Every single fic update there is an author trying frantically to find the right balance between a nonchalant aside of "leave a comment if you enjoyed =)" and clinging desperately to the coat tails of a random stranger, dragging along behind them on the street wailing "Please, please! I'm in a mood to put SnowGriff in every Targaryen era in a time/body regression sort of deal, and let them mess up the historical timeline for -- what they *think* will lead to Targaryen supremacy/restoration -- but are sort of making things worse?

I woke up from a thought for SnowGriff where Aegon is a doting and protective older brother to Jon/f!Jon. The sort who wouldn’t let a fly so as much look at Jon’s direction.

Then they have kids and it’s Jon who’s the protective parent while Aegon would like, yeet their kid into a river or smth. And Jon stands on the corner, brain not working but also freaking out bcs that is a two week baby, Aegon wtf ???

The other thing about Alyssa being depicted in the show: my girl didn't have the classic Targaryen beauty, she had hetochromia so she needed a purple eye and a green one, dirty blonde hair (not silver), big ears, a long face, AND her nose was crooked from a time when she broke it in childhood. All that going on and Baelon was still wild about her and only her. Viserra thought she could seduce Baelon because her beauty was far greater than Alyssa's but nope!

But I suppose if Alys is sending these dreams like I suspect she's going off of what she thinks a Targaryen princess would look like.

Alternatively, it’s also why there are a lot of abandoned WIPs even if a story gets hundreds or thousands of kudos and/or comments bcs it isn’t about public validation. 😀

Reader can be like, “I need more of this,” but the author is already in the “I have seen the end of this and I am satisfied with the scenes playing in my head” phase. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They say you should make art for yourself, but the folks writing long-form fic on AO3 where the last reader comment was thirty-five chapters ago and they're still updating every week like clockwork are putting that into practice in ways I can only dream of.

The stuggles of being a writer.

A shame that I have to actually finish my book before I get to read it. I enjoy writing it just as much but I am looking forward to finishing my first book and getting to read through it, even if I do know what's going to happen.
