Tried Out Beminimalist Products For The First Time And Liked A Few
If I had to give an introduction…When I first saw the ad of minimalist products pop up on my phone screen in 2020, I just went, ‘hey! they just blatantly copied one of my favourite brand.’ And the brand in question is a cult favourite - The Ordinary.The Ordinary is a cult favorite and liked by celebrities and skin care enthusiasts alike for all the right reasons and it’s a shame that the brand is not readily available in India! And if you ever want to order it from their official website, you need to pay heavy customs duty, that makes a hole in your pocket.And that is how this relatively new skincare brand BeMinimalist used the goodwill and popularity of The Ordinary and gained attention. The brand provides quite the similar range of products and even the packaging has an uncanny similarity. But they also provide a promise of quality and transparency. And also the claims about their products seems impressive.I have been using The Ordinary products and then with a sudden unavailability of the same I thought of giving The Beminimalist products a try. I saw beauty influencers go hullabaloo over it and I thought giving it a try might be a good discovery and it wasn't really giving me a pocket pinch. So I picked up a few of their popular products and here are the ones I liked!-------------------------------------------------------------SALICYLIC ACIDBefore I jump into the review, let me put some light on what is salicylic acid and how it benefits the skin -Salicylic Acid is mainly a chemical exfoliator known as BHA, an age old remedy that works by dissolving dead skin cells and sebum from the inner walls of the pores, revealing fresh skin underneath.2% of the concentrate is just the right amount for starters and in my opinion for long term use. Because these active ingredients act well on skin, there's always a chance that you might overdo it and that might cause some damage. So its always a good idea to keep the active ingredients mild.Salicylic Acid 2% Claims : - Our salicylic acid easily penetrates the pore lining and scoops out the dirt, debris, and sebum (clinically proven to work better than oil-based traditional salicylic acid), so skin looks clear and baby-soft- Lightweight, fast-absorbing formula made with aloe vera juice instead of water present in other serums to soothe the irritation generally associated with exfoliation- Formulated with RonaCare Salicylic Acid Extra Pure from Merck, Germany, a global natural chemistry companyThe highlight of the product is - It is Fragrance free, Paraben free, Oil free and has a pH level from 3.5-4.0.Price - INR 545/- for 30ml. Availability : (click on your preferred site)- AmazonMy Views : I started using it when I found a few painful cystic acne on the face and it worked pretty well in drying it up without leaving a scar. I had used the serum for a month on a clean face and neck after toner and waited for 5 minutes before applying moisturizer and sunblock.I do not have blackheads but the product would work really well on blackheads too as it works really well as a mild exfoliator. But its important that we don't overdo acids. I stopped using it after my pimples subsided and have restricted to using it twice a week. I have sensitive skin and so I restricted the amount to three drops only and trust me it suffices for face and neck both. I would rate it a - 3.5/5------------------------------------------NIACINAMIDENiacinamide suddenly gained hype and for all the right reasons. It is a form of Vitamin B-3, an essential nutrient. The deficiency of niacinamide could lead to disorder of skin, kidney and brain. Because we are talking about using niacinamide tropically for skin concerns here...niacinamide helps build keratin, which is a type of protein that helps to keep skin firm and healthy. It creates a lipid barrier which helps to retain moisture in the skin and also reduces inflammation. So I wouldn't really write this product off.Now that it seems to be getting difficult getting hands on The Ordinary products, I might give it a try again... But previously I did not notice any visible change on my skin. So I did try and I was not really disappointed. It would be harsh to compare the results I got with using Klairs but still good for an Indian skincare brand.Did I see the brightness and the glow I expect from a Vit C serum?! Yes and No! It takes it's own sweet time and is not harsh on skin, the results are good but not as I would expect from A Vitamin C serum( but that's just me being too tough on it).It is a good option for first timers who are looking for pocket friendly yet effective serum!I would rate it a - 3.5/5-------------------------------------On the other news...The Ordinary has made it's entry in India through Nykaa! Happiness of creating something beautiful with your own hands 💖 I hated being stuck at the guest room with nothing much to do. And it was that time when everyone was suddenly very active on social media showcasing their baking skills, cooking skills, dancing skills and what not! While it was amazing to watch everyone do what they loved, I could only grumble about my condition 🙄 I had taken a break from my online work because I was busy packing the whole house and travelling to the new station and setting up again, it always becomes difficult during these times and then came Corona and I was left with no job, I had no house, no kitchen, and almost all my stuffs were packed and kept in the store. And I couldn't even go to get my stuffs for reason one being I had no space to keep them and second the covid faculty was right next to the store. But I had to keep myself busy! That's how I have always been... I cannot sit idle, it makes me go mad and I become to most moody cranky person if I am idle for too long! And this Netflix and chill can be done once a week... That's when I started gardening by collecting plants and cuttings from around here and making macrame from leftover packing ropes. Trust me when I say I knew absolutely nothing about gardening just five months back and nothing about macrame three months back ! I put a lot of hardwork, reading and passion into every thing I do and I love how it pays off ❤️ So today I shipped my first macrame order 🙈 Okay it was a friend who insisted on buying it. In one of those days I was sitting and scrolling through these beautiful and somewhat impossible to make ideas and DIYs on Pinterest when bhaiya(husband's buddy) peeped in and suddenly said, "cycle ka tyre leke aaun?" "Huh?", I looked up at him wondering why he asked that. "Arre woh upar chala gaya woh photo" I scrolled down to find a dream cather made out of cycle tyre and I quite liked the idea but wasn't sure if I wanted to do it. "Banake kaha lagaun isko?!" "Waise hi deewar pe tang dena jaisa photo pe hai... acha lagega" "Aur cycle ka tyre kaha se laoge?" With quite a mischievous smile and no answer he vanished for half an hour to bring this old but good cycle tyre from somewhere.. "Yeh loh... banao!" These people surprise me at times... "Chori karke toh nai laye" 😛 And still I got no answer but that smile again... One week to getting posted out from Chandigarh (that’s what I thought) and it was the week of never-ending parties, after-parties, social gatherings, and formal events. And before you judge me with ‘yeh army wale party bohot karte hain yaar’ let me tell you, “haan yaar… karte hain and we good at it!” On a serious note, that’s how these faujis say goodbye you know, making the most of every minute they get to spend together. They might be working their asses off till 9 pm in the night but you will find them all excited and ready to pull an all-nighter. Reason - you never know we might not meet with the same bunch for a long long time or maybe never. Anyways, so in all these get-togethers, there was this one topic that everyone seemed excited about – the unit would be moving to the next destination in a train, in an army special train! Have you ever heard about the army special train?! Lemme give you an idea: This train is green in colour and not brown or other colours you usually see. And the coaches have “Indian Army” or “Millitary” written on them… cool right?! B) Usually, this special train is used to move one whole unit with all its ‘taam-jhaam’. From men, their luggage, furniture, the whole kitchen with all its utensils and good enough ration (to feed the whole troop during the journey) to pets and flower pots, everything travels together in this(what sounds like a super fun) train. Just 'not' another crazy plant lady in your neighborhood 🌱💁 The other day my friend had dropped me a msg asking for something at midnight and I replied to her at 5:30 in the morning 🙈 And she was like "dudeee I haven't even slept yet and you are up already?!" 😝 Well well what do I say ... I get up really early on days I have to tend to my green pets.🙈 I read somewhere the best time to tend to your plants is early in the morning and I have been following since ... and looking at how ''khila khila aur hara bhara'' all my plants are, I don't regret my decision. So that's me sitting there looking like a complete mess, tending to my green pets super early in the morning!! One of those days when I wake up missing mountains more than other days ... That was one lonely walk through those snow covered roads that day. The sudden gush of icy cold winds hitting my face made me pull up my scarf to cover my nose. I was walking slower than usual, I was still a little dizzy from the ride. I looked around to find not a single soul around and I wasn't really sure I was walking the right way... After walking on the most beautiful road for about two kms I saw these little houses with thatched roof. That looked like my homestay but why is the gate covered with snow... It looked like no one stayed here. A little worried I checked my phone's dying battery. I could make a quick call I guess.. "Yeh gate snow se chup gaya hai.. main kaha se aun? "Nai toh.. gate toh khula hai" "Par... " and the phone went off. I tried to keep calm and look for someone passing by, shouted the name of the homestay owner a few times.. no luck. I put down my rucksack and started looking for my phone's extra battery but as usual it has slipped away into some corner when I need it. Just then I hear him shouting, "pura journey phone mei game khel raha tha kya?" as he walked towards me.
