I just love this guy's design. I love animal races, but in a very platonic way. This art just makes him even more gorgeous.

The Mask-Maker // Demon Tribes AU Supplemental Lore (Ch 04)
Long post incoming, but I'll try to keep myself from getting too long-winded. The following is supplemental lore for each of the Five Demon Tribes of Ikana, but it will not contain spoilers.
You are more than welcome to use any of the additional lore I've created for this AU - some of these demons/magic correlate loosely to Zelda canon (Twili) and some of them are mostly original (Igo), but most of them are a mix of the two (Malice, Boko, Massu, etc).
The history of Ikana is not elaborated upon, but its only canon appearance is as a husk of its former self in Majora's Mask. It is described then as a dying land, one which was filled with warring people. For The Mask-Maker, I've decided to use an ancient version of this land to represent the Demon Tribes who warred with the ancient people of Hyrule, resulting in the events of Skyward Sword.
Tumblr media
The Massu-Kana
Demons within this tribe are traditionally adept with Alchemy - they take raw materials from the environment, infuse them with Magicka, and create useful potions. They are well-known for their discovery of rare spiritual materials such as Gratitude Crystals. In spite of their terrifying appearance, Massu often take up positions of doctoring or research rather than battle. As such, they tend to have respectable reputations. Humans sometimes refer to the Massu as "Bull Keese". Physical Traits: Large horns, bat-like wings, long claws. Skin tones vary in a wide range, similar to the Boko (red, blue, green, onyx, silver, gold.) In Ikanan, Massu can mean either "ox" or "burden-carrier" depending on context.
Creation Note: Massu comes from the Assyrian protective deity known as Lamassu, who sometimes was depicted with the horns and ears of a bull.
Tumblr media
The Boko-Kana
These demons do not have a niche involving Magicka, and are in fact quite bad at both its use and resistance. They make up for it with resourcefulness and adaptability. Their shapes are highly variable due to this - it is said you can find a Boko thriving in any environment, and this is the reason they have persisted throughout centuries. They are builders, engineers, and creatives all at once. But their weak spiritual resolve often causes their minds to falter in the face of powerful evil auras. Humans have referred to these demons generally as Goblins, but have come up with many different names for their forms. Physical Traits: Highly variable, but often have wild pig or bat-like aspects. Skin tones vary in a large range (red, blue, green, onyx, silver, gold.) In Ikanan, Boko means "change" or "shift."
Tumblr media
The Igo-Kana
Demons from this tribe specialize in Mirage-Weaving - they use their Magicka to create complex illusions to hide behind. They do not like being looked upon. They are excellent mimics and will often copy a face they've seen before by attaching their spell to a mask, however, mimicking too closely can have detrimental effects on the mind of the subject. They are somewhat rare in Ikanan society due to their tendency to hide in plain sight. Humans sometimes refer to these demons as "Face-Snatchers". Physical Traits: Pale irises, striped skin. Skin tones often tend towards non-human muted colors, and are ghostly or ashen. May or may not have horns. In Ikanan, Igo means "face" or "identity".
Tumblr media
The Twili-Kana
This Tribe utilizes Hexcraft - they use their Magicka to cause negative effects by binding it to curses, conditions, and contracts. They thus have a poor reputation amongst other Ikanans and are generally rumored to be unlucky. In spite of this, their spells are commonly used in Ikanan society, especially in legally-binding agreements. They often take up positions as Court Wizards and other such government officials. Humans sometimes refer to these demons as "Shadow Casters" or "Wizzrobes".
Physical Traits: Bright warm-colored eyes, asymmetrical markings. Skin tone often tends towards non-human cool colors such as blue. Often do not have horns. In Ikanan, Twili means "shadow".
Tumblr media
The Gerra-Kana
Finally, these demons are well-known for their use of Malice - they use their Magicka to invoke spiritual flames that can be used to both destroy or animate objects. The Gerra are unusual in that they use their jagged scales to improvise or forge weaponry. After Gerra age into the centuries, their scales may become too numerous and calcified to shed easily. Humans sometimes refer to these demons as "Firedrakes", due to their scales having similar properties to Dragon Scales and their propensity to use fire.
Physical Traits: Dark irises, diamond-scaled skin dependent on age. Skin tone often tends towards non-human warm colors and grays. Often do not have horns. In Ikanan, Gerra means "radiant" or "warmth".
Creation Note: Gerra or Girra comes from the Babylonian god of fire.

Giraffe divine beast because it's sooooo majestic.
You know. I know adding more stuff at this stuff would be too much and all, plus it showcases how capable he is.
But I would kill to know what Four’s dark world form is like. No matter what, it’d be so funny. Something small, something big, a mouse or a cat or a fucking elephant.
Just. Twilight-assign everyone in the chain a fursona.

Oh wow, hadn't thought of that. Daily reminder for him that he has no shadow or reflection. I want both. Four is just a vampire now without Shadow.
huge fan of the "four had no shadow" hc, but please consider:
four has no reflection.

MAJORLY upset. I wait four years for Digimon Survive and then they finally give some info on the story line and it involves death? My TRIGGER? Are you kidding me!?! That description about what digimon are in this game leads me to believe I'm going to end up triggered a lot playing this game. I've waited so long for this and now I'm unsure if it's wise for me to play it.
It's been a long time since the last game was released and I already platinum trophied Digimon World: Next Order. I suppose I could replay the two cyber sleuth games...for the third time. When they said it was a game that was darker and "aimed towards adults." This wasn't what I had in mind. I don't need a killer headache from sobbing my eyes out and depending on how it's handled, have a panic attack. Digimon was something I grew up with and cherished. Something soothing to me when I feel so alone. If games didn't cost so much then it wouldn't be such a big deal to TRY it. I am but a poor peasant.
Everyone seems so excited for this game and I feel so alienated.
I'M BEGGING FOR SOMEONE TO TELL ME I'M WRONG.

May back off tumblr for a while since the new update. Since how the Four Sword's ability was described I feel...eh conflicted and KNOW I can't say anything one way or another without it being akin to being thrown into a shark tank. Everyone online always seem to be super eager to rip someone to shreds. People love to hate. One starts it and mob mentality takes over. People aren't allowed to have opinions different from someone else now a days.

Speaking of chronic illnesses, can empathy and the ability to love endlessly be one please? I accidentally hurt my cricket friend from a really dumb attempt to try and help him. I don't know if he's going to survive, but I've been SOBBING and having panic attacks all day until I gave up at one point and took clonazepam and still feel immense shame, guilt, and regret. I would never hurt him on purpose. I swear. I love that little guy. Crickets can be aggressive towards other crickets and he's been a sweet, little, passive, far too trusting, little guy his entire life. I've had him since he was very young. He was freezing to death in the garage last year as crickets do. He has had near complete trust in me and I feel like I broke it and may have killed him. I can't live with myself. Whatever happens I can't live with myself. I'd ask for help, but I'm spiraling and no one can save me at this point. He's estimated at around 9 months old. I do NOT want him to leave this world because of ME.
How does one even apologize and repent for something so terrible? Don't ask the details on how he got hurt because you don't want to know. And I'm too ashamed to tell. He's still drinking water and able to walk around. He's jumped a couple times when he had enough of me fussing over him. I feel like Red (Four) on steroids emotion wise.
I love my cricket Dip. He's my little Dippy.

I know a lot of people headcanon Four getting migraines from the colors arguing and I think it's NEARLY perfect.
EXCEPT-
-Considering a migraine is caused by dilation of the veins in the head it doesn't make sense. Like how are the colors making the veins dilate? I know people run to migraine cause, "oh wow migraines are the most intense." Nah man, cluster headaches I hear are.
Major thoughts and rambling incoming. If you like wasting your time over thinking your favorite fictional characters then hey I'm not alone. I'm gonna word vomit my thoughts with no filter.
Uh right so anyway, ever hear of an ice pick headache? They are incredibly painful. So much so that the ones I've had cause me to jerk forward unintentionally. The body maybe trying to futilely get away? I dunno, anway what if it lasted longer than seconds? Actually, never mind I'm certain someone would lose their mind if it lasted too long.
What was I talking about? Oh right the colors and headaches. A tension headache or a neck ache can be very painful. You don't have to jump to severe pain levels to show someone suffers. Prolonged severe pain can cause personality changes and we don't need another Legend...or do we?
Anyway, I'm just saying that people shouldn't jump to the most severe type of something to show suffering, angst, or chronic illness. If one of the Links got frequent migraines they wouldn't be alive because try having thought processes during a bad migraine. A battle with a migraine? You kidding me? I drove during a migraine once and almost got in a car accident. I'll never drive during a migraine again.
I love representation and all, but if someone wrote a fictional character with terrible autonomic dysfunction and was like and they battled gloriously and won. I'd be like psh so fake. You can't battle with low blood pressure. That's the exact reason I got insulted by Fire Force and abruptly stopped watching it. I was like now you're making it sound like us PoTsies are lazy. Am I sensitive? Absolutely! I'm pretty DANG positive that anyone super disabled by an invisible chronic illness kept being told they're lazy or don't try hard enough.
I love all of you who struggle every day. You are amazing. Sometimes just getting out of bed is an accomplishment. Aaand this ended up becoming a rant in the middle of the night about chronic illnesses and how people with them tend to get judged.
Only character I know of that has chronic pain and it's simultaneously realistic and unrealistic is Deadpool. Humor IS coping mechanism. Also, being in too much pain for too long can and likely will make a person want to die. Unfortunately for Deadpool he can not. Deadpool is a very fascinating take on a strong character that suffers from chronic illness.
Feel free to use this useless post to contemplate the implications of fictional characters and different chronic illnesses. And absolutely feel free to educate others on your experiences with one..or two or three of them. Cause no one just gets ONE chronic illness. Nah, they like potato chips.

Simple picture edit for MuricanStoryTeller's The False Hero on Ao3. You made my brain do a thing. I have no clue how you have Shadow's hair exactly in the story but your description brought this to mind.

Awesome picture!
Bugs are fascinating! Look up cicada anatomy, or whatever insect or arachnid your drawing. Bugs have their legs attached the same. They have this first part that has super limited movement that you will almost never see as it is against the body. I marked it in the picture. These are seen when the insect has a bit of the bottom of their abdomen showing. Insect legs are really just normal legs with the added piece against the body. They aren't so bad if you break them down.
