so i was listening to bad habits by steve lacy and was like "damn i wanna write a 2003 teen titans dick grayson x fem reader now"

A/N- first post and story, wish me luck yall

You and Dick have been teammates and best friends since the Teen Titans were formed. But after you both shared your first kiss, things got complicated. You were stuck in a position where you both liked each other, but didn't want to admit it. Eventually you met a real nice guy at a cafe, went on a couple dates, and got together. It wasn't anything serious, you both just needed someone to bide your time with.

You and Dick were sitting in your room, hanging out and talking with a some banter here and there, giggling at dumb stuff. You loved these moments with him. Just enjoying each other's presence.

"I'm gonna go get a cup of water, want anything?" He offered.

"No, I'm good, thanks." You answered.

He left the room, leaving you with your thoughts. You started to reflect, thinking about how much you appreciated Dick. You have never felt this way with your boyfriend before, or anyone for that matter.

He returned, with such a contagious smile giving you no option but to smile back.

"Hey, so anything new with your boyfriend?" He questioned you as he sat on the other side of your bed.

"Not much, he's nice but.." You cut yourself off,

"Remember the time we had our first kiss?" You said, giggling.

You saw his face flush red,

"You're turning red!" You pointed out, laughing at his reaction.

He let out a small chuckle before responding,

"Yeah I remember, how could I forget that dare?"

"Y'know, I had this huge crush on you, (Name)" He confessed.

You felt your face getting hot.

"I really liked you too." You shocked yourself with your response.

"I wish I knew you wanted me."

It was quiet, not much crime going on in Jump City. You were patrolling the outskirts of the city, still dumbfounded at the fact that he liked you back.

Was it possible he still liked you? Do you even like him? What about your boyfriend? Are you even in love with your boyfriend? Does he still want to be with you?

Back in the tower, you were kept up by your thoughts. You laid in your bed thinking about Dick.

You confirmed with yourself,

You love him.

The following day, you met with your boyfriend at the same cafe you met.

"Hey Y/N, what did you need to talk to me about?" He asked you.

You felt really bad about this, but you felt too attracted to your best friend.

"I don't think we're good together." You swiftly confessed.

To your shock, he was glad.

"That's such a relief," He admitted.

"Huh? What do you mean?" You asked in shock.

"I wanted to break up for a week now, I just found out I was attracted to men, but I felt guilty for wanting to end things."

You both chatted a bit more, before ending things on a good note.

Returning to the tower, you approached Robin's bedroom. As you knocked on the door, you felt your stomach doing backflips. He answered the door, and let you in.

"Hi."

"Hey." He smiled

He let you in, then sat on his bed before asking,

"What's up?"

He was grinning, that boyish grin you always loved. You sat beside him, preparing yourself for what you're about to say.

"Y'know how I had a crush on you back then?" You asked him.

"Well, I still like you." You said, your face getting hotter with every second he doesn't respond.

Still stunned, he asks about your boyfriend.

"We actually just broke up, but it was.. mutual. Turns out he was into men." You explained

"Ah,"

"I really hope it's not too late for us." You said, with worry in your voice.

Dick got up and stood in front of you, taking your hands.

"It's never too late for you." He said, pulling you in close.

You were inches away from him, a smile on your face before saying,

"That's such a relief, I guess I just never wanted to admit I loved you." You admitted.

You got closer before your lips gently crashed. His left hand holding your cheek, you separated before leaning in for a second kiss. You pulled away from him, holding his hands once again.

"What if this was just a dare again?" You teased.

"Don't play with me like that," He said smiling, as he leaned his head against your shoulder.

He was right. It really was never too late.
