Personally, I think that this post came at a perfect time for me. I think that it correlates with greater themes that we need to think about when looking at the popularity of the ships.

We'll start with the obvious: Longevity, the longer they are teammates it is easier to write stories of them together and there are more time to write stories about them. If we'll take this tracker of the top 10 ships of hockey rpf on ao3, we can see that Sidney Crosby/Evgenni Malkin passed Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews as the most popular ship only at 2018. However, the main thing that I would note is the fact that as the years progressed the stories about Sidney and Evgeni still came coming at a steady pace that I would argue is due to the fact that they still played along one another on the same team. However, if we think about Patrick and Jonathan we see that the number of fics published about them is getting fewer and fewer with the years, and I think it is partly because the year that Jonathan had to miss and then the fact that they no longer teammates (I am aware of the elephant in the room regarding them, I will talk about that later).

Long distance relashionships and crossed-teams ships are possible but I think that it make it difficult across the years to continue writing consistently about them. If we'll take the ship of Travis Konecny/Nolan Patrick for example it is a classic case of it. They were an emerging, popular ship of young players. The amount of fics published about them was pretty high. However, since the trade of Nolan Patrick and since then his injury we see how it is still an existing ship, however they no where near as popular as when they were when they were on the same team.

The second aspect that I think that we need to look at is the Age of the players. In oppose to canon-based fanfiction, here we don't deal with canon. Meaning that when it comes to the ages of our "characters" in RPF we have a bigger emphasis on their current age and the progression of time and the age of our "characters". Naturally the passage of time also being reflected in the type of stories we'll write about them.

If we'll take this list of the top 10 ships, the stories that were written about Sidney/Evgeni, Patrick/Jonathan and Nicklas/Alexander when they just came to the league and were in their late teens/early twenties is fundamentally different from the type of stories that is tended to be written about them now, which include themes such as marriage and children as oppose of the start of relashionship/pining stories.

I think that this evolution in the type of stories being written about the ship as they progress in age is natural. Most of said players getting married and having children of their own as the years passing. Also the og shippers that used to write about them at the beginning of their career are getting older themselves and maybe married and having children themselves. Meaning that the type of stories they are interested to write and read about is changing as well.

Yet, to younger fans who just getting into the NHL or just getting into reading hockey RPF, it make sense that they will gravitate towards the younger and newer ships, such as Macklin/Will that for older fans may seen like the new, shiny version of the "OG ao3 couples" that are part of the older generation of the NHL. Also, when it comes to what certain people likes to read, is up to personal preference, but some people like to read about people their own age that are at the same stage of life as them. So it make sense that the younger fans would like to read and write about the younger players.

The third aspect that I think we have to think about when it comes to the popularity of certain ships is Controversies of the players. Because we are talking about RPF, we are talking about real people. Yes, the version that we are talking about is separated from the actual person, and it is more of a character that is based on our perception of the player from what we see from interviews and social media along with tropes such as grumpy/sunshine, but in the end we are talking about a real person. When certain information/opinions/controversies are coming to light about the player it effects the way some will look at said player and as a result about the comfort to engage with fan content about him. If we look about the dropping off of the ship Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews we can see it as a prime example for it. Patrick Kane is a controversial player with several instances during his career that lead to some massive 1988 purges of fics on ao3. But after finding out about what happened with Kyle Beach, the organization as a whole was impacted and for the first time Jonathan Toews was critized as well. So the controversies impacted the popularity of the ship and the amount of new fics being written about them.

Another example is Auston Matthews that I've seen his controversy lead to some stop writing about him. Just like finding about Jamie Benn's opinions lead to some to stop engaging in fan content about him. Of course there are many more examples.

The fourth aspect that I want to talk about is the evolving frienship between said players. As I talked about before some of those players got to play in the NHL and play on the same teams for literal years, even decades. I think that the driving force for starting a ship in general between two teammates, but more importantly maintaining the relavance of said ship, is their frienship. If we take this site for example, the gifs, fan edits, excerpts from interviews, answers from interviews of them talking about each other, looking lovingly at the other and more is some of the things that fuel the fandom going. Sometimes, if we see that through the years they aren't as tight or even actively gone through fights it discourages some from continuing writing about them. Personally, I think that out of this list the prime example for it is Jamie Benn/Tyler Seguin. As someone who started reading Hockey RPF from this ship I can assure you that the main reason for the impending dethroning of them from 3rd place is mainly for the fact that they aren't as tight anymore, which lead to less fics being written about them (of course we need to combine it with the declining popularity of Jamie Benn) .

As for the young ships I think that I am more interested with how long they will remain popular and relavant. I think that Nico Hischier/Jack Hughes is a great example for the ship that is starting to beat the test of time. I also want to put a link to a post about what factor in creation of a ship, because I think it is a prime example as to why Macklin/Will rose to popularity so quick as oppose to young players such as Connor Bedard that as a whole included in only 169 fics (romantically and as background character).

So to conclude, this is my personal opinions as to what goes into creating and remaining a popular ship. You can agree or disagree for this. I just had a lot of thoughts about it and wanted to share. Thanks for the original post for starting this discussion. Following the evolution of the fandom is interesting.

High School AU, where omega Jared is having a crush on his older brother's alpha friend Jensen. Unfortunately, he got the tendency to humiliate himself in front of Jensen.

Age Difference AU where Alpha Jensen is the principle of Jared's High School and the best friend of his older brother. Jared's is in love with him and want to be his mate, but he knows that it's hopeless.

Every omega, beta and alpha person have to be mated by the time that they turn 18. Alpha Jensen was able to sneak around and not get mated, but now his luck ran out and he mated with 18 year old omega Jared.

Leader pack Jensen rescue Jared from the turture of Mark Pallegrino. However, When the suppressants got out of his system, Jensen smelled him and knew that Jared is also his mate.

The world building in this story is really impressive.

Bonus Fic: -All I've Been Looking For, by deluxemycroft, 40,376 words

Technically it's not a J2 fic but I think it counts. With all of Jared's mental health hardship Jensen pretty much acted like Jared's alpha. So when Jared started to get close to alpha Stephen Amell, Jensen gets a little jealous.

I think this story tied down to all the weirdness of how close their frienship is. They aren't together, they don't see each other romantically, but it feels like they are together and lack real boundaries.

Alternate Universe- Dragons

-Two Cures for Love, by lizzywinks, 33,477 words

When Jensen was a little boy, he found an egg and took it into his home. Unbeknown to him, it was actually a dragon egg that burned down his house while hatching and flying away. His family didn't believe him and thought he burned the house himself. Now, 21 years later, the same dragon had returned in a shape of a human and wanting to court him.

This story is cute, and interesting in the world building. I liked their developing relationship.

As for a general edit for this show, this is a perfect edit. This show deals with literal kids trying to save the world, and with each passing season more and more kids get involved, and the seriousness of the situation grows. It isn't fun to talk and the trauma for the show runners, but the fans aren't afraid of it and have the different ways to

show and explore those traumas.

This video cotained only canon compliant segments. Combined with the song "I'm just a kid" who is filled with teenage angst and about how you are alone in the world. The song elevated and validated their experience.

On a more personal note, hearing this song was such a blast and nostalgic to me. And I still knew all the lyrics even though it's been a while.

The friendship between Steve and Robin is some of the best thing on the show. I love how they took a silly, borderline memable, song who fit perfectely with their dynamic.

My favourite part is how the line "Girls in bikiny are waiting for me" is accompanied Steve's little giggle before he tries to flirt in scoops ahoy.

Right of the bat I love the song choice, and she really did an excellent job with the editing to fit the words. I love how some lines are really on tune with the scenes- "His wife underwhelming cooking" along with the indignant look of Robin. "Some people really had to fight for survive and some people were white guys in 1985" along with Jonathan and Steve.

However the perfect lines were about how some people were living through the AIDS crisis and some people were Italian. Both of them goes perfectely with "Bisexual Steve Harrington" and "Italian Steve Harrington" respectfully.

Also the end of the song is just perfect. As someone whose father was 19 in 1985 and like Steve he is mostly dresses in polo shirts and the general style of Steve, I felt relatable. Also I thought it was fitting also for Joe Keery himself. In Kevin Pollak Chat Show he spoken about how Steve is reminding him of his dad, who was roughly the same age as Steve in the 80s and also dresses in a preppy style.

Eventually after tearing themselves apart the boys put mercy on the charachter and tell them how they don't need to choose just one of them, they can have both.

He knocked on the door one, as a warning, before he let himself in. He walks in to the perfect image of Steve, wearing his old gym shorts. This pair is short, and with a the position of Steve's leg, there are some hidden gems being reveiled. When Eddie raises his eyes a bit he balatedely realize that Steve is wearing his Dio vast. Since what happened with Vecna Steve didn't return the vast, and Eddie couldn't complain.

A watchmojo video ranking the top 10 sport injuries included Clint Malarchuk. This led me to search about him specific. This led me to watch compilation of hockey injuries. This led me to watching hockey compilation in general. This led me to search videos which explain the rules and slowly by slowly I started to get into hockwy.

As for the team I cheer for- Dallas Stars was because I started to watch Puck Personality. It was around 2016, and Tyler Seguin made me learn more about the Stars. After reading fan fiction about the team, I started to learn the names and dynamics of the group. And pretty early decided to choose them as my team.

In general I started to root and watch certain teams mainly because of certain players I liked.

For those of you who follow ColeyDoes Things on youtube may have seen her latest update "The BIGGEST fandoms on AO3". Getting the pleasant surprise of seeing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the tumbnail got me so excited.

I always pictured the fandom of Hockey RPF as a niche on AO3. This fandom got me into tumblr, AO3 along with reading fan fiction all together. I've been part of this fandom for the last 8 years. Hockey in general is a big part of my life. I had so many thoughts, so much knowledge and for years it was the only fandom I read fanfiction for.

I am so excited to see it part of the 20 top fandom on a site like AO3. I didn't expect seeing this fandom so high up, and I'm honestly so excited seeing the video beacuse right now I'm 28 minutes in the video and she's going through place #15 and she still didn't get to HOCKEY RPF and I'm astounded and so excited. I can't wait to find out their placement on the top 20 fandoms. And all through the video I can't wait to see her reaction to the top ships and tags.

Seein in #12 SPORTS RPF and knowing that technically HOCKEY RPF should be under this umbrealla but in actuality HOCKEY RPF usually tagged only under HOCKEY RPF I'm shocked. I know how technically in the last year or so there was a booming in the romance genre of Hockey Romance Books, but I'm not quite sure what it did to the popularity of Hockey on AO3. Plus, hockey is well known as the least popular sport out of the major legues of North America so I am so surprised to see how popular it actually is.

Now after RAVING about the superiority of HOCKEY RPF VS. SPORTS RPF, apparently I was fundementally wrong and got dissapointed.

I was sure that AO3 seperated each and every "sport's field" RPF as a seperated entoty and not logged them together. Through the whole video I was waiting for the moment of the fandom I was so excited about being talked about. With each fandom she would look at the top ships and characters. Through watching the video I was debating with myself about the top 10 pairings. It's been a while since I looked up the exact list. So I was under no impression that Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin would be the number one pair. But as for the others I debated with myself. Just for the fun of it the list I had in my mind who is based on my personal experience and on various post about the top main paieings of Hockey are:

After getting it out of the way. What happened in the video was- she read a bunch of pairing from different sports. Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin was in fact the number on pairings. Which was extra impressive when you take into account the different feilds of sports. But in fairness it seemed like Hockey RPF was one of the OG Sports RPF with continued audience. And as for those two they had the benefit of playing with each other close to 20 years.

Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews also made the list, at around number 5. It made me so happy. As someone who was a big reader for 1988 it made me so happy. Also Coley didn't know how to read Toews so she read it as TOE-EZ, and through my mind I thought "Patrick Sharp would be so proud". Also it rather fitting to accidently hit a major theme in many of the 1988 fics, especially the older ones.

She also had a big surprise to see Omegaverse as one of the main tags. As someone who adores omegaverse and specifically reading it with the context of sports RPF it didn't surprise me in the slightest.

It also made me really happy to see the second most kudoed fic being a Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin wedding day fic. Especially because I know I put it in my marked for later list and there is a podfic version of it with 5 hours lengh.

Even though it wasn't to the extent that I wanted to, I still enjoyed the video and seeing even the mention of some major pairings who I read many fics about, gave me joy.

Expectations

Nancy was divided between Steve and Jonathan. On the surface, Steve looked like the obvious choice with his popularity, athletic activities and fun outgoing attitude. She was attracted to him, she was charmed by him and appreciated his boldness. Nevertheless, she couldn't deny her fascination with the other omega. She couldn't put into words exactly what she thought about Jonathan.

Nancy waited for a while before she made her choice. Telling herself that she waited for a sign to show her the right path, where in factuality she waited for Jonathan to get his head straight and get her blaringly apparent implications for her wants.

When the polite omega didn't act on any of her offering, she got the massage loud and clear. Her being an alpha didn't mean she got the right to decide for the omega, no meant no and she had to accept it.

As a result, she got back together with Steve, and it felt like nothing ever changed. Steve would come by her locker every day. They would hold hands on their way to class. They would study together at the library or meet some place neutral (Steve would even steal kisses if they were someplace privately). They were happy and everything was normal.

Two months after their makeup, Steve's parents invited her to dinner. It was the official meeting with Steve's parents and she was nervous. In all honestly, she wanted to decline the invitation, however she knew she couldn't. She was an alpha who dated their omega son for the past few months they had to meet her and decide whether she was worthy of their son.

When she told her parents about the dinner invite, she got a lengthy chat about what to expect, how to act and what to say or not to say. She was nervous and felt like her parents blown the gesture out of proportions. She was just a sophomore, Steve was just a junior, they were too young to think about mating and marriage. It was the 80s, dating someone didn't mean you had to mate eventually.

Except, it seemed like it was exactly what Steve's parents were thinking. After a few polite questions about herself and her interests, his dad started to talk about her future. He asked her about college, asked her about her aspiring career. At first, she thought it was part of the general inquiry of the polite conversation to get a feel of her. Only to realize the true meaning of the survey once Steve's dad, the alpha of the family, asked her how she was supposed to support a family on a journalist's salary.

It felt like a slap to the face, yet she powered through and tried to remain civil as she answered the question. Agreeing about the low income of the career, while reminding Mr. Harrington about how a household contain of two people. Nancy thought she did a good job diplomatically answering the hard interrogation, even stealing a glance at Steve's pleased face. However, evidently it was the wrong possible way she could answer it. Mr. Harrington all but yelled at her about how she was the alpha at the house who was expected to care for her omega and children, as the omega should be a stay-at-home spouse caring for the children.

Nancy felt humiliated as Mr. Harrington shouted at her, acting like he had any right to dictate the way she can live her life and her future mate's life. She knew what she believed in, she knew how omega's rights advanced in the past 20 years. Times were changing, omegas weren't just a possession for an alpha, whose only job was to raise kids. Omegas could have a career now, and she was all for it. Hack, she thought that omega's rights had a few more fields to improve in, despite its honorary start.

Plus, hearing parents of a single omega son speak unabashedly about how little they cared about their son's future was depressing. Steve was grown up with only marriage and children as his future.

She was acutely aware of how any sort of retort from her could result in her relationship ending abruptly.  Besides she needed to figure out how much Steve himself aligned himself and his wishing to his parents' wishing. There wasn't a point to kick up a storm if their son wanted exactly what they were telling her. She needed to swallow her dignity for just this evening and go along with what Mr. Harrington was saying. Later, when she and Steve could talk privately, she'll find out if their relationship was even worth the fighting.

Steve did want marriage and children, yet he also mentioned wanting the freedom and permission to have a career as well. Nancy tried to downplay how relieved she was. She was pretty sure she was failing if judging by Steve's fond amusement. Still, she was really happy to note a possible future with Steve.

As Steve opened up to her about how he didn't want the relationship of his parents, didn't want to be treated like his mother, it gave her better understanding of Steve. She could see him in a different light, a better light. His repeated emphasis on respect, open communication and treating each other as equals (even if society didn't view them as such) painted a pretty clear picture of his wants. She was into this picture.

Nevertheless, she couldn't ignore one aspect Steve didn’t mention- higher education.

She didn't lie to Mr. Harrington. She saw herself attending college with a journalism major which subsequently led to a career in journalism. College was her next stop after high school. She couldn’t understand how Steve, who was a year older than her, couldn't think about his next step after high school as well. He already disagreed with his parents' proposed life trajectory, leaving college as the obvious next step then.    

Right than Nancy decided to help Steve academically. Steve needed to go to college. He needed to give an opportunity for a better future, not like his mom's. Plus, he was capable of going to college, with support and encouragement he would succeed.

Nancy and Steve kept dating, their relationship kept growing deeper and meaningful. She cherished their time together along with how he made her feel. Steve kept to his promises with the communication and the open affection. They would go out few times a week, not including their studying sessions.

The main drawback of their relationship remained his parents and their backwards believes. Most of their dates were in public places, but when they stayed at one of their houses 9 out of 10 times it would be Steve's. It made sense with him being an omega with traditional parents. Though it didn’t suck less. They weren't allowed to be at his room, sticking only to the dining room. Even there his parents would interrupt them constantly.

Still, it didn't light a candle against the times Mr. Harrington would take her to his study for "Alpha Talk". During those conversations Mr. Harrington interrogated her about her studies and suggest other professions beside journalism. As the duration of their relationship progressed and Steve finished junior year and waited for the beginning of his senior year, Mr. Harrington brought up mating and proposals into the mix. Nancy tried to remain strong and not show Mr. Harrington how much his words terrified her. She liked Steve, but they were still not ready for this kind of commitment. She always answered his questions in such vague terms to never commit herself to anything.

Privately at home, she felt the rope tighten around her neck. She liked Steve, she wanted to keep what they had going. Though she couldn't help the thoughts about ending it. She couldn’t handle his parents, she couldn't hear much more about how much children they ought to have or where they should have their wedding ceremony.

She tried to act the same around Steve, knowing he didn't do anything wrong. However, she still found herself drawing away from his suffocating affections more and more. Besides, shamefully, she found herself subconsciously reminiscing of another omega, along with how she got along with his family.  

Also, since the new school year begun, and Steve along with his parents mentioned a coming anniversary, she found herself thinking about another upcoming anniversary. An anniversary of a dear, wise friend which no doubt knew what to do instead of her.

Nancy didn't recall what she told Steve at the party. Nancy barely remembered something from last night. It killed her to see Steve barely hold himself and the barely concieled hurt. Some part of her yell at her to fix it up, tell him how she loved him. Except, she couldn't. She couldn't tell him that beforehand and she couldn't now.

He walked away and she stayed put.

It seemed like a breakup, but at the same time she wasn't sure. Sadly, she didn't know if she wanted to do anything to fix it up. She didn’t know if she could handle the expectations, she didn’t know if she should plant false hope into Steve.

Robin was a band geek for 3 out of the 4 years of Steve's basketball caceer. Meaning, she performed at his games and had a front row seat to everyone losing their shit over King Steve. Although, she would especially steal glances at a certain aspiring singer, who sat at the front row, right behind the home banch every home game.

Robin who was obsessed with Steve, trying to realize what he had that she didn't. He was shallow, he was stupid, he didn't galnce a second look at the prettiest girl who wanted to date the shit out of him.

However, deep deep inside, in the back of her mind, she low key came to appreciate King Steve. She came to appreciate his stupid little celebration after he scored. She was more and more impressed by his strenght as he insisted to carry the player which scored the game winning basket off the court at the end of the game. With no exception he was able to carry each and everyone of the team, showing just how strong he was.

Post season 3's Robin, who started to be friends with Steve, who started to call him dingus affactionately, who worked with him at another place after their stint at the mall. Robin who little by little started to share her little observations and thoughts about Steve, to Steve.

She would share with him her perspective of some of the big plays he had, memorized games, her observation of the crowd's and Tammy's reaction.

Robin who tentatively, after Steve positive reaction to her anecdotes, revieling that she went to his swim meets as well, even though band didn't cheer their tournamates. Robin talking about how Tammy would sit at her regular third row, in front of the pool's starting point. Robin sat three rows behind her, alternated her attention from the water to Tammy. Robin, who was taken away how agile and fast Steve could be in the water, while so present and physical during basketball games.

Post-season 3's Steve, who gained out of the mall a new friend. A best friend. Steve who was flattered by Robin's confessions. Who got a warm, happy feeling about knowing that Robin watched his sporting events. Robin gained respect for him, despite how he was at High School.

Steve, who after a while started to feel guilty and wrong footed about hearing Robin's memories of his. Knowing full well that Robin wasn't even at the back of his mind back then.

Steve, who started going through all of his recorded tapes of games or swim event of his at the house. Steve who desperately trying to spot a dirty blond figure at the background. Steve who only managed to find one 5 seconds short clip of him celebrating a basket, as Robin plays behind his shoulder. Stve who hold this clip and tape dear to his heart, trying to put into memory every little detail of Robin and the moment. Steve who tries to see this moment as proff that he and Robin shared the same school, the same space, the same class, even if he was too stupid to look beyond his King Steve era.

I had a little amusing thought about practically any NHL team deciding to have a team's celebration of passover (mayby there are some jewish players at the team, and they just made the playoff, so spirits are high).

However, instead of the traditional hiding the Afikoman, they decided to do what my family are doing- they strap to each of the kids' hips a piece of the Afikoman, and the kid needs to protect it from the adults who needs to steal it. If the kid succeeds till the end of the night, they won and basically it's the equivalent of finding the hidden Afikoman.

In my mind, once the jewish player/s ended explaining the concept, the players got amped up and wanted their own version of it. And that's how a bunch of over competitive adults, which play sports for a living started an intense night of 'steal the Afikoman'.

I know that I haven’t posted a fic rec for a while (I work on a mega fic rec at the moment, but between school and exams I don’t have much time or energy). But I thought I would do something different right now. I don’t know if it would be the most entertaining or comfortable, however that’s the best I could manage with the limitation of this site.

In general I think that there are so many tallented people on this site, and I am a big fan of seeing what people come up with. When it comes to hockey edits I salute my hat every single time. You need to think about the perfect song, the footage to pick from, think of the nerative. So, in order to show my appriciation, and to tell you some of my too detaled thoughts about it, I present to you this fic rec.

I put a link to every one of the videos, but in order to put them all in this one long post I didn’t use reblog. I hope that you still enter the links and read what I had to say about them.

What can I say, sometimes you just want to see players beating the shit out of each other while a romantic song is played in the background. Other than that, I love the disonance between the song and the vibe of it and the visual content. It crack me every time.

Plus, the fact that they are the last of a certain era of the team didn’t help.

The edit is good. But also I had to put it here, because if you read the rest of the post you will see how she posted a primer of Claude Giroux. And when I mean a primer I mean a detailed book, including pictures. about each and every stage of his career. This is unreal with how much this is good an an awsome reading. I will recommend it to everyone who is listening.

It short but it’s literally what he did.

-You’re the last of the real ones

This song just capsulate perfectly how we as fans sees him and his departure from the team. Players are humans, but sometimes we as fans see them as so much more, and we see them as those unatainable. However, at the same time they help us with ours lives. And I just think that she did such a good job with this song, and how she poposefully picked the upbit parts with the happy footage of Claude. Because that’s what it’s was all about, and he loved this team, and gave it his all. 

She mentioned it in her post, but also the fact that he was the last remaining peace of the old Flyers team, made him the last one. So with him gone, it’s literally not the same Flyers team anymore. And as a relatively new fan of the sport, recently is the faze where I need to deal with this phenomenon for the fist time.

And if the last vidoe showed the upbeat part of Claude Giroux, with this one she just hit me in the feeling. Claude went through the Flyers trading their captain, he’s been through the Flyers not knowing if they’d make a mistake to name him captain after what happend with Richards. But Claude showed them and to anyone who doubted him, how it was the right choice. And to see how it all just forgotten and they traded him regardless how he wanted to stay in this team for the rest of his career.

The lyrics that stood the most to me were “Who am I defending now?” because it showed perfectly how on one hand he capsulated this team and its image so much that when you think about the Philadelphia Flyers, you think about Claude Giroux. But on the other hand, now he no longer is part of the team. And the fact that he didn’t even have a cup to show for all those years, kind of put you on this inbetween place where you don’t know how to think about this team, this city that yo gave your life to it. That yo literally built your adult life in, and now you just need to leave and move on. Whether you want to or not.

this one is also on the more upbeat videos, but I really like the verse with the “While we fight”. Beacuse it really shows the relathionship between Claude and management. Plus the song brings up the constant scale (that we as fans like to forger sometimes) between “This is the team, and this is how fun they are” to “Hockey is a besnuess and we need to look at the numbers, regardless of the player”.

And if all the other Claude Giroux videos gave me feelings, this one is the one that made me ugly cry more times than I could count on.

This video is just amazing. It shows how the cycle is always reapiting itself, sometimes it’s abrupt and sometime it takes some time, but in the end it always repeats itself; It also show how as players grow old their place in the legue, in their team, gets questioned time and time again. Despite the fact that they could still be producing, or can have an integral part of the team. And especially when it came to Claude Giroux, it’s really showed how despite him wanting to stay, it didn’t matter. and the fact that the team as a whole had a meltdown didn’t matter, it was easy to blame it on the captain.

And on a more personal note. I didn’t heard this song before. And it wrecked me to hear it, especially the part about “How can a person know everything at 18, but nothing at 22?” I mentioned it on a different fic rec, but I enlisted to the army of my country when I was 18. And in highschool I was very optimistic about this and thought that I knew I it would go. But after I enlisted I found out it was nothing like I imagined it to be. So last year, as I literally was 22 and had to figure out my life after the worst 3 years of my llife, this song just hit me in the feelings. I know that you didn’t really sign up for this rambling, but I had to talk about it, because that’s why this edit have a special place in my heart. Because it’s not just the nerative and the emotional song that hit me.

This video is so good. It’s the perfect song. It got the right hype to it, but also when you think about it it shows how lighning and thunder are always together and you can’t have the one without the other. And I think she showed it really well at the video, especially with the line “I was lightning before the thunder”. I also love how she showed the fact that one of them came before the other, but in general how they came at the same time.

I like to see movies and tv shows, and always when there was the one charachter that her all personality was “I dropped out after one semested of college, and now everyone think that I’m a stuck up wanna be intellectual”, I had a chuckle out of it. But only now, when half of my first semester of my degree is behind me, do I really understand why this character trope exist. So have I find myself trying to explain so many things from my sarrounding using my barely esteblished knowledge from my entry level courses.
