I'm not as active on here as I am on other platforms like twitter. But I want this on my page so no one gets confused.
I am staunchly pro-palestine.
I believe israel is actively committing genocide with the intent to completely flatten Gaza.
I do not believe that Israels actions are justified or that they are in any way "defending" themselves because of the actions that occurred on Oct 7th.
Because it didn't happen in a vaccum.
Palestine has been under brutal occupation since long before Oct 7th, 2023. Israel want this to be their 911, so they can justify the brutality they are unleashing upon the densely packed CIVILIAN population of Gaza.
An occupier cannot "defend" itself against the actions of those they occupy.
We are watching genocide and colonisation happen right in front of us. As a Maori woman, an indigenous woman whose ancestors faced the same type of brutal colonisation, the same type of dehumanisation, the expulsion from their homes and land, I stand firmly against Israel, and too be silent is too cosign the message Israel is sending.

I want to add that 40% of the Gaza population are children, and the average age of Gaza is only 18. 2.2 million people live in Gaza, Gaza, which has become an open-air prison for Palestinians.
Hamas, of whom actions I condemn, are a symptom of Israels apartheid of the Palestinian people, a direct result of the inhumane treatment Palestinians face at the hands of the Israeli Government and the IDF. Such treatment will only breed equal extremism. However, while both are horrific in action and rhetoric, Israels actions are cosigned by powerful allies who turn a blind eye to the war crimes they commit against a people and land who have no airforce, army or navy.
To cry Free Israel at the death of innocent Israeli citizens but remain wilfully ignorant of the decades of perpetuating atrocities commited against the Palestinians is to clearly say you deem certain people are worthy of life and freedom over others simply for race and religion.
From the Land to the Sea
Palestine will be free.

Honestly, I hope Iggy gets dragged for this.
Because how are you gonna bring up the misogny you faced in the industry in defense of a man who not only yelled "dance b*itch" before shooting at the ground and striking Meg in the foot BUT who then went on a smear campaign to diminish and devalue the public worth and opinion of that same woman, who was willing to lie about what happened because she knew exactly what kinda misogny she would face from peers and the public as a black woman if the truth became public. Like, where's the logic?
you're a dumb c*nt.

Hoziers "Butchered Tongue" hits so hard.
I should speak Te Reo as fluently as english.
My mothers first language should have been Te Reo.
My Nan and koro should not have had their language beaten from them as children.
I mourn something that was taken from me generations ago, something my mother mourns, and my grandmothers before her.

Yo its wild how people are justifiable calling out the colourism in the casting of Nani, by then trying to imposing the colonisers tool of blood quantum on Sydney and saying her being a 1/4 hawaiian means she isnt hawaiian enough. F*ck off with that shit. Among indigenous peoples, blood quantum was used as a tool to "breed" out the native population, a form of genocide to eradicate and assimilate.
For Maori, it doesnt matter if you are a blonde, blue eyed white girl, if you know your whakapapa, if you know where your people came from, where your land is. Your Maori.
I genuinely believe Sydney should step back from this role and push for a darker skinned Native Hawaiian to take the role, because Nani's existence as a dark skinned Hawaiian with features that are unequivocally native, played an integral part of how she lived and experienced life through the lens of colourism and how that colourism made her life harder. Darker skinned indigenous women are more likely to get there kids taken away by social services, are more likely to have reports made against that by "do good" neighbours, find it harder to get and keep jobs and then add being the single parent of a child and that becomes even harder.
