how was watching Turandot at 4am?

I enjoyed it! Well I enjoyed watching the opera and listening to the music! Doing it at 4am, I was a little dead on my feet the next day from staying up so late lol, Nessun Dorma indeed haha XD

I think my top two favorite songs from the opera were Nessun Dorma (no surprise haha) and my second favorite was Fermo! Che fai? T'arresta. I liked the music though I'm definitely no expert on opera or any technical stuff in regards to music lol. The lyrics for Nessun Dorma is beautiful and you can really feel the yearning! I also liked the song where the three court officials are just so done and tired of having to arrange funerals and are just like 'I want to go home to my nice house instead of being here at work planning another damn event'. I too would be tired of planning a wedding that never happens or having to arrange like the 20th funeral when I could be at home lol

(Yeah the orientalist aspects were not great but also I knew that already going in so I was already prepared for it being there and my expectation of an old Italian guy's idea of what he thought China was like were already low so it didn't blindside me or anything)

I do find it interesting that since Puccini died before he could complete the ending, each production's ending is always potentially different. Overall I would say I don't regret staying up so late watching it haha, my next opera that I will probably check out is Carmen. I know some songs from it already just cause it's so iconic, but I've never actually seen it in it's entirety but I'll be watching a recording of it online (one day I will hopefully get to see it live but for now most operas I see will have to be from recordings people have uploaded cause opera tickets are kind of expensive especially for bigger productions)

It's a pretty easy question to answer on why Starscream would love Skyfire, but why do you think Skyfire would love Starscream? :0

I think there are potentially multiple reasons Skyfire would/could love Starscream. I think it also depends on continuity as well. I would like to preface that I’m still pretty new to the transformers fandom and there's a lot of content I haven't read/watched so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Now I'd like to disclaimer that these are mostly just my personal delulu opinions and self indulgent headcanons lol.

One of the things I imagine Skyfire would admire about Starscream is his ability to dream big. And not just dream big, but have the drive to go from motive to means. To do everything in his power to reach his goals and see them become reality. And to keep trying to reach these goals even if he initially fails. For example, Starscream in G1 despite multiple failures he still tries time and again to kill Megatron and become leader. In TFOne although he’s pretty cynical about things he still shows similar signs of that ‘refuse to give up on goals’ drive, in this case revenge against Sentinel as even though the High Guard are facing terrible odds (exiled, being hunted down by both Sentinel and Quintessons, facing the dangers of the surface, and no energon flowing meaning there’s probably a lack of food) he hasn't given up in 50 cycles of terrible conditions.

And even though shattered glass is a mirror world, sg!Starscream is still Starscream and is described as talkative/melodramtic/vain/ etc and I think we can gather from parts of his portrayal that he shares this trait of having big dreams and ambitions with his and Jetfire's goal to get funding for researching the Titan and also in the way he fights for the shattered glass Decepticon's cause dreaming of what he believes is a better world. And no matter the overwhelming odds against his goals in many different continuities if he really wants it/aims for it he keeps working at it (for better or worse) whether he fails or succeeds he persists. And I think seeing someone refusing to back down and give up on their goals can be inspiring to see. To keep trying despite failure is in my opinion one of the bravest things you can do. I think Skyfire sees that boldness and drive in Starscream and would find it both beautiful and inspiring.

I think Skyfire is a lot less confrontational. Not that he’s a major pushover as I think that when it really matters he’s got a spine of steel and stands his ground when it comes to his core principles. However, I think he leans toward avoiding conflict if he deems it not worth it or necessary. In some ways Starscream is the "he asked for no pickles' partner who would tell Skyfire he should never settle for less than what he deserves and is owed. I think Starscream inspires Skyfire to dream bigger. I think Starscream encourages and inspires him to shoot for the stars and go for big dreams. I think Skyfire is as much of a dreamer as Starscream, but that he thinks logically/realistically maybe some dreams aren't as probable and is less likely to 'go for it' the way Starscream would. In this way I think he admires that about Starscream because I think at times he wishes he could be like that and Starscream would be the one to tell him 'why not? Why not work toward that goal if it's what you want?'.

I think in this way Starscream's stubbornness is actually something that can be a source of frustration, but also something he loves about Starscream as well. I think Skyfire loves the way Starscream can blaze a trail towards his goals regardless of the opinions of others. That the world could tell Starscream his dreams are impossible/wrong and Starscream would stubbornly tell the rest of the world to fuck off and keep working toward his goal despite the doubts of others. In this way, I think Skyfire admires that persistence and it makes Skyfire himself bolder in working towards goals that he believes in, but are seen by others as unrealistic.

And in continuities where they are both scientists I think they bond well on an intellectual level where Skyfire gets to nerd out with someone who gets what he is talking about with all the scientific jargon. Also I think he likes that Starscream is talkative and probably carries a lot of the conversation in a way that feels comfortable. Very yapper and listener dynamic that works for them, but also in a way that Skyfire can also at times yap about his scientific interests and have an equally enthusiastic partner listen to his theories lol. So in summary I think Skyfire would love Starscream for his fiery personality, his passion in all he does, his ambitious nature, his cunning intellect, and his ability to dream big and inspire Skyfire to do the same. He's Skyfire's shining Star :)

Thank you!! It makes me happy to hear that other people like them! My AUs are often very self indulgent and I feel like I'm usually very unserious/silly about them a lot of the time haha, but I am glad you enjoy them! Tarnma just has so much potential and range that you can play around with them in so many different possible ways which is a lot of fun!

No War Tarnma AU where Damus is a Health and Safety Inspector and his favorite hospital to inspect is Pharma’s hospital facility because it’s always up to code since Pharma is both a perfectionist and a bit of a control freak who runs a tight ship. Damus is internally like 'thank you for making my job easier' and he also likes that he gets to talk to the pretty doctor in charge of the place when he visits. I also think he’s a dork and a bit of an idiot who doesn’t know how to get closer/ask out Pharma so he decides to use the inspections as an excuse to see him.

Damus doing the maximum number of inspections legally possible, meanwhile Pharma is convinced Damus is out to get him specifically just waiting for the moment when Pharma will slip up because apparently it’s only his hospital that’s getting this treatment. Why else would he issue so many inspections?!

Damus, sending flowers to Pharma in an effort to woo him, with a signed card that says he’ll see him soon: This will definitely convey the message that I appreciate both his work and enjoy his company! It’s perfect!

Pharma, looking at the beautiful crystal flower arrangement that was sent to his office: He’s mocking me! That smug piece of scrap, I’ll show him!

Poor First Aid and Ambulon are suffering because if even one thing is out of place, Pharma will bite their heads off both because he has high expectations of them, but also because he’s in some weird competition with the local Health and Safety Inspector.
