as mentioned in yesterday's post, claws and teeth match the respective weapon. if a shifter doesn't have any weapons (like after mihawk destroyed zoro's swords in their very first fight) then they just have claws in their human form as well.

okay! so! i read a few too many fics where zoro was part mink (or part tiger or could just shift into a tiger, etc etc) and now I have al little idea brewing (that may or may not get written) where zoro can shift into a tiger and his swords are, like, literally his claws and teeth (sort of).

the idea is, tiger shifters are able to store their claws in their weapons, usually a sharp of some kind, as a way for them to kinda disguise themselves as a regular human. it changes the color of their claws to the sword that goes in whichever hand (so zoro usually has kitetsu in his left hand which means his left claws are a bright red).

everyone just kinda figured it was impossible to store a weapon in your teeth (because what idiot would put a knife or sword in their mouth...) anyway, zoro, local sword-wielding idiot, decides he's gonna store his teeth in a sword (because idk 3 swords is cooler?? he's an idiot??? any other of the numerous reasons????). and he actually manages it, but since the sword that acts as his teeth is white literally no one realizes there's a sword there.

additionally, shifters have several different forms, ranging from fully animal to fully human. zoro finds having his ears and tail out most comfortable. but usually he hides them under his haramaki and bandana. he does take his bandana off so that he can actually hear everything for serious fights rather than putting it on here.

you're not quite an emergency, is the thing. you're just having a bad spell. so what if you can't ever really catch your breath. can't ever really feel at ease. a buzzing, terrible feeling.

but emergencies are loud, and passionate, and hit the floor. you are not a lion or a hurricane, you just live in a pretty okay apartment and your back hurts. you wake up and drag yourself out of bed and banish what if i was dead thoughts like cobwebs. you pick out your clothes and try to stay active. you apply for jobs on the internet.

the anxiety is a wave, and the depression is a spiral. the other stuff keeps things "colorful." you mitigate your symptoms and take your meds when you have them and you try to hang out with friends. you go home and your head is full of riverwater. no matter how much you sleep, you still stay tired. you journal and practice gratitude and build from the bottom upwards. and still, the haunting.

you're not a 911 call or a shriek. you're just staring up at the ceiling and feeling the house settle into your bones. you feel you are playacting as a wolf when you're only a sheep. not quite dry and not quite drowning.

so... i got some new skin-safe markers for my birthday and finally got a chance to put it on me :)

a white version that I put kinda small on my forearm!!

and a colored version up on my bicep/shoulder area!!

i love the way wrecker's explosion came out in the colorful version, but i think I prefer the white one I tiny bit more
