⛰️ DURIAN - SEASON UPDATE PENANG: What to expect now (big post): . There will be a season low, lasting about 3 weeks starting right now. That is because there are 2 seasons in a row, partly overlapping, but as one ends and the other season starts, there are shortcomings right now... There is still enough, don't worry! 😁 There are very tiny, tennisball sized Durian fruits alongside huge, ready to drop Durians on THE SAME TREE ! 😮 I saw it myself pretty everywhere on Penang, also just today. . After that, about 25.6 +-, it starts with following Durian varieties first: . *D600 *Lipan *Capri *D11 . The prices will drop again after that. Now they start to rise, as mentioned above(Kampung went from 8 to 10rm, Red Prawn from 18 to 20rm, MusangKing from 35 to 40rm) - still very cheap! . 👉 IMPORTANT - the prices are very low now, that is because most people cannot eat the fruits during daytime (that's when they are the freshest and most available) because of RAMADAM, the muslim fasting period. That means there is much much less demand now. 😉 Good for us... . Just keep in mind that the prices will rise rapidly : on Thursday, 14.june - that day marks the end of Ramadam, and it marks also a DURIAN NATION - after a long fast - going crazy 🤪 on Durian 😊 Don't worry if you should come later, in Juli you will be satisfied, there will be plenty, this will be a very good time to come! View from a hill in PENANG. . This was on one of our Durian hunts in Penang, we stopped at the road and I took this picture. . The scenery is so beautiful here, wherever you go, wherever you are, there is always a lush greenery visible. 🌱 When you drive through the forest, you drive literally through Durian orchads, there are trees everywhere. DURIAN - HOW TO CHOOSE A SUPERB ONE: It's all about this: 👉 F R E S H N E S S 👈 . Do you see the stem of the fruit in the picture? This is what you need to look at if you want the full Durian experience ! It needs to be 🌞 green, wet, fresh, thick, with a wet or jelly coating on the top of the stem. - and not 👉 dry, wrinkled, shrunk and brown on the top. 🛑 I had very fresh Durian again today, organic, just freshly dropped, and i had an AMAZING "Ang Heh" Durian, it has now become my favourite here in Penang, besides the unbelievable "TEKKA" Durian. . Well these 2 are pretty high in the list now for me, so i want to recommend them to you I tell you, a fresh dropped ANG HEH (RED PRAWN) is unbelievable good, and the taste changes a looot within the first hours after the drop from the tree! You like Durian and think you know what a good Durian tastes like? ☝️ Not until you had a FRESH DROPPED one! Minutes can make the difference! 😁 . . A whole science short: Wanna try something really good: 👉 try RED PRAWN + TEKKA 👈 BUT, make shure they are freeeesssshhhh! 😁 👉go in the morning, or go to the farm, ask for old tree, ask for fresh dropped, smell the numbness, i described it in my last posts. . NUMB DURIAN SENSATION : . 🌍That's me at a DURIAN MONUMENT in PENANG.🌎 . I travel as a DURIAN HUNTER, so whenever i get the chance to make a photo of me in front of a Durian statue, i take it. 🤣🤗 . Before taking this photo we had really fresh dropped, still NUMBING, ORGANIC Durian for breakfast, directly from the farmer (and it was 3 times cheaper than at BaoSheng!) We even saw his farm and trees from there, maybe 200m from there where he sold them, it's that close! We had the very best RED PRAWN so far, fallen just opposite and not long ago. (Red Prawn is a Durian cultivar of high quality and price, a very famous and sought after type) It was incredible! We also had "Kuhn Poh", "Kapri", "D604" . . NUMB DURIAN - is different : 😁 👇 . If you never had a Durian that has just dropped (max. 2 hours or so) and you like Durian, than you have missed something, something huuge: the NUMB sensation, a whole new taste which a Durian only has for a very short time after dropping to the ground (max 2 hours + - ) It changes all the taste of the fruit, and even the consistency is totally different too. 😉 And it makes your tongue numb after some pieces, but in a good way! 😁 Even the fruit itself smells very different, not like a typical Durian, more grassy, like soil or the tree, like leafes. When it is still Numb, it has a acidity, vinegarlike smell to it, you can smell it along the seams and it smells differently at every pod of the fruit, depending on how it has fallen (how hard, how high, where it impacted, how thick the skin is,...) The reason for all this are complex chemical reactions inside the fruit (not studied at all), which tells the fruit: "okay, that's it, i just dropped, now i can make myself ready to be eaten" 😂 . NUMB = ❤️💚💙💜🧡 . If i rate a perfectly ripe Durian, but not just fallen and without that Numb Sensation a 10/10, than i must rate the same fruit, but just fallen and still "alive" a 20/10 !!! - Yess, it is THAT much differenence ! 😁 .
