Mostly because I had the thought "Kasen is extremely Ralsei-like" which of course was followed by "surely I can draw the WaHH trio as the Deltarune trio, they share so many similarities" followed by the incredibly scary string of words "Yukari Gaster" manifesting in my brain, at which point I knew I was going too far and slowly loosing myself to madness and had to stop.

9 years ago on this date, Kasen made her first game debut with the release of the ULiL demo! Happy Kasenversary! I remember it like it was yesterday. 🥳

Every time someone in the tags unironically agrees with Yukari over Kasen a celestial is exiled from heaven.

Gensokyo's status quo is unsustainable and making everyone who is unable to conform to it or who wishes to deviate from the standard miserable, and any attempts at an alternative system getting shot down as "unachievable" is starting to feel like a conspiracy, and even Yukari herself seemed to be way more accepting of Kasen's existence compared to other individuals she has shared her plight and ideology with, like Reimu and Mamizou, who have called what she's doing things like "so dangerous it must never be accepted as the standard" and "the lifestyle of lowly garbage that can't even be called youkai". And Yukari is way more of an expert on youkai and the Barrier, so despite her presence in this comic, she might be more willing to let things slide than other important figures within the land. Kasen, while being a willing participant of the Gensokyo project and one of the people that contributed to it, is actively going against these rules, and is clearly unwavering in her decision, despite often getting called naive. And even if her naiveté is indeed delusional, the fact that to be forced to live "as she should" would make her miserable is also true, therefore there's no denying that to insist she must, feels cruel. In the end, even Reimu, the gods' favorite hypocrite, accepts her friend like nothing's changed, despite her whining and barking and complaining, which is the point of the second comic, since she herself is defined by the conflict between her ideology / duties and her personal feelings. Where was I going with this I forgot to make a joke. Sorry.
