WANDS OUT! by persephone_stone
Hermione/Draco
8.5 馃専!!!
Okay. This fic was SO MUCH fun to read! I have seen the movie Knives Out multiple times and I love how the author interpreted and switched up the original mystery and characters. Like you absolutely will not forsee the twist (though there are clues when I look back I still don't see how I could have put it together!).
It has wonderful classic mystery atmosphere and I think that the detectives are fresh and fun. Theo Nott is an absolute delight, dramatically swooping in to stir the shit. Dumbledore is also a delightful old man and he made me cry a little! And I'm not a Dumbledore person, he's just more like what I wish he was in canon.
My only negative is that there were sections that moved a little fast for me! I could have lingered more in the. tension between some characters and in the details of the mystery!
I recommend for fans of the movie, fast paced mysteries, and for anyone who likes little glimpses at lots of side characters!

This is maybe the fic I have loved the longest. It wasn't my first wolfstar, but it was my first *favorite* and I just really feel like giving it a little extra love today.
This fic was originally found on WolfandHound archive and it was saved by the archivist when the site went down, so you can still find it on AO3.
It is very different going back and reading it now that fic tropes have moved on and changed. But I would argue it's a classic of that particular weird little 'stuck together' trope. Like forced proximity on steroids. You don't read a ton of fics with this idea anymore so it feels very fresh and different.
It's very angsty in a specifically queer way. I never fail to cry reading it. The sexy bits are very true to age but they don't feel cringey at all (Though the fact that it's a bit smutty and it *feels* like highschool to me is more off putting than it once was.)
You rarely find such a wonderful friends to lovers. It truly feels like they are discovering each other and you are going to fall in love with them.
I recommend for almost everyone. Please read and squee with me. (maybe not if you can't take Snape bashing though because he is not nuanced in this 馃槄)

I enjoyed the absolute shit out of this story.
I have no idea why but I've been stuck on Hermione taking care of really broke down post Azkaban Lucius fics for a couple days and this fic just takes the cake.
The PTSD rep in this is surprisingly good, like Lucius has some pretty significant personality changes, he is doing some trauma bonding, he flees/fights/fawns. It's just surprisingly nuanced!
And Hermione is so unceasingly kind. It's so easy to imagine this construction of her seeing a trapped, traumatized person who wants to be better and just throwing her entire self at the problem.
Draco, absolutely heartbreaking. Annoying but heartbreaking because he deeply loves his dad.
I really enjoyed the domestic fluffy bits of this fic. There's a lot of awe and joy and I really needed it. Lucius watches Star Wars in this fic and the blow by blow is excellent.
The author makes a lot of apologies about their Lucius being out of character but I think they did a wonderful job of showing us why certain changes occur! (Don't listen to the imposter syndrome Speculating! You're doing wonderfully)
Would have given it an 8 except honestly the slow burn was a little too slow for me. I needed a little more time with them as a couple. Just as a release for all that romantic tension that was built.

A Tale of Two Draco's (but only one Ginny) by Anise

So this is a weird fic for me!
I really loved some of the setting, and the premise is wildly interesting to me. There were tons of moments where I just got lost aesthetically. Especially the big Winchester mansion vibes. I love a good haunting and the idea that a multiverse could somewhat explain it really appeals to me.
But I also kept getting confused.
I think that is intended as a feature, not a bug, because the essence of the fic requires disorientation. But regardless of intent it wasn't something that worked for me personally.
I was also really turned off by the descriptive focus on the pain of having a hymen ruptured or even just having rough penetrative sex early in sexual exploration. It was important for the dynamic that was being drawn story wise, but I just had a really hard time getting past it . . . which is a shame because if you are into sweet, tender lovemaking the smut is pretty excellent in this fic. Very descriptive in a nice gutteral way.
So I'm undecided on who I would recommend this fic to. If you like WeIrD fics that fudge around with multiverse definitely give it a go.

So I *really* loved this fic. It is this classic Dramione that's been recommended to me a million times and I finally got around to it and boy do I wish I'd done it sooner!!
But it did keep me entertained during a long power outage!
The magic and hogwarts vibes are exquisite in this fic. And I love the concept of the house resorting (even if I don't agree with some of the placement!). It's just so unique and I found myself wondering about many of the other characters who didn't get a chance to resort!
Theo is an excellent side character with this really interesting backstory and I wish I could read a whole fic about him!
Oh and there was an amazing drinking game scene! You know that's my heart and soul!!!
It dragged a little bit at the end for me but I think that's just because I didn't feel the need for much denoument and that's a personal taste issue. I just thought it was well resolved chapters before the end.
Highly, highly recommend for anyone who really loves unique magic and Hogwarts castle specifically. And for anyone who has ever thought the sorting system needs an update! Small caution for alcoholism/self harm with a character, but not the main pairing.

Sing Me A Rare: UK Invasion! - colection
Rare pairs of all kinds!
9.9馃専!!!
I just had the good fortune to be a judge in the Fairest of the Rare Facebook group's biannual Sing Me a Rare completion and it was a wonderful experience!
All the fics are themed around songs with UK origins and it is a truly wonderful collection of stories!
There is something for everyone here! Dark fics? They got it. Fluff?? Cottoncandy class. Romance galore. Interesting story concepts.
I would recommend at least one of these stories for any reader!
My personal faves were
Shattered Faith by Willowingends (Lily/Narcissa)
Welly Boots by Zorak23 (Snape/Luna)
Take me Back by LadyKenz347 (Pansy/Harry)
Be Running by Sulis Writes (Lucius/Tonks)
White Blank Page by Niightkiitten17 (Luna/Bill)
We Can be Heroes (Just for one day) by meditationsinemergencies (Petunia/Snape)
But all the fics have something wonderful to recommend them! I'd rate it a ten but it seems rude to do for a comp! I know I always feel I can do better 馃槄 so I'll leave that teeny percentage point for improvement 馃槈

I just re-read this recently for a facebook fic bookclub and I was very surprised by how many people just didn't like it!
My opinion is that it's very well written. The premise is super interesting. I love how deeply we get to know the characters as individuals. I think the author did a great job implementing interesting and new magical concepts without breaking the universe. The development of side characters and friendships is just beautiful!
Like the only bad thing I can say is that the sex is not particularly well written, but it's also *supposed* to be uncomfortable.
But having seen what a lot of readers think it might not be for you if you need your characters to never even think of other people sexually or romantically. I also think this fic needs a dubcon tag because the sex is technically forced by circumstances.
I think fans of marriage law might like this fic! It has a lot of similar elements. Also, despite all the sex it's a slowburn?? Lol. It's also very sweet.

I would say this is an excellent PWP except honestly there is a plot and it sort of makes the fic for me even if it's just a framing device?? 馃槄
The smut really is excellent but what makes this fic stand out for me is that the author pulled off an almost crackfic premise in a way that doesn't feel like crackfic, and that they really pushed the envelope with their choice of tense and POV.
It's a little dark. A little intense. ( This blog isn't a tw archive, but I do think this fic could use a dubcon tag, though it's pretty mild)
I have been deeply in need of fics featuring kind of terrible characters lately and this one really fit my bill. I would recommend it for anyone who likes interesting writing choices, characters making unlikable choices, and fics that are a little filthy 馃槄

Y'all. This fic is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it.
Lucius is an absolute bastard, James is bumbling but so sweet, and Lily is an actually engaging character Hallelujah!
And the smut is top notch.
I would highly recommend this fic for Lucius/Hermione readers. It's not your preferred female lead but I think you'll find this Lily acceptable! Jily fans might have to suffer a little through it but I think their relationship development is phenomenal.
Mind the tags before reading friends!

Viktor/Hermione
9馃専!!!!
Read this fic immediately!!
I'm being serious. It's that good.
Just the right length for a single lengthy binge read and it has so much to recommend it.
Hermione is so well crafted. She feels exactly like book Hermione to me, just with some years under her belt. Viktor is so charming in a quite, understated kind of way, and the Granger-Weasley children are actually bearable and feel like people.
Props to the author for writing a believable, reasonable divorce fic without resorting to Ron-bashing! There is a scene near the end that turned me into an absolute sobbing mess and in it Ron gets to be a real, nuanced character!
This fic would have been a 10 star for me if Viktor's accent wasn't carried over from the books. It's always bothered me in the books because it sounds Russian not Bulgarian when you read it aloud. I understand the choice but it did annoy me a couple times so it couldn't get the perfect score 馃槄
I would recommend this fic for readers who like really emotionally impactful fics. It's also very romantic in parts and the smutty bits are spicy enough 馃挍馃挍馃挍 I honestly think most readers would like this.

This fic is so wonderful go read it right now!!! You will love it I'm almost certain 馃挍馃挍馃挍
I am a huge fan of the Movie 'Leap Year' and that movie is the base that makes this fic so fun to read! The snarky relationship between the main characters is the perfect fit for a Sirimione.
I love the road trip aspect, especially how little details from both the HP series (Sirius' motorbike) and the Leap Year movie (there's only one bed!) Weave together.
The thing that surprised me is how much I enjoyed the portrayal of Hermione's relationship back in England. Cormac is a much more complex and nuanced character than he appears at first glance, and Hermione's motives are flawed. It makes the whole thing much more relatable with the characters being so complexly rendered.
I honestly could have read 10 more chapters of them tooling around Ireland. Don't let the star rating fool you, it's not absolutely perfect but it's still amazing! My heart wanted to have seen them at a wedding while they were traveling!
I would recommend for anyone who loves fluff and witty banter, definitely recommend for lovers of the movie Leap Year. If you have infidelity squicks prepare yourself though!

The Prisoner and the Occlumens by duskywolfdaemon
Snape/Hermione
7馃専!
I've mostly just been posting reviews of fics I've read and loved in the past, but this was the first fic I was able to sit down and read beginning to end in a few weeks and I felt like that merited a review right away!
I really liked the writing in this fic and there is this this theme running through it about not being responsible for how other people react, but instead for what you say and do that I really loved.
The occlumency was really interesting and I loved the character dynamics. There is so much fun magic in this and I felt like Neville and Ginny and Ron are really well done as side characters!
The romance between Severus and Hermione takes a long time to build and I enjoyed the slow realization of feelings.
This probably would have gotten a higher rating except while Hermione is technically of age, she is still Severus' student and that does honestly squick me. I will read fics like this if she is of age if they seem really good though and the teacher/student dynamic is minimal.
It helps that they feel on very even footing because they are both acting much more as generals in a war than anything else.
I would recommend this to anyone who really likes to explore occlumency and to anyone who likes strong side character relationships. Not for anyone who can't handle violence though! And it is a slow burn so beware!

Safe Word is Devil's Snare by ShayaLonnie
Neville/Hermione
9馃専!!
This is such a wonderful fic and honestly if you enjoy BDSM fics and you haven't read it you are missing out! It's one of the few I've read in the genre that feel really healthy and well done.
Neville is the purest most perfect cinnamon roll but he's also unbearably sexy in this. And Hermione is so distractible and research oriented even in the romance parts. I love that!
The writing is also amazing! ShayaLonnie always does a wonderful job.
My only problem with this fic is it's a teensy bit lacking in plot in places for me but it's really a very small complaint.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes BDSM fic, even if this isn't your normal pairing, and also for anyone who loves a healthy relationship dynamic! I promise the sexcapades aren't extreme and you'll be able to enjoy how much the characters support and love each other.

Snape/Hermione
10馃専!!!
This fic is AMAZING and deeply underrated.
I will read out if character fics as long as they are well written, canon shouldn't limit us that much imo, but this is the rare fic that makes a dramatic departure from canon and manages to keep the main characters perfectly in character.
This is not a nice Snape. This is not a romantic Hermione. They are difficult people who aren't always very easy to like, but that is what makes me like them!
I love how much guilt and responsibility are explored in this fic, and the humor is absolutely top notch. It made me think while I was reading and the way the characters grow is just perfect.
Also there's a chain-smoking house elf and she stole my heart 馃挍馃挍馃挍
Would recommend for people interested in ethics, 'unlikable' female characters, and unusual takes on the Marriage Law trope! Also just everyone because it seriously is one of my absolute faves!

Ginny/Pansy
8馃専!
This is one of my absolute favorite Ginny/Pansy stories!
You see almost no war Era fics for these two, and relatively few fics that are plot heavy. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into what it could have been like as one of the young and unmarked among Voldemort's ranks.
There is this creeping paranoia that is pervasive in the fic and we get to view it all from someone who is barely in the middle of the ranks.
Also, Ginny is a BAMF in this. My only real complaint is that I wish there was MORE interaction between between her and Pansy! So much of the story is told as Pansy watches from afar.

Another Dream by dragoon811
Snape/Hermione
8馃専!!!
I am not always a fluffy fic person, but this fic is chock-full of wonderful fluff and healing from past angst and I adore it.
The story is beautifully written and I loved how the author handled Snape's disability without limiting him as a character. Often times when a character in fic loses a major sense or ability (in this case Snape is mute from a throat injury sustained during Nagini's attack) it becomes an excuse to cure them or toss them to the back or treat it like a super power. This fic does it much better.
The whole character arc is just very believable and kind. I wish that all soft, sweet fics could enrapture me as much as this one. Honestly of it had more of a *plot* this would probably be a 10馃専 for me! But it is exactly what it's meant to be and that's just fine 馃挋
Read if you love a slow build of friendship and romance, couples being more than the sum of their parts, cozy domestic fluff.
