My boy has been with me for a while now. This is old art, but it's going here anyway.

Animation test

I've always been terrible at animating, so I decided to learn properly. Here's my first test shot I made figure out frame by frame, coloring and compositing.

First is the process. Starting with roughs to mock out the keyframes and then inbetweens. Next is lock-in where the sketch is refined and the lines become clearer, then inking and coloring, and finally compositing with a background.

Something I found crazy is that anime studios do all their animation in pixels, and then apply an antialias filter in post, which slighlty blurs the whole character in order to make it look "clean"

Animation itself happens in Clip Studio Paint, where the timeline feature allows you to animate different layers independent of each other

Compositing happens in a different program, AfterEffects. I was honestly suprised at how quickly I was able to do this. It took some time to learn various techniques, but subtracting the time it took for me to watch youtube videos, figure out the programs, and generally learn how to efficiently work in this method it didn't take all that long to make this shot.
