An Updated List of Offerings to Zagreus
Been seeing some traction on my posts about Zagreus, which is very exciting for me because I love talking about him! I did that first post of correspondences and offering ideas when I was only a week or so into working with him, so here's an updated list of stuff I know for a fact he likes / are associated with him.
Incense: frankincense, sandalwood, cinnamon, copal
Food: Pomegranate, chocolate, anything cinnamon-flavored, spicy things
Drinks: Campari, dark or gold rum, good whiskey, red wine, pomegranate juice
Plants: poplar, cypress, pine, eucalyptus, mint
Animals: crows and ravens, but I also associate him with bones of most animals
And here's some of my favorite offerings to him that anyone can do (not just me, his wife, haha):
Burn incense
Invite him to sit with you while you read or play video games, ESPECIALLY if you're gaming with friends
Drink (responsibly!)
Share some food with him
Play Hades (even if he doesn't look like that, he still enjoys the game)
Engage in your passions, or communicate about them! He has big Wands and Swords energy -- he wants you to be excited about life and gain eloquence in speaking your heart to others.
Learn about his siblings, Melinoe and Makaria, who also tend to get forgotten about.
Figure out how you feel about death and the afterlife. Talk to him about it. He can help you parse your thoughts!
That's my thoughts for right now, hopefully someone finds that useful :)

For devotional acts, some activities that can be done for him include:

Learning How to Clean Bones and Process Carcasses

He is not celebrated in any Athenian holidays (except, perhaps, the Orphic Mysteries).

explain your gender in 10 words or less without using boring words like “male”, “female”, “nonbinary”, “masculine”, “feminine” or “androgynous”.
go!

if you see this please reblog and put in the tags something that made you happy today. a small delight, something that made you smile, or something you're grateful for. doesn't have to be big.

life really be weird. Last months, I didn't witch about at all. Didn't touch my cards, didn't light any candle, barely prayed and offered stuff to the ancestors and the gang, barely did much. This month, I start off by doing a spell in the middle of a storm. I do another a week later, then another three days ago and I barely even remember why. Two days ago, discover a colleague of mine is cursed and unblock her flux a lil bit, then i do it again the next day, and then bAM blessing spell pulled out of my ass at like, eleven pm.
I'm tired but also, cool??? The magic is coming back??? A little?? Guess i'll milk the cow till its dead this time???

hot take but if you're going to be participating in any religion (INCLUDING PAGAN RELIGIONS) you have to research about the culture itself first.

hello! hopping on this, my witchy hot take (probably said over and over by now but bear with me) is that correspondence posts and even historical correspondences can only weight what the practitioner think they weight.
meaning, as long as something resonates with you, anything can mean anything. A symbol only works if *you* believe in its meaning.
edit: an example I found a few times, some people will use crystals and others will find them entirely useless. Everything is different for everyone and building one's practice revolves around fucking around until you get something that works for you.
What is your witchy hot take?
Rules for this post:
Give the benefit of the doubt. If it seems like a blanket statement, it probably isn't, it's probably just based on that person's experience or belief system. Also don't turn it into some weird bigoted stuff or you get blocked.
MY witchy hot take is that I think tarot decks you choose personally match your energy better than those gifted to you.
How are you gunna know if you vibe with it if you've never messed with it before? I vibe with the one's I've been gifted, of course, but not as much as those that I choose myself.

Witchcraft Book Recommendation Lists
Tumblr media
(Reposting again bc tumblr turned off the reblogs on the original wtf. From an answer to an inquiry in the witchcraft tags. Decided to repost for anyone else who might need it.)
Here’s the post I made with recommendations for green witchcraft and plant magic. The list includes magical resources and accompanying practical texts on botany, herbology, and medicinal plants.
Here’s the post I made with recommendations for general witchcraft study, including practical sources on the history of modern witchcraft. (In particular, I recommend Margot Adler’s “Drawing Down The Moon” and Ronald Hutton’s “The Triumph of the Moon” for information about the modern movement.)
Here’s a recent photo of my personal library, if you’re looking for a general list of titles to check out.
Here’s the post I made with a list of JSTOR articles I’ve found that relate to witchcraft, witch trials, folk magic, occult beliefs, superstition, and the history surrounding all of them. It’s not exhaustive, but it’s pretty comprehensive.
And here are a couple of masterlists of podcast episodes that deal with witchcraft, witch trials, the history of witchcraft-related beliefs, and resources for fact-checking and debunking misconceptions and misinformation commonly found in witchcraft spaces.
(Also I have published a few books on practical secular witchcraft, if you’re interested….)
You can also find additional recommendations in the "book recs" and "witchy books" tags on my blog.
Hope this helps!
(If you’re enjoying my content, please feel free to drop a little something in the tip jar or check out my published works on Amazon or in the Willow Wings Witch Shop. 😊)

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you 💖
Hiya! Thanks for the ask!
the crisp smell of rain on concrete when it just started raining
when my cat comes to cuddle me at random moments and starts purring before i even touch him
eating delicious food i cooked myself without rush
knowing I'm loved enough to hear of my friends' achievement, and that they're telling me because they know I'll be happy for them and not jealous
being able to go out whenever I want for errands, to meet people or just to walk around, and knowing pleasure isn't something to feel guilty for, but something to be enjoyed and found in the simplest things
