◠࡛۬🏩⋆.How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days ! 🍋‍🟩 ₊˚☆ 💿ୢ꣒
𝓐: Have you ever been personally victimized by a guy before? he’s made you feel crazy? stressing you out? well today ill be giving advice on how to get rid of him with ease and my credentials? being absolutely STUPID about this boy for possibly 2 and a half years…(not my proudest moments) 💢
Dial “D” for DETACHMENT ๋࣭⭑
The d word is gonna be a key source is forgetting about this guy it may start slow but gradually reply to him slower, don’t engage with him lots when you see him at school, work etc. and if you’re angry enough and over him you’ll be able to do this with ease - distance is key
Remove his presence from your life ๋࣭⭑
not his PHYSICAL presence but his spiritual presence so his clothes, memories, any relic that reminds you of him or that keeps you attached to the IDEA of him must go any and all of it BUT if you choose to keep something like shirt at least wash his scent and skin flakes out of it P.S - keeping a negative energy in your sanctuary is not the way to go
FLITER HIM OUT ๋࣭⭑
you HAVE to completely filter out his presence in your personal possessions and my that i mean your devices delete pictures, delete his number, delete chat and call logs, block him on all socials , stop stalking and engaging with his social media , stop obsessing over him i promise you are more valuable than a crumb of attention or satisfaction a guy could give you ESPECIALLY if he’s playing mind games
AFTERMATH ๋࣭⭑
Now even thought you may miss someone doesn’t mean that you HAVE to go back to them or that they’re some special being NO. you can miss the memories you have with someone and the love they gave you but that doesn’t mean that they are the beat for your mental and physical health you are ALLOWED to mourn the loss of a relationship that once seemed perfect
and beware these steps wont completely wipe your memory of this person but it will help you to stop obsessing and realize that you are worth more and deserve better NEVER let a guy drain your energy or back you feel ugly or bad about yourself you’re way to valuable for that !!!
𝓐: Thanks for tuning in pretties remember never let someone break you do or steal your spirit and your energy you’re worth more and you deserve better!! 🫶🏼

Random Beauty Big Sister Advice 💐💋🪩
Tumblr media
Here are my random big sister beauty advice! Enjoy!!!
Fix your posture
Some of you did not get pinched in the shoulder blades when you were slouching growing up and it shows
Every time you sit or stand up take the time to roll your shoulders back. Just do it as a little reminder everyday (multiple times) and your posture will improve.
If you can’t hold it without it becoming uncomfortable or tiring you need to do some core workout (a lot of inner core specifically) because that means you muscles aren’t strong enough to keep your spine strong. Which also means you can be more susceptible to injuries.
As much as you hate it healthy is 100x prettier than unhealthy.
Almost all the beauty standards are based on your health.
Proper diet and exercise will make your skin glow and your hair shiny.
Under eating or eating junk shows on your face and hair.
Muscles are sexy
I swear to you there is no way for you to become “bulky” by picking up weights.
You need to strengthen train for that toned look.
In order for your muscles to get really bulky you have to be in a pretty heavy calorie surplus be hitting a very high protein level. You also have to have the gene to build bulky muscles and the bone structure which is not as common in women. You can’t really do it on accident.
Even women who can put on muscles really fast are not bulky they are built. It’s giving she hulk and it’s hot.
To look put together you have to do the 2/3rds rule.
Only one part of your outfit can you neglect. Either your hair, makeup, or outfit. But it should never be your hair.
Learn to do really quick easy hairstyles and you will never have bad hair. I am almost always in Dutch braids because they are simple and I can do them quickly.
Also adding jewelry always gives your outfit more flare.
Learn how to alter clothes always have cute clothes.
You can find really simple tutorials to turn that body tank top into a fitted tank so easily.
Usually you just need a needle thread and scissors but if you have a machine you can do so much.
Do your nails
If you don’t like color or fake nails make sure they are always filled and clean.
Nails can be extremely cheap or extremely expensive you just gotta find what works for you.
Get a good nail oil as well for extra care.
Your body is not the problem you just don’t know how to dress and compliment her.
Stop looking at girls whose body is nothing like yours for outfit inspo.
Depending on your proportions things can look vastly different on different people.
Figure out your body type and shopping gets so much easier.
That’s all for now I might continue this series slowly but I just ended my spring break and classes have started so if I disappear don’t worry I’m just being an academic weapon.
Xoxo💋

8 lil things you can try to feel better & productive!
Drink at least 2 bottles (or more) of water each day. Staying hydrated can boost energy levels, aid body in breaking down waste & help clear your skin by flushing out toxins!
Make your bed first thing in the morning - because a clean space can lead to a clean mind!
Do a quick 3-to-10-minute cardio workout 4-5x a week. Doing so can boost your mood and confidence while helping you build consistency. This habit can pave the way for exercising more often and for longer periods, contributing to your overall glow-up journey!
Meditate for 5 minutes or more. Doing so grounds you in the present moment and helps you tune into thoughts or physical feelings you might be ignoring. It's a simple way to relax and melt away stress.
Affirm regularly! Affirmations can rewire your subconscious beliefs and dissolve mental blockages. Remember, lasting external change starts with internal transformation—if you don’t trust or love yourself, you might unknowingly block the abundance you’re manifesting.
Spend more time creating, not consuming! Logging out and diving into art, music, writing, or any form of creativity feeds your soul in ways scrolling never will. It’s a chance to recharge your mind, discover new passions, and find fulfillment in making something truly your own.
Go outside, boo! Yeah, sprawling on your bed sounds super tempting (I get it), but we need sunlight! Take a small walk around your neighborhood, visit a park, or simply sit on your porch or backyard. The sun's rays are packed with vitamin D, which supports strong bones, boosts your immune system, and even improves your mood. And spending time outdoors can help clear your mind, reduce stress, and reconnect you with nature.
Prioritize rest and sleep. Glow-ups don’t happen overnight—literally! While hustle culture pushes the idea of “never stop” to become the ultimate “it girl,” true productivity starts with balance. Rest isn’t laziness—it’s an essential recharge. How can we show up as our best, higher selves if we’re running on empty? We’re not machines. Rest—both physically and mentally—is the foundation for sustainable growth, glowing skin, and thriving in every way.
While this post was originally written for me, I hope these tips inspire or help someone else on their journey too. Remember, the most productive thing you can ever do is prioritize yourself. Care for your body, nurture your mind, and show yourself the same kindness you so freely give to others—you deserve it. Appreciate who you are right now. Self-improvement shouldn’t come from a place of self-hate—you’re not something that needs fixing or a puzzle piece that has to fit in with the crowd. Work on yourself for yourself, because you love who you are, and want to see yourself thrive. 👑💐🩷

Non-Aesthetic Fitness and Health Goals 🏃🏼‍♀️🥥🧘🏼‍♀️
Tumblr media
Here are some health and wellness goals that don’t revolve around weight or appearances. Working out should always be for your health and well-being rather than looks. You have one body and you have to be able to make it last. Your body is the house where your soul lives.
To be able to fully touch your toes.
To run a mile nonstop (doesn’t matter the pace just to not stop)
Do a handstand
To be able to do the splits
10 regular push-up
10 pull ups unassisted
To be able to swim a mile nonstop (same as the running)
To have good posture and core strength
Walk/jog a 5k
To be able to lift half your body weight (great goal to build up to and very practical for real life)
To get off the ground without using your hands (amazing for as you age being able to get up easier)
Be able to balance on one foot for a minute at a time.
To be able to sit in an Asian squat (great for mobility in all your leg joints)
To reduce joint pain. (Depending on the specific joint pain it can be caused by lack of strength in the muscles around the leg and you can look up specific workouts for your problem)
To improve in your chosen sport
That’s all I have for now. I wanted these goals to be attainable (some are easier than others) and not based on how you look because not only is it discouraging but it’s also not as fun to only think about looks. These goals are also great for longevity of your body and also safety. Being strong and fit is a privilege. Let me know if you guys have any questions!
Xoxo 💋

De-influencing you: How to save money at concerts, sports games, and live events, a comprehensive guide (from an Angeleno's perspective)
Things to consider before purchasing tickets:
Buy your tickets early; resale prices are not cheap, especially if the tickets are sold on Ticketmaster. Ticket prices can soar from $30 to $80, if not more.
Local concerts are usually cheaper. These are your dive bar concerts, backyard shows, and free community events. If you are in the punk, indie, or emo scene, you know what I'm talking about.
Prioritize artists that you REALLY want to see or enjoy.
If you are going to a Ticketmaster venue, you will most likely have to go through a TSA-style search by CSC or Allied Event Security, so bring a clear backpack that is no bigger than 12x6x12 and look through the venue's prohibited items list.
If you can, check Stubhub or TickPick for discounted tickets.
Know the fanbase of the artist that you want to see, especially if they are currently viral on social media; you are going to have to deal with some unsavory/annoying members during the show. Speaking from my recent experience at the Deftones concert.
What to know regarding venues:
Be prepared to pay for water. Many venues will not offer free tap or bottled water. Some may have drinking fountains, but check Yelp or Google reviews first.
Most smaller venues are standing-room-only. Please feel free to bring comfortable shoes if you can. This also applies if you purchase pit tickets at a larger venue like The Novo or Kia Forum.
Most venue food is shitty and overpriced, I would eat beforehand or opt for something local instead. If you have ever attended a sporting event or visited an amusement park, you KNOW how expensive the food is.
Cheaper stadium seats are low-key shit. Speaking from experience as someone who went to see Deftones at Kia Forum and paid for shitty seats in the back.
If you are going to a dive bar or an otherwise grassroots punk/rock/emo concert, prepare to use dirty porta-potties with piss on the seat and shitty bathrooms with holes in the walls and ceilings, dim lighting, and/or stickers plastered all over the stall doors. I have had some of the best and most memorable experiences at shows with bathrooms like these.
Important transportation information:
If you are going to a stadium or a large-scale concert, prepare for traffic jams. This is especially true if you are attending a sports game and public transportation is otherwise inaccessible. If you are going to an event in an area like Figueroa Corridor/Expo Park or Hollywood Park (Inglewood), where events are being held at multiple surrounding venues, prepare for traffic jams to last as long as an hour and a half.
Know your public transportation options for park and ride, train connections, shuttles, and other bus connections.
If you are coming from a stadium game, forget about rideshare; they are not showing up near the venue, especially if traffic is backed up. You are going to have to walk BLOCKS just to be picked up, so make sure you bring comfortable shoes with you, even if they are a spare pair.
Ignore the guys with the black SUVs holding flashing phones in their hands. They are going to charge you as much as 5 times the amount of a normal UberX.
For night events, be aware of what times night service on public transportation ends.
Have a designated driver; this is common sense. We don't need more drunk drivers on the road.
What you should and should not buy to save your money:
YES: Band merchandise of smaller/more local bands or bands whose merchandise you can't really find on Depop or on their website.
NO: Bands who sell their merch inside Hot Topic/Spencer's or have tons of secondhand merch available on Depop, unless the experience is sentimental to you and you want it as a memorable keepsake.
YES: Affordable food at nearby eateries. However, this depends on your budget.
YES: Beer at a bar, depending on your budget. Your money is going directly towards supporting the bar.
NO: Venue food, as it is usually overpriced and bland.
NO: Stadium beer, as it costs as much as 5 times more than a can you can individually purchase at the grocery store.
MAYBE: People selling T-shirts before and after the concert. I have never purchased them, but there is no harm in doing so.
MAYBE: Hot dogs from carts outside of the venue after the end of the event. They cost between $8 and $ 10.
NO: Bottled water, as some venues will allow you to bring in a clear plastic reusable water bottle inside with you to refill at stations (no metal/aluminum allowed, i.e. Hydroflasks, Owala, Yeti, Stanley); others have drinking fountains available. However, if you have little to no alternatives, you may have to suck it up and fork over $6 for a can of Liquid Death or Smart Water.
YES: Earplugs, preferably the reusable high-fidelity ones! Especially recommended for loud rock/punk/metalcore concerts. The cheap foam ones are good in a pinch, but they suck.
YES: Secondhand or discounted sports fan merchandise. You'd be surprised where you can find Rams and Chargers apparel at a discount.
NO: Sports merch at the venue, unless it's something you are really passionate about and have the disposable income for.

How I cope with having only $20 in my checking account and how I spent the past week like this + things I learned from cutting back
Going through my subscriptions and cutting back on unnecessary purchases. Replacing bullshit subscriptions with ones that are actually beneficial.
Taking more surveys because I need the extra cash. This includes the long, 30-minute+ surveys. Thanks, r/beermoney
I sit out of concert outings because I cannot afford tickets or the Uber back home. I get paid biweekly on Mondays, thanks to Capital One Direct Deposit.
Going to the gym as a replacement for spending, despite it being crowded all the time (and eventually developing a workout schedule around crowds)
Looking into job leads (even though I have lost all hope in finding a new job or additional sources of income)
Spending less time out so that the 2-hour transfer window doesn't run out, and I won't have to pay another $3.50 to take the bus back home. Or, opting for the DASH instead. This also means that I will have to plan all of my essential outings around the DASH route to save $1.40 since it's only 35 cents to TAP.
Surviving on Wingstop for my daily meals despite it being unhealthy (if it gets bad enough, I may have to break the boycotts and go back to consuming the McDonald's value menu)
I realized that I blew my money on the Fortnite BattlePass yet again.
I am going to the library more as a source of entertainment. I am no longer paying for streaming because I haven't been consuming it. I will buy it and not use it for the entire year.
I am going to have to sit out the Minecraft Movie trend because I currently cannot afford it.
More to come soon!

My Financial Healing Journey: Target and the DEI boycotts and how I am learning to let go of my dependence on the store.
Thanks to the boycotts, I have not set foot inside a Target store in weeks. The amount of money that I have wasted just by mindlessly purchasing unnecessary products here is shameful.
The funny thing is that before college, I never really had a compulsive urge to go to Target for everything. Target was the store that we would go to when it was time to buy cheap school supplies the weeks before school started.
The habit first started when I was in university. We were college students paying thousands in rent for our mediocre apartments and dorms. All we had was the Target at the town center (and Trader Joe's and Albertsons for groceries), and we went there for virtually everything, from clothes to shoes to stationery to furniture to personal hygiene products. This was basically our one-stop shop, and it closed pretty early (around 9 p.m. because it's Irvine, a.k.a. a suburbia college town). During move-in weekend, if you didn't buy your furniture beforehand, you made the long walk from your dorm or apartment all the way to the University Town Center Target. The folks living in Vista Del Campo and the back of Camino Del Sol and Vista Del Campo Norte had to walk the furthest, up and down Arroyo Drive and back in 90-degree summer heat.
I have memories of when I went here to purchase decor for my summer apartment in Plaza Verde. I remember pushing my shopping basket that my dad bought me from the local Northgate Market down Campus Drive in the 85-degree Sunday summer afternoon heat, filled with items that I needed to purchase for my apartment. New pillows, a trash can, cleaning products, a shower curtain, a bedding set, and rugs (because I didn't want my bare feet touching the cold laminate floor every time I got out of bed).
It eventually became a hangout spot. When you and your friends had no ride and no money, you took the Anteater Express from your apartment complex all the way to the town center to hang around the same shops that you have seen in the past few years. The town center is the hangout spot for boba meets, club socials and mixers, and impromptu meetups, and there is a high chance that your friends would stop by at the Target if they wanted to grab a quick snack or go on an impromptu Target run. The number of times I would walk out of the house in my pajamas and hop on the shuttle at 8 pm on winter nights just to grab some last-minute items before the store closed was far too much to count. It got to a point where I would walk around the Target store when I was depressed, bored, or feeling any kind of negative emotion- this eventually led to my constant dependence on it. I would average roughly 2-3 shopping trips to the store a week. I still have a plethora of purchases that I have made from the store and failed to return either because I missed the window or because I decided that I would use them up eventually...
Fast forward to coming back to LA post-grad, and I have recently relapsed. I would walk around the store for fun, and the majority of the time, I would walk out with an impulse purchase. However, thanks to the DEI boycotts (and my mountainous debt), I have learned things about my past purchases there:
Target's fashion is still fast. Their clothes are decent, and they are not SHEIN-level quality, but like with all other clothing stores, mindful spending and consumption is best. I like their basics and their jeans the most.
Most of their hair products for textured hair suck. The fact that they are pulling more POC and Black-owned products from store shelves means forcing us to choose from a select few products with highly toxic or damaging ingredients for our hair.
Target is best used for buying essentials (food, personal care, etc.) and picking them up at the counter or using the drive-up.
Their skin care is hit or miss. The same is true with their personal care. I will make a separate post on my skincare and hair care journeys, discussing this in-depth.
They got rid of their 1% cash back. That alone is enough to make me not want to go there anymore.
The fact that their presence takes over and dominates smaller stores means that consumers are forced to depend on said stores, especially if they are disabled or otherwise lack access to decent transportation. In suburbs, exurbs, and politically red-dominated neighborhoods, this is especially apparent. Not everyone has the privilege to boycott.
I had a problem with buying books here. Wait until they come out at the library. In LA, you have tons of options. Book communities on social media tend to promote overconsumption, especially of shitty books. Don't waste your money here buying stuff at full price.
I came here to buy more school supplies for the aesthetic, despite already having a shit ton in my room. Now, I am left with tons of notebooks that haven't even had all of their pages filled in yet, along with pens, pencils, erasers, and pencil cases.
Most of the brands sold here are pro-genocide if you choose to take this into account. Target itself is pro-genocide. Most affordable personal care products are manufactured by pro-genocide brands. e.l.f., despite being pro-DEI, is also pro-genocide. I know that LA Girl and Wet n wild are safe, but this is subject to change.

Being alternative and how my style has changed over time due to social media
As much as I have been trying to go on a no-buy, support local businesses, and shop more sustainably, I always fall victim to the new Hot Topic merch releases, the "safe" chain restaurants, and occasional Amazon purchase that I don't need, but tell myself that I do.
The thing about being alternative is that individuality is constantly preached about on social media, yet everyone looks the same. Everyone is trying to be an influencer or sell you something, from their OnlyFans to packs of lashes to new platform boots to a "cute goth handbag" that is clearly drop shipped, but they will never tell you.
There is a lot of talk about boycotting, but the reality is that I see more of my generation talking about it online than acting on it in real life. Then again, I live in the hood full of poor Black and Latino families where all the 20 somethings are working part-time jobs during the week and spending time with their families and romantic lovers when not at work. We don't live with the hipsters in Echo Park. We don't have trendy thrift stores and cafes. What we have nearby are liquidation shops that resell unwanted Amazon merchandise, pop-up flea markets, Santee Alley in downtown, and the occasional Goodwill that doesn't even have a changing room in it.
The alts here are not like the alts in Highland Park. In Highland Park, you have the artsy queer plant moms who wear platform docs and maxi skirts and listen to indie rock and queer punk music. Down here, everyone is lowkey. You stop seeing as many alt people after you finish high school because we all work and have to change our style to accommodate our work dress code. If you find an alternative person in public that is over 19 years old, most likely they are either wearing either horror themed merchandise or are dressed in a very casual goth or skater look. We all listen to emo rap and metal down here.
The place you go to purchase clothes depends on your taste in fashion. All the baddies go to Q, Ross, Santee Alley, and Citadel Outlets. For shoes, we go to WSS or FootLocker. My area is full of Facebook mom's, so it's a thing for them to do swaps, garage sales, and buy nothing groups. If you were alt in the hood, you were most likely either punk or a neurodivergent chronically online queer kid. The punk girls get their clothes from flea markets, are experts in DIY, and thrift like it's nobody's business. Back when I was in school, punks were rare compared to now; we mainly had the metalheads and the “smol bean” emos. As emos, we shopped at Hot Topic. If we couldn't afford that, we had to make do with whatever we had around us, even if it meant working with what was being sold at Ross and Wal-Mart.
When I was in high school, I only went to Hot Topic, maybe once or twice a year, when they had their semi-annual clearance sales. I had saved up all of my hot cash, but I always went for the bargain bins of $6 tees they would have in front of the store. I never checked the website beforehand, so every trip was a treasure hunt. I rotated between the same 5 shirts that I had in my inventory, two of which were too big for me (but I was bullied for being fat and ended up hiding my body as a result). I used to wear shitty skinny jeans from Ross that were never skinny in the legs like I wanted them to be, so I always cuffed them to show off my pink skull socks that I wore rolled up over my worn out and fucked up black Converse high-tops and Vans Authentics that always rubbed my right pinky toe to where I now have developed a callus on it. I also wore Black Heart jeans, but eventually outgrew them, so I had to give them away. I would wear the same black hoodie to school until it got faded and torn in from years of wear. It was either that hoodie or my school merch (that I also ended up outgrowing and giving away).
My real sense of personality was in the accessories. I never put much thought into buying the "emo backpacks", a.k.a. the galaxy print Jansport bag. I recall my favorite high school bag being a black Jansport with pink flower print all over it. I didn't have many pins on it at the time, and was wary about placing them due to theft. I wore the same rubber bracelets and fishnet gloves gloves until I couldn't anymore, with the tattoo choker.
Fast forward to 2020, and all hell breaks lose with my finances. The hot topic purchases become out of control, packages upon packages are being delivered to my house. Now, after wasting hundreds of dollars on fast fashion and contributing to the overall climate crisis for years, on top of all of the cores and aesthetics I am seeing on TikTok and pinterest, I am learning more about my sense of style.
Despite my music taste, I am drawn to the modern Pinterest grunge look. I am slowly but surely reverting to my buying habits that I had when I was in high school, after burning through all of my money in undergrad and having my poor financial habits finally catch up to me. I am keeping in mind which items I have in my closet I reach out for more often, and which just sit in my room, unworn. I have items that I keep in my room as relics and statement pieces, but never wear them. A lot of jewelry that I impulsively bought at Hot Topic I don't even use. The necklace clasps shift forward with the slightest movement. The coating on my necklaces makes the skin on my neck darken (because of my dark skin, it doesn't turn green as people say it does). The cute hair clips have applications that fall off after several uses. I wear my generic crop tops from Ross way more often than the ones I purchased from Hot Topic.
Out of all of my mini backpacks that I have hoarded and collected in my closet, I only wear a select few. I have bags that are peeling and tearing at the back, and the leather has gone soft from years of use, but I always reach for them because they're of my favorite fandom. The same goes for shoes. There are so many shoes that I want to buy because they're trendy, but I will make a separate post about this later.

My problem with men and dating... I will never be good for the man I want. A rant
I am not attracted to most men. I roll my eyes at fictional men because most of them are not the type that interests me. Many men in romance books and reality shows centered on dating are not my type. I have never been into the Chad or "hunk" type.
My taste in men has come from shows and movies like Word Girl, Metal Lords, Criminal Minds, Riverdale, and Teen Wolf. My fictional crushes and male comfort characters were always shy, sensitive, white, nerdy, or intellectual male types. I have loved the female MC x nerdy male tutor books on Wattpad, such as Intellectual Romance. I love nerdy men, preferably brunette with medium-length to long wavy hair, who listen to metal or have decent music taste, have a baby face, and are on the introverted side (basically, the ones who look like salamipapa). The problem is, most of these men don't like me back because they prefer to keep to themselves, and they find me annoying.
The men I like who check off all of my qualities are "off the market" or are happily engaged to their wives. They share similar hobbies, are emotionally healthy, empathetic, and loyal, and have many other positive, husband-worthy traits. Bonus points if they are attractive!
I have never liked the basic sporty or finance-bro types, or even the STEM-bro Silicon Valley types. This is why I don't like most dating apps; they are full of men who look like they would've bullied me in high school.
On apps like Boo, there is more eye candy for me on there, but the men I like never match with me back because they are not physically attracted to me (and prefer skinnier white conventionally attractive alternative, goth, or cosplayer women)
Most of the men who message me are fat, unattractive neckbeards with this toxic sense of entitlement and an incapability to hold a decent conversation with me. Either that or foreign men. Most of the conversations are very dry, and you can tell the men swipe on every woman they see. The interactions have no substance, and I find them to be very draining.
I have been asked out as a joke a lot in grade school. I consider myself to be somewhat of a late bloomer, but I am still not confident enough to have a full glow-up. I've never been into revealing or "baddie" clothing. I prefer simpler looks, long maxi skirts, long sleeve tops, baggy jeans, band tees, Loungefly backpacks, and wrists clad with kandi bracelets. I'm 23, and I feel like I am regressing to heal my inner teen. Unfortunately, I am too fat to be seen as "cool" to people who like that type of fashion, so my style is just seen as childish.
In-person, older men are more likely to approach you as a young woman. It has been like this since I was a teen, and many women report experiencing the same thing. Men our age never really want us, unless we look like copy and paste social media baddies. Unfortunately, I am on the plainer side. I have a baby-ish face, I am midsized, I dress casually/grunge, and I wear makeup about once or twice a month.
I will commonly have experiences where men will confess to me after barely knowing me just because I am nice to them. I often have this problem with mentally ill men. I am someone who is not mentally well either, and I know how it feels to feel like you lack an adequate support system. It mainly happens to me through online platforms.
I have fallen for the wrong men just because they were genuinely kind, and it felt like they genuinely understood and connected with me on a deeper level. My standards are the bare minimum, but to a lot of men, they are too high. I catch feelings for guys every couple of years, but my limerence and obsession with a single man can last just as long. These men almost always turn out to be emotionally abusive, manipulative, and toxic. Therapy is not enough to cope with the pain that these men put me through. Eventually, my dislike and distrust for men only grew more and more intense. A deep conversation about mutual interests is enough to have me catching feelings for days. That's how cooked I am.
I have consumed tons of online relationship content like it was a guide book to keeping yourself safe when dating. Because I find most men to be shallow or otherwise not people that I would want to converse with, I avoid them, but there are always those guys that I run into (the introverted, lonely nerdy types). When things go wrong with these men, these online dating guides can only help so much because the trauma is always new and different from the last. The way they hurt you is not predictable; you can only rely on your intuition. The last time this happened to me, the guy came around every time I tried to distance myself. Whenever I took the bait, he would pull away. TikToks of conventional red flags cannot help you with these types, especially if they are mentally unwell.

How I will be moving forward after the February 28 Boycotts
Here are the places I will be re-directing my money towards to support local and smaller businesses.
Stop supporting (or minimize support for) McDonald's, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon, Meta, and other large corporate chains. If buying from big giants, make mindful purchases to reduce your consumption.
Books: Pango books, The Last Bookstore, Thrift Books, Abe Books, and if through Amazon, buying used instead of new. Also, the library, for obvious reasons. I have made the mistake of wasting money on shitty new books before, I strongly do not recommend.
Food: Local food stands, taco trucks, smaller restaurants, and regional chains instead of national ones. Choosing In N' Out over McDonald's, Cane's over KFC, etc., or making copycats at home. The same goes for coffee and other drinks. Many smaller donut shops in the area are better priced and tastier than Winchell's. There are so many places selling authentic Mexican food that you have no excuse to buy some nasty bullshit at Taco Bell or Del Taco. However, I strongly recommend Yelp, some of the smaller restaurants suck in terms of food quality that you get for the price.
Clothing and Shoes: Old Navy is pro-DEI. Depop, since I buy and sell on there (despite prices being pretty steep at times). Smaller thrift stores that ACTUALLY have changing rooms in them (goodbye, Goodwill SoCal!) Go to Ross and Nordstrom Rack, and avoid Marshalls and TJ Maxx, apparently. DD's is shitty but I can work with it if I'm in a financial pinch. Facebook groups, but I haven't found any good ones yet. For shoes, Journey's, Zappos, WSS, DSW, and brand websites will work (and Depop if I am confident the shoe will fit).
Beauty: ULTA is pro-DEI. I can also order directly from brands' sites.
Haircare: I have too much, but if I need more, Sally Beauty is my go-to. Not sure about the local hair store, though, since I hear stories about store owners profiling their Black customers.
Personal care: I believe I have found what I need at Food4Less.
Groceries: Food4Less or Trader Joe's, Northgate Gonzalez Markets if I am too lazy to travel far or need something cheaper there than at the other stores.
Hardware and Tools: Maybe Harbor Freight, but I am so used to using Home Depot for everything since it is trusted and so accessible. This is going to be a hard one for me.
Gaming: Shopping sales and sticking to battle passes and Bing/Microsoft Rewards to minimize spending on unnecessary purchases on skins (it is a challenge due to FOMO and limited-time collabs, especially on Overwatch). If I am buying consoles and console gams, I will buy from trusted resellers (too many scams on Mercari and other user-based platforms)
Tech: Buy new due to being burned in the past from buying refurbished tech, but cut back on consumption. Use BackMarket for used iPhones and Pixels, or buy new or certified refurbished from Samsung for Galaxy phones.
Stationery and Office Supplies: I have so much shit hoarded from years of schooling and coursework. However, go to an office store or a dollar store (Dollar Tree/General or Family Dollar) if you don't want to support Target or Walmart. If you went to a hood school like I did, they will sometimes give away free school supplies. I'm gonna make a separate post on school supplies you DO and DO NOT need.

To help decrease my consumption, here are stores I am boycotting and alternatives to purchase from (that are affordable).
Aerie: their new lines are not size-inclusive. Every time I go to their stores to shop, I feel like I am negatively judged by the employees. If I go here to shop, it is for their full-coverage bras or high-rise cotton boy brief undies. Their newer bras have shorter bands and fit smaller with lower-quality materials.
Target: because they removed DEI initiatives (and it is easy to walk into the store and make unnecessary purchases).
Walmart: the causes they support. Not a problem because they're not accessible to me anyway. They also don't support Apple or Google Pay.
Amazon: after my Prime runs out. It is so easy to get sucked into buying things you don't need because of the fast free shipping. You also have to pay extra to remove ads on Prime Video. Jeff Bezos is also pro-Trump.
McDonald's: despite their low pricing, they support unsavory political causes. Alternatives: In N Out, smaller burger restaurants
KFC: also supports political causes I disagree with.
Starbucks: political reasons and their drinks are shit.
Places that aren't boycott-worthy but just suck overall
Burger King: shitty burgers
Carl's Jr: shitty burgers
Taco Bell: shitty food
Dell Taco: shitty food
Chipotle: shitty food and portion sizes, overpriced for the quality that you get (I will make another post from a former employee's perspective)
Jack In The Box: shitty food and overall unsafe, the 7-Eleven of burger restaurants
Most large corporate chain restaurants in general, because their food sucks
Church's Texas Chicken: the food is fine, they're just closing multiple locations in my area because they're always located in the shittiest most ratchet places and are always getting robbed
The smaller, more local restaurants that have increased their prices due to popularity but their food tastes like shit now
Tourist/aesthetic food. The food sold at tourism venues (theme parks and stadiums, generally overpriced and trash), food sold at hipster restaurants (bland and overpriced), and the food that looks good in social media photos but tastes like shit once you actually eat it.
7-Eleven: unsafe, always getting robbed, and I see no need to buy from there unless out of convenience (hence the term, "convenience store")
Who do I plan to direct my money towards?
Local donut shops in my area. They mainly sell coffee, donuts, ice cream, smoothies, sandwiches, and cold drinks. A better alternative than going to specialized restaurants (Baskin Robbins, Winchell's, Starbucks, etc.)
Ross, Burlington, DD's, and other clearance stores, although I haven't been too fond of their selection lately, they're decent places to shop.
Depop, until I find a better platform to buy and sell. Some of the sellers will list and never ship, though.
Used bookstores, so I don't waste my money buying books new and ending up disliking them.

It's a shame that some of the main cast is racist. I loved this show, but I may not be finishing it.
