I've had the privilege of working with Bryn Hammond and Dariel Quiogue in the short story realm since I first began publishing with issue #0 of the magazine, so it is with great pride that I can announce the crowdfund for a book involving the two of them! Click pretty much anywhere in this post to go to the crowdfund and learn more about this wonderful project!

Issues one and two of New Edge Sword & Sorcery magazine are officially out. As editor & publisher, I'm very proud of what we've produced. The magazine features short stories and non-fiction, accompanied by gorgeous illustrations! They are available in digital, softcover, and hardcover formats...but the hardcover of #1 has already sold out!

In Sword & Sorcery the classics tend to get much more discussion than contemporary stories, and I love discussing stores, so welcome to the monthly contemporary Short Story Chat! In our latest episode we cover Mark Rigney's story from Tales from the Magician's Skull #7, "Dara's Tale". It struck me as a possible "YA S&S" tale, and was a great springboard for our panel to discuss the idea of MG/YA Sword & Sorcery, "timeless moral or ham-fisted topicality?", rubbing slugs on your face, and more! Check out past episodes on the New Edge Sword & Sorcery Youtube Channel.

My short story "Something Oath-Like" appears in this new anthology which is published by the guys behind the Sword & Sorcery podcast, Rogues in the House. The story stars my character Voe, making this the first published work featuring the protagonist my podcast's titular novel is about.

Hurray! The Kickstarter for issues #1&2 of New Edge Sword & Sorcery magazine was a success, raising 114% of the minimum funding we needed. It was a lot of work for me and my team, so I’m extra glad we cleared our minimum funding goal.

The Elder Sign podcast has an episode out today where I was on to discuss The Dark Eidolon by Clark Ashton Smith!
We discuss "more is more" in writing, how it's a Sword & Sorcery story to the core despite being so very different from Conan, sincerity in a text, and a whole lot more. I also read a favorite passage, and just MIGHT discuss a certain magazine whose Kickstarter launches soon.

In this special episode of Unknown Worlds of the Merril Collection, my last as host, I spoke with Kim Stanley Robinson on the subject of Climate Fiction, as well as his experiences with Judith Merril and the Merril Collection. Chris Dickie and I are hanging up our skates, but the plan is to organize a new host & producer team so that the show may continue.

My latest Sword & Sorcery short story, “Hunter” can be read in the new issue of Whetstone magazine - for free!  For fun, I had a voice actor friend do an audiobook style recording that you can hear, also for free, in a public Patreon post. It was one of those situations where a character just bursts into your head fully formed, and in this case it was so close to the submission deadline that I wasn’t sure I was gonna finish in time. Lucky me I did and, luckier still, the good folk at Whetstone bought the story.
