Oni?
“Anubis? Are those ribbons on ya horns there?” Karst asked, causing the tiefling boy to jump slightly.
“O-oh, um, yes,” Anubis reached back enough to pinch one of the light pink ribbons wrapped around his horns in between his fingers.
“Wait, horns?” The masked man said.
Suddenly, the man was in front of Anubis, reaching his hands towards Anubis’ face. Anubis’ brain started panicking, but before he could react, the masked man’s hands were on either side of his face. His touch was surprisingly soft as he ran his fingers along Anubis’ purple skin, and Anubis felt his face start warming up again. This felt way too intimate to be happening with someone Anubis barely knew, and with someone who made Anubis have this super nervous, flighty feeling in his stomach. He kind of wanted to run, but it wasn’t like the guy was hurting him or anything.
“Your face is very soft,” he said, his hands travelling up to Anubis’ hair.
“Th-thank y-you?” Anubis stuttered, his face ablaze as the masked man’s hands ran through his hair, searching for Anubis’ horns. Anubis kept wondering why he didn’t just step away from the man, until he realized that having someone’s fingers thread through his hair like that kind of felt… nice. Even though neither Karst nor the masked man could read Anubis’ thoughts, he squirmed with embarrassment when the thought crossed his mind. All this anxiety was making Anubis feel light headed.

Rediscovering my Fanfic.net
Oh my god I recently remembered about my old fanfiction account and decided to go back and reread some my old writing on there to laugh at all the cringe and die about how I used to write fanfic of real people yIKES but
Some of them??? Weren’t even that bad??? Like, I can tell i’ve improved immensely, but some of them actually had some really great lines in them and some really fun concepts and I might end up recycling one of them as a short story featuring COMPLETELY FICTIONAL characters bc again, yIKES
And then I read the comments and cried like a baby bc they were all so nice and validating and honestly were a really big pick me up. I’ve been in a writing slump since I finished KAMIKAZE, and like,,,,, those comments actually kinda helped to read. I think I’ll screenshot them and print them and hang them up around my room to read whenever I’m feeling down about my writing or am dealing with writers block. I think it’ll help, and make me cry every time I glance at them lol

Listen. Listen to me. Don’t ever stifle your creative impulses because you’re afraid your vision will come across as too pretentious.
You’re allowed to express your passion with as much melodrama as is necessary to achieve catharsis.
You’ll find it’s amazing what you can achieve when you pursue your art without internalized shame.

imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.
for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.

reasons to not quit writing:
your writing is a skill, not an inborn talent (unless, yeah, maybe it is). not everyone can do what you do and love
everyone says they want to write a book. everyone has what it takes to write a book. not everyone does it anyway. you be the small percentage of success you read about
your writing will always seem brickshit horrible because you wrote and read it a million times
you love this writing thingy. quitting it will be like cutting off your fingers one by one.
someone out there will want to read what you wrote.
someone out there wants to know what is on your mind.
someone out there appreciates your art. they will share it with their friends. they will share it with their loved ones. they will share it with their future self because maybe what you wrote saved them.
if you give up now, you know you will just come back to it again, whether it’s years from now, months, or next week. you love writing, that’s why you planted the seed of thought that you are going to write this book, and whether you come back to it or not, your unwritten stories will come back to you.

From someone who’s survived MySpace, livejournal, deviantart, and fanfiction.nets’ content purges and bad policy updates, here’s some advice on how to get through tumblr’s recent bullshit:
- don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.
- archive everything on your blog you want to keep
- tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.
- tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.
- go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.
- support places like ao3. This is exactly why ao3 asks for donations a few times a year. They are a 100% anti-purging, judgement free, ad free non profit run by an elected board and protected by lawyers. Places like ao3 literally save fandom so please continue to support them and other similar archives. This is exactly why ao3 is so important.

i rarely see more than one (1) disabled person in fiction, and at that i rarely see disabled people that don’t have on sight disabilities. ya know i just wanna see a character or two having type one diabetes, better at that, i wanna see them be in some sort of fantasy fiction.
#something to think about for Tomb of Zaliok#some of these ideas would be SO COOL to implement#like the pocket dragons#or magic devices that make things easier for people#those would be the best ones for the magic systems I have in place

Okay, this never happens. I just sat down for a solid 3 and a half hours and wrote a fic from start to end in a draft format that closely resembles mid-draft as opposed to first draft. My concentration never wavered.
I’m afraid

If you’re gonna write straight characters you need to have a reason for it, it has to be relevant to the plot :/
you cant just have straight characters for the sake of having straight characters :/
like it’s just bad to try to force straight characters into a story for no reason :/
