All I’m gonna say is, I love One Direction. Always have and always will.

I remember watching them be put together as a band on the X Factor when I was 8 years old. They were put together along with another girl group and I remember after the episode finished saying 5 boys and 4 girls. It’s my first memory of them. I remember immediately falling in love with them when they released What Makes You Beautiful and I remember getting the Up All Night CD that year for Christmas and playing it non stop in my mum’s car.

I remember seeing them live in 2013 and 2014. I got the Take Me Home tour tickets for Christmas and I actually wasn’t originally wasn’t going to the Where We Are tour but my aunt couldn’t go so I tagged along (rightfully so). I’m so grateful I got to experience seeing them live, not just once but twice! And not a lot of people can say that.

I remember going to see This Is Us in the cinema the day of its release. I was all dressed up like I was going to see them at concert. I remember trying to break the vevo record with every music video they released. I remember watching the 1D Day live stream. I remember when Zayn left. I remember watching their last performance as a band on the X Factor final in 2015.

These last few days have been so draining for me as a longtime fan of One Direction, I can’t imagine how the boys and his family are feeling. I never thought I would be 22 years old witnessing the passing of a member of my favourite band. Liam Payne was such an important part of not just my childhood but also when I was becoming a teenager, he was such a major part of my life. He was my everything along with the rest of the boys and I truly believe I wouldn’t be who I am today without One Direction.

I’ve cried a lot these last few days, I don’t know when I’ll stop. This just wasn’t supposed to happen, that’s all I keep saying. I put This Is Us on to watch for the first time in years, I thought the tears would just come flooding back, but they didn’t. It was emotional but I just felt like I was 11 years old again watching it in the cinema.

Saying goodbye to Liam still doesn’t feel real, I have these moments where I believe I’ve just made it all up in my head and it never happened but then I check my instagram feed and it’s very much real. I may not have agreed with some of Liam’s decisions or comments after One Direction but that doesn’t erase the impact he had on my life. This is the first celebrity death I’ve experienced that’s truly impacted me so much. I’ve been listening to nothing but One Direction songs ever since, it’s so bittersweet.

Rest in peace Liam Payne. You meant the whole world to me despite the fact we’ve never met. ❤️
