much so that you couldn't hear yourself think.

10 pm

You finally put Axel down for the night. No issues getting him down to sleep, not like previous nights. You prayed to anyone listening for Axel to sleep through, and you and your husband could finally get enough sleep to function. Finally, you head to bed, where Rafael was already asleep.

1 am You and Rafael woke up to Axel crying loudly. Both you and Rafael groaned. "I'll go, Carino. Go back to sleep" Rafael got out of bed to soothe his son.

2 am You woke to Rafael getting back into bed, putting a very awake Axel between you and Rafael. "Baby, why is Axel in bed with us?" You asked groggily. "Im done with this cycle Carino, we are going to a doctor tomorrow and getting him back to normal, but for now, he is staying in our bed." Twenty minutes after Axel was brought to your bed, he was flat out asleep on your sleeping husband's chest. You didn't mind that you would be tired and cranky, but you couldn't help staring at the scene before you; how could you not? It is your entire world.

9 am You wake to the sunlit streaming into your room. You look to your left to see your husband fast asleep, with Axel lying awake on his chest. " good morning, sweet boy", you whispered as you pulled Axel over for a cuddle, finally feeling somewhat refreshed. As you pull Axel out of Rafael's grasp, Axel's foot connected with Rafael's groin, causing Rafael to wake up and hunch over in pain. "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" Axel half shouted, half scolded out as his pain was evident. "Im sorry, baby, it was Axel's foot" as the pain dulled into manageable, he came over to you and Axel and cuddled into the both of you.

Later on

You and Rafael sat in the doctor's office, waiting to be seen by Dr Hauts, while Axel played with the building blocks. "Carino, you don't think anything is wrong with him, do you?" you could tell that Rafael was worried about Axel, that his sleeping pattern was because of an underlying condition or some pain that he couldn't verbally tell you and your husband about. he would never forgive himself if the pair of you have just been dismissing him and putting it down to wanting to be awake constantly. " I'm not sure, and I hope not. But, I do know one thing. We are strong, and if there is something wrong with Axel, we will work together to get through it and ensure Axel returns to 100% healthy." You look at your husband. He grabs your hand and brings it to his lips, and places a small kiss on the back of it. "your right Carino, We will get through this together, no matter what."

It turns out Axel is just being awkward and is 100% healthy; Dr Hauts thinks that your son is hitting a fussy stage and will grow out of it soon enough. Although in the meantime, the doctor does recommend shorter naps in the daytime, lavender oil body massage after bath time, A night light projector for the ceiling and a music player that plays soft, soothing tones that will help him drift into a blissful long sleep. Right away, you order the items from amazon on next-day delivery and follow the doctor's instructions on the naps.

You put Axel down for 7:30 pm after his body massage with his new lavender oil; Rafael insisted that you buy the best, as he didn't want his son to have an allergic reaction to the oil, and when the oil arrived, he tried it for the rest of the day on his arm just to be on the safe side. You were surprised when Axel cried awake, "Carino, it is your turn," Rafael mumbled and moved to his back, allowing himself to wake up. You get up and head to the nursery to pick Axel up. You looked at the clock in the hallway, and it marked 6:45 am. You smiled, knowing you could finally get back to normal.

Only 1pp knew about your marriage with Detective Dominick "call me Sonny" Carisi. You both met in college on the first day when he sat next to you and asked to borrow a pen. You and Sonny started dating 2 weeks later, moved in together after college. Unexpectedly the first Christmas you were cops for the NYPD, Sonny spontaneously proposed to you in your living room and of course you said yes. You had a very small intimate wedding with family only 2 years ago, 6 months you both made detective. When Sonny worked homicide you both decided to keep your relationship as quiet as possible to keep each other safe.

You were lying in bed on Sonny making out with him, you could feel his hands going into your shorts when both your work cell phones began to ring. You groaned in frustration when Sonny made his way out of the room to take his call while you took yours while your team didn't get suspicious. When you finish on the call with Liv you make your way to the kitchen to find your husband.

"All the squad is needed upstate doll, did Liv tell you?" He puts his hands on your hips as you stand in front of him.

"Yeah she said. I'm worried Sonny, this is the first time we will be asleep together in the same room as the squad. What of something bad happens?"

" Nothing bad is going to happen, I will be right there, I won't let anything happen to you, Y/N Carisi." You smile and press your lips to him before you start to get ready for work.

You and all the squad are piled into a minivan while Captain Benson drives you all upstate to interview a rape homicide victim's family and friendship group. While on the way up you decided to put in your earphones and catch up on your beauty sleep.

*10pm that night*

All of the squad piled into the family hotel room tired from the day with the victims loved ones there was six single beds and 1 double. Before you could blink Benson, Dodds, Barba, Finn, Amanda and Amaro had claimed them meaning you and Sonny were going to have to share. Sonny was still the annoying new guy, everyone was giggling that you had to share with your husband.

When everyone was ready for sleep you all got into bed, it took all you will not to turn into your husband, throw one leg across him and snuggle into his chest while you lazily make out with him. Somehow you managed to fall asleep, cold on the edge of the opposite side of the bed to Sonny.

You woke up with Sonny pressed into your back little spooning you, not thinking as your half asleep you turn round to face himand kiss him on the lips.

"What the fuck?!?!" Both yours and your husband's eyes flew open and landed on the full squad watching the pair of you sleep.

"Why are you watching us like weirdos?" Sonny threw back at them trying to divert the question.

"Why are you cuddling Y/L/N Carisi? She should of jumped 50 feet when she realised you were touching her" Amaro scoffed at the scene, shocked at what he witnessed.

"Nick stop it, Sonny is my husband. I wouldn't jump 50 feet when I physically relax at his touch." You snuggle back into him while he played with your hair to help you wake up.

"The brass already know, we have declared our relationship when we joined the acdemy" Sonny was trying to diffuse the situation.

"Look when we are back in the city I will cook dinner and explain everything, but right now we have a job to do." You close the questions before they got personal before 8am.

"This isn't over Carisi, Y/L/N. We want to know everything!" Olivia stared you down while the rest of squad looked like that cat who caught the canary.

You don't know what was going to happen, but you knew everything would be okay as you have Sonny by your side.

Anna put on her coat before leaving for Sonny's tinder date. It was a chilly morning in the city as winter was looming, but anna still looked cute in her jeans and white jumper. "If he is a creep, Anna climb out of the bathroom window" Emily was trying to help her best friend with her first-ever actual date. Please, Emily, stop. It will be fine. I'm sure." Anna grabbed her keys at 10:55 am to leave for her date with Sonny.

She texted Sonny to tell him she had arrived at the coffee shop, and she ordered herself a large black coffee with two sweet and lows. Then, she looked around the shop for a table and grabbed one near the door if her best friend was correct about the man. Sonny entered the shop and ordered himself a latte. He was nervous about his date. Sonny thought this Anna chick was too good to be true. Maybe Amanda was right. He was too much like a lost puppy for a relationship and will be single forever. Sonny sighed and scanned the shop for his date, and then he saw her sipping on her coffee. She looked perfect.

"Anna?" Sonny approached the table where his date was sat. "Sonny! Hey," Anna stood to greet the blonde man and hugged him; both parties sat down to start their date. The couple were awkward with each other, not knowing what to say. "So um, are you Italian?" Anna was trying to fill the awkwardness in with questions. both of them were so nervous they were tongue-tied with each other. "Yeah, Doll, my family are from Rome; my grandfather on both sides were best friends, and my grandmothers were best friends too. The two couples moved over in the 1940s together." Anna smiled at the man who was happy to talk about his family. She was delighted at the pet name sonny had given her as well. Usually, she hated pet names and nicknames, but somehow the blondie made the pet name seem sophisticated. The couple started to warm up with one another and exchange funny stories, book and movie recommendations.

Anna and Sonny both felt butterflies in their stomach's the longer they stayed with each other. Then, the ringtone of Anna's cellphone made her jump, the large hot cup of coffee spilt down her white jumper, scolding her in the process. She panicked and ran to the restroom, took off her jumper and splashed all water where the coffee burnt her.  She couldn't believe her luck an amazing man was interested in her and she had to ruin it with her clumsy ass. she looked at her white jumper on the floor wondering how she was going to fix it.

There was a knock on the bathroom door while anna was trying to look presentable for her date. Sonny's arm came around the door as he handed her a light grey NYPD jumper; usually, she saw cops in them in her gym. She gratefully accepted the item of clothing and threw the jumper on. She smiled to herself; the sweatshirt was far too oversized for her, and it smelt like sonny; Anna could get used to that. Anna exited the bathroom and went back to the table where her date sat. Unfortunately, he had been called back to work, something about a significant bust on a lead, and he needed to be there to help his squad.

Anna didn't mind at all. She could see how passionate sonny was about his job and how determined he was to get justice where he could. Sonny walked the younger girl back to her dorm hall. When they reached the front of the building, Anna turned to face sonny.

"Thank you for a great afternoon, Sonny", the blonde man smiled wholeheartedly. "No, thank you, Doll. I had fun on our date today. I would love to take you out again sometime. What do you say?" Anna broke out a grin as Sonny held his breath, waiting for her answer. "Sonny, I would love to go for a second date with you. Just name a time and a place, and I will be there." Sonny sighed in relief; he couldn't explain it. Anna made him feel 10x lighter.

Anna moved forward and kissed Sonny's lips, pulling away straightaway. "Im sorry, I shouldn't have done that. I didn't ask. didn't check it  would be ok with you." Anna panicked as she didn't want to freak the perfect man out. Sonny chuckled and lent in for another kiss which Anna accepted. Their tounges battled for dominance, and Sonny won. After what seemed like forever, the pair pulled away from each other out of breath. Both Sonny and Anna felt the fireworks go off when their lips sealed.

Anna flopped down on her bed when she got back into her dorm room. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face. She thinks she has found the perfect man ever, and he liked her back. She couldn't get over the fantastic kiss they just shared with each other. Sonny tasted like coffee and a hint of mint and something that was just Sonny. Emily barged into the shared dorm room with her laundry basket in her hand.

"How did it go, Annie?" Emily questioned her best friend "He was everything I expected and more Em." Anna got up off her bed with a massive smile she couldn't get rid of her face.

"Im going to go study in the library for a while. Are we still going out tonight?" " Yeah, of course, there is a group of Fordham Law students going bowling tonight, and I have my eye on Andy for tonight." The girls giggled. Anna usually hated going out with Emily when she had her eye on a guy, and it usually ended with Anna wearing earplugs in bed. Little did Anna know that fate was a funny thing.

*Later on*

Sonny had been texting Anna. They arranged to go out on Tuesday evening for dinner in a small but cute Italian restaurant. Honestly, Anna couldn't wait. all she had to do was get through an evening of Emily trying to get laid. Anna finished applying her makeup. She wore skinny black jeans and a halterneck black ring crop top with some heels.

The girls uber arrived, and they headed to the bowling alley to meet the boys; when they got to the establishment, Emily ordered both girls some beers to get them into the Saturday night spirit before the others turned up. Anna watched Emily run towards a group of men. She greeted them all but only hugged one. The group headed towards Anna and painted a fake smile on her face. "And this is the lovely Anna." Emily introduced her best friend, "Anna?!?!" she snapped her head up to see Sonny standing in front of her in a green shirt, black jeans and boots. "Hey, Sonny" Anna's smile went from fake to real upon seeing the hot blonde man. "Im so pleased you and me were both dragged out by our friends. Best surprise I've had in a long while." Both Anna and Sonny were smiling like idiots at each other, forgetting about everyone else in the room. This would be an interesting night.

You were worried about your husband Rafael, he had been working so hard recently that you hadn't seen him in a week. He wouldn't leave his office, he would sleep for a couple hours and get right back to work, he sent Carisi for a new suit everyday and his wash bag.The case was tricky, a navy officer had been raped by her superiours and then was held accountable for it.

The day the guilty verdict came in your husband could cry with happiness at the look of relief on the young veterans face. He watched the disgraced rapists be dragged off to the tombs, while the room emptied out. Rafael pulled out his phone and ordered an Uber and Chinese takeout for when he gets home to share with you. Prosecutor exited the courthouse and congratulated the victim on the trial outcome hoping that she can begin to heal. The pair were stood on the steps of the courthouse, chit chatting about what her next steps are when he saw his Uber pulled up. Rafael wished her luck with everything before he headed into his Uber to your shared apartment.

"Carino are you home?" He called out to the apartment.

You just got out of the shower after a very long testing day when you heard the one person that could make it all better. You walk out to the hallway to check you weren't just hearing things and there stood your husband taking his shoes off before he came into the main lounge.

You wrap yourself around your husband not caring that you have just got out of the shower and you are only wearing a towel. You hadn't seen your husband in ages and it was beginning to take a toll on you. You bury your nose into his neck and let him hold you tight.

"I missed you Rafi" you confessed to your husband

"I missed you too Carino" Rafael whispered out.

You stood holding each other in the hall for what seemed like forever. When you finally let out a shiver, Rafael tried to pull away to enter further into the apartment.

"Not yet, Rafael, I missed you, and you smell really nice ." Your husband chuckled as he ran his hands down your back to warm you up. After another 5 minutes, Rafael convinced you to leave him to shower while you got dressed before you caught a cold. While he was in the shower the takeout he ordered before leaving work came, you set the table for the both of you making sure to keep the food warm while you waited for your husband.

Rafael entered the room in his old Harvard t-shirt and a pair of plaid PJ bottoms.

"Carino, have you seen my robe I can't find it?" You feel your cheeks heat up with embarrassment while Rafael stared at you waiting for the answer.

"Erm it's at the dry cleaners, last night I was really missing you, I decided to wear it as I watched a movie and I spilled red wine down it and I couldn't get the stain out." You look anywhere but at your husband hoping that he won't be mad at you. It quiet for awhile and you can't stand it any longer and you force your self to look at him. He pulls you in for a kiss that makes you feel like the only girl in the world.

"Never apologise for that baby, im sorry for not coming home for a week. I'm sorry i was neglecting you. How about we have a long weekend for just us. By Tuesday you will be sick of me and you will beg me to go to work." Rafael gave you the look that you couldn't resist,

"It's a date."

Anna Diaz was sat at her laptop at her tiny desk working on some coursework for class in her Hudson dorm room she shared with her best friend, Emily Gilbertson. The two girls met in nursery school and have been inseparable since.

 Anna and Emily lived in the Bronx with their grandmothers, both for different reasons. Emily's mother, Carly Farr, was a cokehead prostitute, and her father, Darren Gilbertson, was her pimp doing 25 to life for killing a police officer. While Anna's mother, Lauren Sullivan, walked out on her and her father when she was six weeks old. Anna's father, Rafael Barba, was a different story; he was at Harvard Law School on a full scholarship, or he was working with the DA's office to get justice for victims and build a good life for his daughter and himself.

DING!!

Anna's phone alerted her that she had a new notification. She finished her paragraph and looked at the clock on her desk at 4:30 pm. She sighed and closed her laptop for the weekend, she had planned to catch a movie with Emily that evening, but Emily cancelled as she had a date with someone from her Biology class. Anna unlocked her phone to see the earlier notification was a text from her dad.

Hey Annie, Just wondering if you fancy grabbing dinner tonight?

Love you always, Darling.

Instead of texting her dad, Anna decided to call him. she pressed dial on her dad's number and waited for him to pick up.

"Hey, Dad, I've just seen your text. When and where am I meeting you?" Anna cheerfully spoke on the phone.

"How about I pick you up at six, and we will go to Abuela's together?" Rafael asked his daughter.

"That sounds great, Dad. I will see you at six" Anna smiled at the thought of a home-cooked meal with her family.

"Great! I love you, Annie."

"I love you too, dad. Bye." Anna killed the line and headed to the shower to freshen up for her Abuela. 

After Anna freshened up for dinner with her family, she had an hour to kill. She headed to the common room to see if anyone was hanging out, but it was empty. Anna sat down on one of the sofa's in the common room and scrolled through her social media. It was all boring. Her friends were all posting cute pictures of themselves and their boyfriends. Anna sighed and opened up the Tinder app on her phone, and no one was catching her eye. Anna was swiping left like there was no tomorrow. Finally, after fifteen minutes of swiping left, Anna stopped dead in her tracks. There was a man on her screen that was drop-dead gorgeous. "Sonny" Had amazing baby blue eyes, blonde hair that Anna would love to run her hands through and a killer smile. 

"fuck it," she said to the room of nobody and swiped right for Sonny.

Anna and Sonny instantly matched. She was shocked that she had a chance with this perfect man, but she wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I'm looking forward to a couple of days off from work, do you have any plans this weekend?

Anna: I'm currently waiting for my dad to pick me up from my dorm hall, and we are going to have a family dinner with my Abuela, but I have no plans for the rest of the weekend.

Sonny: I doubt it!

What are you studying?

Anna: I'm studying Criminal Justice at Hudson. I love it, and the course is so interesting.

Sonny: No way!

I'm a detective for the NYPD

Anna: Your right, Detective Sonny, it must be. 

My dad will be here in a few, and I need to get my coat and shoes on. Talk later on?

Sonny: Absolutely!

Anna exits the app and locks her phone; she heads back to her dorm to collect her coat and shoes. Once Anna is ready, she closes her dorm room and leaves her building just as her father pulls up in an uber. Anna climbs into the SVU next to her father.

"Hey dad, How was work?"

"New detective driving me insane still, but he admires me, so I think I will keep him around." He smirks at his daughter to let her know he is playing with her.

"How's school, Annie? Everything still ok?" Anna knows it was a big shock to her father's system when she moved out at eighteen two months ago to live in a dorm, but Anna craved independence somewhere she could be Anna and not Annie.

"Everything is great, dad. I've settled in, I've made some great friends, and I love my classes." Anna smiles at her dad 

"I'm proud of you, Annie! You are handling everything so well."

"Dad", Anna whined like a child; Rafael laughed and said nothing more on the subject.

"Annie!" Lucia screamed as she opened the door to her son and granddaughter.

"Hey Abuela", Anna hugged her grandmother and entered the apartment. She took off her coat and hung it in the closet.

"Dinner will be ready in ten minutes, darling, and I made Ropa Vieja, your Favourite Annie." Lucia kissed Anna's cheek before she went back into the kitchen. After dinner, the little family decided to play cards together. Just as Anna was dealing the third hand, Rafael's cell rang out.

"I've got to take this. It's work." Rafael snuck out into the hallway to deal with his call.

"Annie tell me, any lucky fellas?" Anna resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

"No, I want to focus on school and friends for now. But if I do manage to get someone, you will be the first to know." Rafael enters the room just before Lucia can ask any more questions.

"Mami, I need to go. There have been developments in the case, and I need to be there." Lucia nods her heads 

"I understand, Rafi." Rafael turns to his daughter

"Want a lift back to school?" Anna nods and gets up to hug her Abuela goodbye and to put her coat on.

It is 10 pm when Anna returns to her dorm. Emily is back from her date already.

"Hey, how was the date?" Anna asked her best friend as she changed from her clothes to her PJs.

"Boring, he made me sit through a french war film, and he wanted to watch it and not make out. Can you believe that?" Emily scoffed while Anna giggled. Finally, Anna did her bedtime routine of skincare and brushing her teeth before getting into bed. Anna opened up Tinder again to speak to Sonny.

Anna: Hey handsome, How was your night?

Sonny Hello Doll

My night was good 

Not long finished work, and there is a cold beer with my name on it

Anna: I had a lovely home-cooked meal 

I played cards with my family

then got my love life questioned by my Abuela

Anna: The Bronx, you?

Sonny: Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Staten Island 

Anna: Oh, that's nice! 

I bet it was nice and quiet. 

Sonny Yeah, almost too quiet, doll.

Anna: Do you fancy meeting for a coffee tomorrow morning? I've got nothing planned. I want to get to know you a little better beyond a screen.

Sonny: Yeah, that would be fantastic, doll!

Anna didn't usually set up dates so quickly, but she had a very good feeling about the Sonny character she started to talk too. So if the date didn't go well, she could excuse herself, and if he turned out to be a creep, she could call her father. Anna was sure the squad her father talked about would help her. So Anna set her alarm for 8 am to get ready for her date with potential Mr. perfect.
