What do you think would be if Seraphine were to meet Viktor?

"Which Viktor" is the immediate question.

If we're talking Arcane, Seraphine is a kind, empathetic person, I think she'd get along very well with the quiet humble guy Viktor is before the Hexcore takes him over.

But with her ability to hear Songs and souls, I think every phase of S2 Viktor would unnerve and unsettle her. It probably sounds like an eldritch buzzing growing louder and louder with each new Song his hivemind claims as its own.

And she'd be able to hear that the Songs of the people in Viktor's commune aren't really there anymore.

[Camille arcane anon] I missed type on one part of my ask. I could see Viktor and Camille having hostilities towards each other especially regarding the use of Hextech. I could see them having an interesting dynamic. What do you think?

I think it'll be something you might see arise in some form in Ill-Omen's Wrath, so I'm not likely to speculate too loudly lest I spoil myself :)

ok ok..what is your most controversial opinion about lightcannon? if you want to share it.

To break the ice, this is mine (delusional): we are close to getting SG lightcannon canonized or the whole SG universe retconned or drastically changed...after what happened to Viktor, Jayce, Ambessa, Warwick and practically all the champions that aren't in arcane and the multiverse redoing my heart hopes and fears at the same time.

Probably that I write Short, Fem, Sane Lux?

I'll preface that it's absolutely fine to write Lux as a 6 foot buff Amazon or write "Crazier" Lux, those are storied tropes in the LC community and completely valid takes that I very much enjoy reading especially when they're done well.

But when I first started writing Ill-Omen's those were such intense fanon in the community that they were essentially treated as canon.

So I sacrificed the tall leggy gangly Jinx and tiny petite Disney princess Lux of the Wild Rift trailer, aka the characters I wanted to write. I did that in order to fit in, because the fanon peer pressure was so strong. But all of those fanons came from other popular LC authors and not from the (current era) source material. They worked beautifully for those authors but that didn't mean I had to follow them, I just felt intimidated so I did, and it diluted my work and made it less 'me' at least at the beginning.

If I have any regrets about my stories, I wish I'd had the stones to stand up for what I wanted to write back in the beginning. I've since gone back and edited things to have more of my voice, but still. Let that be the takeaway. You don't need to pander to other people's canons if they don't work for you, tell your stories in your voice and they will be stronger for it.

I enjoy Lux is Crazier but it's so much Cal's trope, it's such a defining aspect of Flashbangs and NKB, that I don't think I can write that for my Lux without feeling derivative. I came in on newer lore Lux, so while I won't say my various Luxes aren't a little unhinged sometimes, I've aimed for the contrast of Lux and Jinx coming from very different places and needing to do the work to meet each other where they live, even if the endpoint of loving each other whole and complete is the same.

Also it leaves a lot of character development for both of them as Lux slowly cracks and Jinx slowly heals through the support and perspective of the other, it's delicious.

If anyone's wondering, my Jinx is 5'3"ish because I eventually came around on Tiny Skrunkle Arcane Jinx, and my Lux is 5'4-5'ish and athletic but not as tall or as built as Vi.

Because while my Lux is a fit girl who spends a lot of time outdoors, has had basic sword training and regularly rides a horse, she's never been a frontline fighter and will naturally not have the body type equal to a Zaunite scrapper who's been solving problems with her fists since she could walk.

She's also consistently depicted in her art as being at most chest height on Garen and Tianna if not shorter, and at least a head shorter than the average Demacian soldier. Guess Pieter's stone giant genes all went into Garen.

And my partner and I are both Jinx's height, so maybe I'm just all in on short protagonists (Ekko and Ezreal are short kings to me too) because fuck Western media bias, not every cool person has to be tall.

Also the image of smol baby lesbian Lightcannon running hand in hand while tol Cait and buff Vi chase them is precious to me.

that said I kinda know already that League is the kind of game that seems specifically tailored to make me uncomfortable.

Hi, discovered you in 2023 after watching arcane the year before, i was having a super difficult time the summer of 2023 (fell in a 18+ "exclusive" discord server owned by narcissistic/ self proclamed"bubbly arcane fan" and ended up being treated like shit last minute w/ no warning, i had no friends or any real support irl, i discovered i was autistic just few months ago). Your fics helped me a lot during these trying times where i felt there was no place for Lightcannon content and helped me heal a little the autumn of the same year. I'm sorry you had a rough experience there. The Arcane fandom as a whole has been a mostly positive experience for me but it certainly has its dark side. Community can be wonderful but take care of yourself first, always.

What do you think would happen if Camille ever saw Viktor's commune and his powers(pre-Jayce firing the hammer)?

That's an interesting one.

Because I still think Camille should have had Ambessa's role. Not to say that Ambessa herself isn't a worthy addition to League's roster, to the lore of the show, Ambessa is awesome. But how she ended up being used in the show was a little baffling.

Why would an exiled Noxian warlord team up with a Zaunite folk healer who's rapidly turning into an alien cyborg demigod and everyone he touches becomes part of his eldritch doll hive mind?

Why the heck would Ambessa see that and go "yeah, valid, I can use him, I can control him"? She's arrogant, but she's very far from stupid. If dealing with the Black Rose taught her anything, you'd think it would be a deep distrust and aversion to that level of insane magic. "Hextech weapons" sure, that's weapons technology, that's reliable, comprehensible, a force multiplier that an old general like her would definitely see worth in, but turning proud Noxian troops into an eldritch doll army that isn't even under her control...?

Camille on the other hand is already more than halfway to a machine herself. She's definitely not stupid either, but she would've been much easier to swallow as being on Viktor's wavelength about needing to end the conflict and bring things back to order and stability by extreme means.

It's still a stretch given Camille's backstory and dedication to Piltover and her clan, but it would make more sense that she might see Viktor's evolution as the logical endpoint of Hextech - the same force keeping both of them alive - and a tool she can use to keep Zaun in its place and the equilibrium of the two cities running smoothly. Particularly if Caitlyn has betrayed her at this point and the Enforcers are no longer in her control. She might turn to a more extreme means of keeping order, or she might fall to the Hexcore's whispering voice the same way Viktor did - because she has been physically augmented by so much Hextech herself.

BUT your question specified the commune, pre-ensplorching of Viktor.

That one's more complicated. I think Camille would be quick to put down any sign that Zaun was pulling itself out of the quagmire and / or toying with any power that might put it on Piltover's level.

On the other hand, Viktor's commune are explicitly pacifist and definitely not part of, say, the Jinxer movement that Camille would see as a direct threat of uprising. Zaunites who are docile, calm and easily controlled would perhaps be more of an ideal. She might see them as the beginning of a new, less volatile Zaunite working class to be cultivated and exploited.

So that might stay her hand.

Are there any unpopular league opinions you have ?

I'd say "that I wouldn't actually play League with a gun to my head" but that's not actually unpopular, all of my conversations with my League playing friends go something like this: Them: "Oh, yeah, I love League, I'm so into it, I'll ramble off stats about my main proudly and grumble about Rito and get excited about esports it's great."

Me: "Should I give it a chan-"

Them: "DON"T FUCKING PLAY LEAGUE OF LEGENDS FOR THE LOVE OF THE BABY CHRIST NO SAVE YOURSELF if I THINK YOU'RE GOING TO INSTALL IT I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND THROW ALL OF YOUR ELECTRONICS IN A DUMPSTER FIRE AND IT WILL BE AN ACT OF LOVE. DON'T EVEN FUCKING THINK OF IT BITCH VOW TO ME, SWEAR TO ME!!!"

IDK IG "OG Viktor looks too much like a bad 80's action figure to really sell the 'Glorious Evolution, advanced cyborg' angle. He doesn't look different enough from other borged-up Zaunites. Arcane Viktor was a very cool redesign. Just needed the extra 10% to make it obvious he was a MACHINE herald, some moving parts like Bolbok, a little Giger biomechanical angle."
