Traditional translucent horn combs featuring painted designs of a fish and various birds, crafted in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, once prepared as “Palace” combs for the Imperial Court and delivered in brocade boxes (Dimensions: 16.19 × 4.45 × 0.32 cm for the fish; 9.21 × 3.5 × 0.32 cm for each bird), Credit: Creative Museum.⁣ ⁣ These combs are fashioned from horn that allows light to pass through, with precise painted motifs portraying aquatic and avian subjects. ⁣

Although some consider the deer sacred the goverment encourages local hunters to reduce deer numbers to protect agricultural interests and to address the increasing deer population.
