Pride month's over, but we'll probably still continue.
Right now though, I'm worried about summer school and the environment.
And while I do wish we could do something more about climate change, it's still important to do the little things. Attending protests, talking to politicians, donating to charities, etc.
I'm just... tired. I'm pissed but numb, and it sucks! It f*cking sucks! Ugh.

Transcript:
Heyo! With pride month starting, here's a quick comic on pride Etiquette, a short guide / general tips on treating lgbt+ people, for the new, curious, and those who forgot!
1) Treat people's identities as the indisputable truth. Even if you don't think they fit the definition, even if you don't understand (the identity), even if you think they're lying, even if they're a bad person. It's not your job nor your business to tell people what to call themselves. Unless they ask for your opinion, only the individual can make that decision.
*There's very few times when an identity can actually be harmful. This includes predatory labels, labels that are bigoted by definition, or people identifying with culture-specific labels when they're not part of that culture. Otherwise, leave them be!
2) Respect and use people's pronouns, regardless of how you feel about them! If you don't know how they work, ask! If you accidentally misgender someone, correct yourself and move on! No need for lengthy or dramatic apologies. However, also make sure to ask when it's appropriate to use them! Someone may not be out to parents, certain friends, etc, and will ask you to purposefully misgender them for safety.
3) LGBT+ people are not responsible for someone else's anti-lgbt+ views! Strange, unbelievable or confusing identities do not cause bigots to be bigots- the lgbt+ community was made because we don't fit society's box, don't fall into the trap of forcing people into another one! If they're not actually hurting anyone, then leave them be!
4) You're not expected to learn every single lgbt+ term / identity. Nobody knows all of them, not even lgbt+ people, so don't worry about it! Simply learn and ask questions as you go!
5) If you're curious about someone's identity, ask if they're comfortable with questions first! There's no harm in educating yourself, but sometimes we get tired of being walking encyclopedias!
Thanks for reading, and happy Pride!!!

We've made an alternate version of the poster which is more outdoors-friendly (that is, won't be messed with by the wind), here's the link to it.
We've made a poster that you can print out.
This poster quotes articles discussing how Jason Kenney has negatively impacted (or actively harmed) queer people, alongside a graphic of his face X'd out. You can find it in this Google doc.
Please print it double-sided, set to "flip on short edge," and when hanging it up, tape it only at the top. This way, people can flip the poster up and read the text on it.

The censored word is censored with a star.

Reminder that Stonewall was a riot, that we have achieved what we have by throwing bricks at cops.
Reminder that we owe our rights not to corporations putting rainbows on everything, not to white cis gays, but to queer and trans women of color.
Reminder that queer liberation goes hand in hand with racial liberation, with anti-imperialism, with decolonization.
Reminder that other queer people are not your enemy, that all m-spec, aspec, nonbinary, trans, and polyamorous people are not only valid and welcome, but inherently fundamental to the queer community.
Reminder that corporations are not our allies, that true queer liberation is not possible within capitalism.
Happy Pride month.

With pride right around the corner, please remember that you don't have to come out. You should come out when you want to, to who you want to, when you feel safe to.

Pride is almost here so I think it is good to remember pride isn't here thanks to world wide companies who "dress in rainbow" just for a month. Pride is here because trans women, butch lesbians, gay men, queer people of color and every other member of the LGBTQ+ community that fought in the past and still fighting today. There are still a lot of things to fight for. So keep fighting until we are sure each one of us is safe and happy. Have a great pride month.

Happy Pride Month!
It's Pride Month, my friends! And as part of the Pridebomb ensemble, we've created another poster! The poem in it was written by the lovely Christian/@michael-ceras-mustache, and posted here with his permission.
Tumblr media
[Image description: A poem, with text written in the style of fridge magnets. The text is on a background of a fridge tinted with the transmasculine pride flag. The text reads "deceive the man, name him maiden, a lady haunts his loathsome voice, the cursed howl, my woman butt. By Christian, (he/him)"
In the bottom left corner of the image is purple text not in the fridge magnet style. It reads "#ProjectPridebomb"
End description.]

All About Demigenders!
As per a previous request, here's some info about demigenders:
People who identify as a demigender feel a partial, but not complete, connection to a certain gender. Many demigender people also consider themselves to be nonbinary.
The team demigender can be used as an for a variety of demigenders (demiboy, demigirl, etc), and is itself a gender identity, for people who feel a partial but not complete connection to a certain gender but feel that sub-labels do not describe them well. Some people refer to this specific gender identity as "deminonbinary"/
Here is the demigender flag:
Tumblr media
Under the umbrella of demigender, other genders include:
Demigirl (flag below) - someone whose gender is partially, but not completely, that of a woman or girl
Tumblr media
Demiboy (flag below) - someone whose gender is partially, but not completely, that of a man or boy
Tumblr media
Demiagender (flag below) - someone who feels a partial, but not complete, connection to gender itself (People who are agender do not have a gender).
Tumblr media
People who are demigender all experience gender differently, and these experiences are all valid, so they may describe themselves in a way that is different than what is listen above - this is just a brief overview. There are also a variety of different flags used for some of these identities. Check out some demigender blogs or the nonbinary wiki pages if you want to learn more!

Project Pridebomb Question Masterpost
What is Project Pridebomb?
At its most basic, a small project to spread pride around neighbourhoods. Like yarnbombing is placing knit and crochet projects around a neighbourhood. We just "bomb" a neighbourhood with pride. No actual bombs involved.
What does Pridebomb entail?
Putting up small, affirming, queer-positive messages around. Here's some examples of messages that may be put up on a fence or at a nearby playground! (Image descriptions in alt text)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What are your/the person who runs this account's pronouns?
They/them/their/theirs/themself or ze/zem/zir/zirs/zemself
What is your stance on [insert sexuality/gender]?
All are valid. This includes microlabels and xenogenders. Neopronouns are valid too. So are multispec gays and lesbians.
Queer identities aren't rigid, and never have been. If you think otherwise, you're forgetting an important aspect of pride.
Where are you located?
Southwest Calgary.
Where do you plan to put up your messages?
Somewhere visible and ideally not on private property. It'd be a real jerk move to decorate someone's outer wallpaper without permission, so the plan is to, well, not do that.
When and how did Pridebomb start?
The idea of Pridebomb spawned on May 7th, 2021. As for the how, I don't remember.
When will these posters/messages be put up?
Hopefully around the first of June! I can't promise anything—I'm disabled and my energy levels are often low—but I will try my best! And if not June 1st, then hopefully sometime within the following days.
Why are you doing this?
To spread joy and pride, to help folks feel seen. Sometimes even just seeing a small pride badge or flag can be affirming, especially for younger queer folks. It's a reminder that, hey, we're not alone! We're here, and that's something to celebrate, even in minuscule ways.
Why are the first letters of "Project" and "Pridebomb" capitalized?
For folks who use screen readers that may otherwise have trouble discerning where and when to start a word. Accessibility is important, and for this reason, I also plan to add image descriptions in the alt text of images, or in a thread if the character limit doesn't cut it.
How can I participate?
Draw, write, or print your own queer-positive messages! Take a picture, and tag us @ProjectPridebomb and/or tag it with #ProjectPridebomb.
Are you a corporation or company?
Nope. Just an enby with a Tumblr blog and a bunch of markers.
Are you affiliated with a corporation or company?
Not as of this post.
Can I donate to you?
I'm not financially lacking or in desperation for supplies. Please consider donating to transition fundraisers or to Skipping Stone instead.
Isn’t this illegal?
The Calgary Police Service website states that “Any figures, letters, drawings or stickers that are applied, scribbled, scratched, etched, sprayed or attached to the surface of any premises, structure or other property is considered graffiti vandalism.” These are posters and print-outs, which are being taped, not “applied” or “attached.” So technically, no.
