PETA Asia again went undercover and found monkeys still chained on coconut farms. The coconut industry and the Thai government are doing virtually nothing to address this problem despite retailers around the world cutting ties with Thai brands. Monkey schools are still in operation “training” monkeys into this abusive industry and an investigator attended a coconut picking competition that publicly displayed monkeys forced to climb poles to entertain guests.   A farmer told investigators that he would be willing to transition away from monkey labor, however, he hasn’t received any support from brands nor the government to make the change.    An investigator spoke to a man who works at coconut farms. He suggested that monkeys can be bought without registration despite permits being required by law before anyone can own a monkey in Thailand.   Investigators spoke to a farmer who uses monkey labor and he said that @chaokoh_uk, a coconut brand that sells internationally, audited their area.
