The most jarring part about returning to tumblr after all these years is seeing my old ass art gaining traction every once in a while. A lot of it is from back when I was in HIGH SCHOOL and as much as I am grateful that people still find it and enjoy it enough to like/reblog/comment, I still cringe every time it crops up in my notifications 🫣

hi i'm curious (because you mainly draw portraits/figures, as do I) was there ever a time you didn't feel comfortable drawing landscape/architecture? If you did how did you get over that? Or do you have any thing that helps you?

I honestly still struggle with landscapes and architecture, so every time I attempt it it feels like a huge challenge! However, don't underestimate the power of reference images!

I do paint traditionally! Just not as often anymore bc I don’t study art at school and I just don’t have time, but it’s something I want to focus on more in the future.

I guess my biggest inspirations go back to my early days on tumblr so burdge bug was a big one back in the day, viria, minuiko, and most importantly for me, phobs. There were many others I cannot even recall off the top of my head right now.

but later i also started to draw inspiration from more classical (especially 19th cent) artists and illustrators like alphonse mucha, leyendecker, winterhalter, etc.

which artist were you thinking of? I’m curious, so do let me know!
