How's this for growing up...

I just realized I got pregnant the week after the original Pokemon series ended in Japan. 😅

One childhood ends... another begins!

Can't wait for him to pick his starter. 😍

I told myself I wasn't going to invest in Pokemon Horizons. But....

Y'all I'm still hoping that Ash and Misty are Liko's parents.

Is it likely? No.

Is it still possible until they reveal her parents? Yes.

Liko's parents were at the Indigo School together, but that doesn't mean they were students. Maybe they taught! A champion and a gym leader can be teachers.

And maybe Misty's parents live in Paldea and we will get an explanation about why Misty and sisters were abandoned.

With the wild genetics in Misty's family - why can't her mother and daughter have blue hair?

And I could totally see Misty sending bodyguards to protect her new trainer daughter.

But if it not Liko... Roy? 😆

I posted a while back with a summary of my version of Ash's final episode - now I've made it into a short one-shot fanfiction!

I'm happy with how it turned out for only working on it for 2 hours.

As I expected, we were treated to a cute, fluffy, nostalgic filler ending.

Like, yeah, it was symbolic and I can appreciate that, but I really hoped I'd be wrong. I wanted something important to happen. Pidgeot returning and Team Rocket blasting off saved it. We could have had older Ash, a party with all his companions interacting, and Ho-Oh. Instead, we got Misty and Brock leaving immediately, domestic Ash, a new pair of shoes, and cherry blossoms.

I know they will be back, so an open ending makes it easier. They will continue to be the mascots even though they won't be in the foreground. When they return, they will have grown stronger and made more memories. Hopefully, we'll see all his Pokemon and companions every now and again.

I will say it was fitting and sweet, and exactly what I expected. Not a bad episode - just not what I craved.

Hello! I was completely obsessed with reading the pokeshipping fanfic posted to ffnet around 2015~2017 and I favorited about 300+ stories during that time. The ones that stood out the most to me were the ones written by NINT, especially Spitfire and Locked Away. I have other recs if you're interested, but a lot of them would be AU if you're okay with it.

Awesome! I will check those out! It's been a long time since I found one I was captivated by. Thanks a ton! I don't mind AU as long as it is still a Pokemon Universe.

I know I'm going to love this episode for the nostalgia and everything, but damn I bet it will be a boring episode. 20 minutes of cute filler.

I wanted a huge party for all his friends and Pokemon, and I wanted Ho-Oh to make an appearance. I wanted an explanation about his eternal youth. I wanted to meet his dad. I wanted Pidgeot's return. I wanted Ash and friends to finally grow up.

I bet he will just leave everyone behind to go off with Pikachu again. Maybe they will go off to Paldea next so that Liko and Roy can run into them.

I will probably watch a few episodes of the new Pokemon, but I don't picture myself being as dedicated. The new Pokemon can be for the new generation. Just please do right by Ash's ending!

This is how the legacy of Ash Ketchum should carry on:

Ash and friends should be aged up to young adults who have achieved their dreams.

Liko and Roy are big fans of Ash and hope to meet him someday.

On their journey, they meet big names in the Pokemon world (Ash's friends) who tell them all about their journeys with the legendary champion:

Misty is pissed that her (boy)friend hasn't come by or called for a long time.

Brock helps heal their Pokemon and is recognized as Ash's best friend.

Tracey shows them sketches of Ash and his Pokemon throughout the years.

Gary sneers that Ashy boy is just another trainer, but obviously doesn't believe it.

Professor Oak says they remind him of someone he knows.

May, Dawn, and Serena tell them how much Ash taught them about friendship and battling, and how he taught then to chase their dreams.

Iris is mad because she lost a battle with Ash who used an ice type against her.

Cilan tells them how perfectly matched Ash and Pikachu have always been.

Bonnie and Max, who now travel together as teens, talk about how heroic Ash has always been.

The Alola gang talks about how they went to school together and how he won the first Alolan Championship.

Professor Kukui reflects on how Ash became like a son to him.

The stories make them want to meet him even more!

However, he is very elusive, and almost no one knows where he is at any given time.

Eventually, they do bump into him briefly, but he is busy saving the world as usual.

They don't get to talk to him much, but he inspires them to chase their dreams even more.

They continue their journey, hoping to meet him again someday.

I know they don't want to age him up, but think about how well Legend of Korra went over! They even killed main characters, and the world of Avatar carried on.

Pokemon wouldn't have to kill characters off, but aging them up would be a nod to the older fans and give him ways to fit into the new series in a new way.

I can't believe they made MO5 canon just like that. That's awesome. I feel like there has always been a question whether or not the movies were au, and that clears it up for me.

What was the point of this episode and the callback to MO5 though?

My guess is simply to clarify that the movies are Canon- except, of course, AU Ash movies.

Thoughts and theory time:

1. The Latias and Latios in MPM10 are the offspring of MO5 Latias that we see at the end of MO5.

2. Potentially, MO5 Latias could come find Ash in the last episode and join him now that her children are grown and can guard Alto Mare. However, I doubt she would leave her brother's soul dew.

3. This could be a metaphor. The children of the MO5 Latias are the new guardians of Alto Mare. The new children, Liko and Roy, will be the new protags of the anime. It is passing the baton. Could it be hinting that one or both of them are children of previous main characters? Could Pokemon really create a new generation and finally age up the original characters? I doubt it, but maybe.

Dear Pokemon writers,

I was perfectly content with Ash never growing up and never really falling in love... until you aired JN138 (Satoshi VS. Kasumi! Seaside One-On-One!).

Now, there are two episodes left of Ash's reign. Maybe just one with Misty. I've refallen in love with the original trio and Ash and Misty's dynamic.

And all I want now is a hand holding moment or a sweet comment and blush that would lock Pokeshipping in as canon. No more of the cyptic hints! Concrete evidence please!

I don't really need a happily ever after - just enough to reassure me that I am not insane for believing they belong together for the 20+ years I've been shipping them!!

MPM10 is called "Satoshi and Latios" according to Bulbapedia.

Latios? I thought Ash would capture Latias.

Will he capture one? both?

Will he help them, and then they go on their way?

Pokeshipping angle: What if Ash captures one and Misty captures the other? Then they have to stay together forever. 🥰

I know there have been posts about this very Misty like adult... and I agree that there is something fishy about it! Admittedly, I didn't notice this until I went back and watched for it.

Like why? Why would they create a random adult background character that has the exact same color scheme as Misty, and then put her next to a boy/teen who looks quite a bit like Ash especially in the same shirt that Ash wears in Journeys.

Let's not stop there though. Check out the next little kid; a girl with almost light maroon colored hair that is up in a fountain pony tail (reminds me of Misty). I can’t begin to pretend I know how anime hair color is passed on genetically, but I might assume that color is somewhere between black and orange - especially considering the wacky genetics of the Waterflowers. She also has hazel eyes like Ash.

My favorite, however, is the third kid: boy who looks even more like Ash with black hair, hazel eyes, a red cap, and an innocently happy go lucky smile.

All three children are wearing blue just like Ash always has.

This can't just be random. It is too many coincidences for one scene to be completely random! We Pokeshippers don't believe in coincidences!

I've been writing/reading fanfiction for a long time - since 2006 actually.

I have a lot of stories that I wrote as a preteen/teen that just make me laugh at how cringy they are, but hey we all start somewhere!

My pride and joy is a novel length Pokemon fanfic I started in college and finished a few years later. I surprised myself, and it is the reason I want to write my own book someday.

I would like to share this story with you, and also, I would love to collect a list of pokeshipping stories that you are proud of!

Please share yours! I want to read some good stories over my spring break. :)

My version of Ash's final episode:

Ash is having a celebration at Oak ranch with all of his Pokemon and friends.

Gary asks him if he is close to becoming a Pokemon Master.

Ash goes off alone with Pikachu and reflects about his adventures.

They run into Pidgeot who has a family of its own.

Ash thinks about all the lives he has touched, changed, and molded.

Upon realizing that he truly is a Pokemon Master, Ho-oh appears face to face.

Ash thanks Ho-oh that his dreams have been fulfilled, and he walks under the rainbow which undoes Ho-oh's wish.

Ash is aged up in front of our eyes to a young adult.

He returns to his friends who have all been aged up as well.

Ash and Misty hold hands and share a meaningful look.

A new adventure unfolds.
