Last Post!! lotta stream of consciousness thoughts below the cut

Here it is, the end of my vacation throughout Aotearoa(New Zealand). I had a mostly wonderful time. Plenty of sunburn, sand, and hikes. Spent maybe too much time on the north island, I might come to regret not going south more.

The sticker shock of food prices never wore off and it was wild to watch the price of bagged salad go up like $2 in the year I was here. Bananas stayed the same price, yay imperialism..

What they say about the quality of dairy is true. I've never had better yogurt, ice cream, and milk. Cheese is cheese is cheese ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really really really loved how green everywhere is all of the time.

Still shocked that the wind and ocean were always cold.

What was the goal of this trip? To live in a place unlike where I grew up, central Texas, and see the sights. Check and check 👍🏼

The hardest hikes I went on was either the tracks around Tongariro national park or around Egmont national park.

Favorite road on the bike? The 25 around the Coromandel peninsula. It was a little odd to pay the same price for a tank of gas in Aotearoa as I did in the states, even on the highest octane I never put more than $20 in! The few times I rented a car were a different story. Those fill ups were always over $100.

I spent a lot of time on the beach, but not too much time in the water because it was always always too cold!

Aotearoa is a beautiful place with a high price tag. I hope i'll be able to return one day.

Once I’m back in the states I’m looking for a new place to live and the east coast, maaaybe Washington state, is calling my name.
