Something I need to be reminded of often. Yes, I'm very lazy and also have executive problems up the wazoo (the difference? laziness is fun), but the cultural expectation of being productive every waking moment isn't healthy either. And the business of feeding ourselves is especially fraught these days.

“we need to stop the stigma towards drug users and addicts” and “we need to challenge the idea that being sober makes you boring” and “we need to stop acting like binge drinking to the extent you’re doing medical damage is fun and normal for young people” are all ideas that can and should coexist.

In time travel movies, when the time traveler asks 'What year is this?!?' they're always treated like they're being weird for asking.
When in reality, if you go 'What year is this?!?' people will just say '2024. Crazy huh.' and you go 'Wtf where has my youth gone.'
And if you ask 'And what month??' people won't judge you, they'll just go like 'SEPTEMBER!!! Can you believe it?!?!' and you go 'WHAT?!? Last time I checked we were in May?!?'

Nightwing is like that kid who always invites the outcast unpopular kids to a function, except it's supervillains
When other heroes need to gauge one of the morally grey field agents, the fool proof security question is, " do you know Nightwing? "
if they make a face and mutter something about " that meddling kid ruined my job / mission / gig! "
They're cool. Probably wouldn't bat an eye committing atrocities, but semi stable. Reliable combat partner.
Dick making friends? Left and right. No one knows why the wanted by Interpol, known terrorist is fighting an alien invasion, helping rescue trapped civilians, redirect emergency personnel to triage.
Nightwing said please. Not even an IOU, just please.

I think Dick Grayson has done PSAs for kids on what it means to be Child Vigilantes, and why it isn't for everyone.
With research, anecdotes, and what you can do instead, and why it isn't for everyone.

Was visited by the idea, that they had to start adding Human * in the BatFam's personal file, when people realize they should not be considered baseline human, as it does messes with the newbie aliens and metas familiarization process if they think humans are built like BatFam.

Okay the angst of batkids worrying about Bruce finding out about things they think he will hate but when it happens, it Bruce finding out and going to say something only to be undercut by Alfred telling a story of Bruce doing something similar.

Okay but hear me out
All the batkids know they are child soliders, like they know the psychology. But they also know (dimensional things) and in-depthly discussed the what ifs.
Not one of them every conceptualize or met a happy and healthy 9-5 civilian life.
Like they have all met a version of themself that enlisted. And a couple of version that has been paramedics, nurses, doctors, firemen, police.
But a normal and safe average job? No.

Everyone that knows Batman has kids thinking he would be one those Really Strict Parents that usually go hand in hand with purity culture you know the type.
However,
Batman aka Bruce Wayne is strict about some things usually Safety related Things, but he 100% is weird about it, then he just has Weird Rules. Like, "Don't sneak out of the house" (The house was made, then reinforced to be a fortress, even Bruce doesn't know all the safety measure in place. Definitely don't sneak out the 2nd floor, Guest wing, 3rd room window, we have a pit trap." "Don't be out after 9PM" (You can leave after that, but something about trying to get into the house at 9:00-10:00PM is Gotham weird) Then we start getting to the niche weird rules: "No mixing your liquor types" (Bruce is pretty sure wives tale is based on you are more likely to get alcohol poisoning if you drink many drinks of different alcohol % cause it is harder to track your intact, ask Bruce why he developed that hypothesis)
"If you are going to mess with the manor ghosts, you are the one that has to make the phone call to John C. to fix it." (The ghosts like John, and Bruce hates it, therefore he won't make the call.)
"No Piercings in Vigilante Suits" (Bruce promises you only need to learn the lesson once on who wins flesh or armor in a battle of piercing caught on reinforced armor)
ETC. Just Bruce being strict in a 'I learned my lesson the hard way, please oh god do not follow in my foot steps' which leads to some wild strict reactionary rules. - Feel free to reblog or send asks with other additions.

Nightwing vs Dick Grayson.
I want to say something, there are firm lines that Dick Grayson will never cross. There are firm lines He will never cross as Nightwing, but as Dick Grayson well he was born flexible.
And there is a Also a difference when you are being perceived as a person vs a symbol which is why there should be a notable difference between Dick Grayson, Richard Grayson Wayne and Nightwing and what they show to the world.

De-aged Bruce, bored and wants to start shit: Hey, Tim, was it? I noticed that you kinda look and act like a mini-me. Are you one of my bio kids?
Tim: Nope, I'm actually Janet and Jack Drake's son
Bruce: And? Doesn't refute my statement
Tim: What? Bruce, that's impossible. It's not like you–
Tim, realizes what Bruce was implying: Son of a bitch, you didn't
Bruce: *smirks*
Tim: Seriously?! My mom?!
Bruce: Your dad's a good kisser, too, by the way
Tim: *gags* I did not need to know this
Batkids: *wheezing in the background*
Tim: Why, why are you telling me this?!
Bruce: *goes closer* Because it hurts you

that time when Bruce suggested to his sons to invite Wally, Roy, Conner and Jonathan for dinner in the Manor, he saw how happy his sons were. sure, the table was a bit choaitc as different kinds of energy filled the room, but he didn't mind.
when he saw Dick's radiant smile and Damian's blushing face, and heard Jason's hearty laugh and Tim's soft giggle, he knew he didn't want his sons to be heartbroken ever again.
so he had an idea.
---
when The Justice League ends their meeting at the Watchtower, Batman asks for The Flash, Green Arrow and Superman to stay behind.
Superman: Something wrong, Batman?
Batman narrowed his eyes on the three League members as if he is analyzing them deeply.
Flash, gulps: Um, Bats. I know we've been a Team for years now, but your stare still kinda scares me....
Green Arrow, snorts: Oh dear, old, Spooky. Tell us-
Batman: You do know that I have contingency plans for each of you, right?
Flahs gulps again, Superman nods and Green Arrow rolls his eyes, although they remain silent.
Flash, horrified: Oh no, what did we do wrong? What did I do, Bats?
Superman starts to touch Batman by the shoulder, but Batman steps back.
Batman: They're great, so I know you're raising those kids right.
Batman, walks towards the exit: Because if my sons get hurt, I'm taking the actions to you.
and they finally understood.
Green Arrow: Oh.
Superman, smiles: Aw, don't worry, Batman. My boys are well-raised and behaved. They got it from their mama.
Green Arrow: Spooky, Roy is a father now. He and Jason are taking care of Lian, so they're locked for life. Plus, he knows he doesn't want to get on The Red Hood and Batman's bad sides.
Flash: Wally would never hurt Dick. He's got a crush on him since they were kids.
Batman, pats his utility belt: Contingency plans. Never forget.
he finally leaves the room.
the room is quiet, you can hear a pin drop on the floor even if you're not a super.
Green Arrow, speaks first: Doesn't he just use those plans when we've gone off the rails, or something like that?
Superman: Well, it's his sons' happiness we are talking about here.
Flash, releases a shaky breath: Damn it. I'm calling Wally.
Green Arrow: Oh fu- I barely know where Roy is these days.
Superman, already ahead of the two: See you both!
he's already flying out the room, already concentrating on finding both of his sons.

To distract from my angst thought
Dick Grayson as a child, has 100% stared too long at a formal wood chair, and went 'one bite shouldn't hurt'
and to this day it is the chair set out for Dick during formal events.
