Pet peeve: when people say “migraine isn’t just a headache” then say “because when I get a migraine I feel like my brain is being crushed by a truck and also stabbed with an icepick” like. You just described a headache. That’s a pain in your head. That’s a headache. A very, very bad headache, but a headache. There’s no threshold where pain in your head stops being a headache. The reason migraine is more than just a headache is because of the other symptoms that can accompany it— sensory sensitivities, brain fog and fatigue, nausea, aura, prodrome/postdrome symptoms, etc. Headache is just one of many migraine symptoms, and you can still have migraine even if your headaches aren’t particularly severe (there are even some types of migraine that come without headaches at all)

A quick sketch comic about Jean's recurring cluster headaches bc I get them also. I think it would definitely affect his ability to work considering how hard it is to function or even speak/see when these take hold for days at a time. (Also fun fact for those who aren't familiar with cluster headaches, often your eye will turn pink and swell up as it starts to water and you'll start to cry and sniffle and salivate for no reason. Hence why his eye looks like that.)

If there's anything I'd like people to take away from this Migraine Awareness Month its

that a migraine isnt a severe headache

It's a complex neurological disorder

Its a cascade of neurological activity in an over sensitised brain, the main symptom of which is usually a severe headache.

It is disabling, especially when it's chronic (15 days a month, at least 8 of those with migrainous symptoms, for over 3 months)

I KNOW that Elrond got those headaches from Gil-galad I just know it deep within my bones. My delusional self hopes we get to see Gil-galad have one of those headaches in S3, would be even funnier if Elrond was the reason.

oooooooooh my fucking god

So I've dealt with tension headaches for a while now. I keep asking my doctor about them and he orders blood work and nothing comes up and then I ask again and he orders more blood work. It's whatever I'm too busy to deal with it right now. I've just been taking over the counther pain meds.

Only today, I get a different type of headache and I'm like "wtf am I dying???" and so I look up different headaches and come upon one that's called an Medication Overuse Headache. "well surely that's not me, I've never really over used my pain meds, I wait a full 4 hours between doses" but it's like "oh if you use pain meds for more than 15 days in a month you could develop this."

So the pain meds I take for my headaches

what am I supposed to do die? I have so much shit I have to do and these headaches are making it impossible to work :(

If anyone has any advice I'm open to it...

Hey @thebibliosphere or someone else who might have knowledge on this,

I keep hearing on social media about daith piercings fixing people's migraines. But when I try to look it up all of the official sources say no research suggests that it's anything more than a placebo effect. But when I try to find research on it, Im only finding case studies of individual patients where it did work or worked for a while before reverting back, and 1 overarching article that looked at nearly 200 articles on the subject and only found 3 that fulfilled the requirements to be included leading to the conclusion that not enough research existed to make a recommendation for or against it.

So, I was wondering if you or one of your followers or something might know more about this?

The way ppl gatekeep migraines is actually so harmful. I didn't think I had them bc everyone always told me "if you aren't actively vomiting & in excruciating pain you don't have migraines, it's just headaches" until I actually saw a neurologist & she clocked me as a migraine haver almost instantly, and the fucking triptans work much better than anything else I've ever tried.

There are many different variations of migraines and they aren't all the auras, vomiting & sharp piercing pain ones. You can even have migraines with no headaches.

Jaskier's head often hurts. He doesn't always tell Geralt, but Geralt catches him putting a hand to his forehead and wincing in pain. Jaskier will sometimes lose days of songwriting inspiration, or time for hobbies, because when he and Geralt aren't moving down the path, Jaskier will lay in his bedroll writhing in pain and groaning at how unfair life is. Geralt at first thought Jaskier was exaggerating his pain, as Jaskier tended to be dramatic. When Geralt hinted at this though, Jaskier looked at him with such a hurt expression that Geralt panicked his way into somehow saving the conversation. The very next winter, Geralt asks Lambert, who is much better with potions and the like, to help him make some sort of pain remedy. They test and experiment all winter, before they finally make on they're both happy enough with to send off that spring. Geralt and Jaskier have been reunited for two weeks when Jaskier reaches a hand up and rubs one side of his face, with particular amounts of pressure and care given to his eye and brow. Geralt fishes around in his bags before holding it out to Jaskier. "...What is this?" "The only potion I have safe for humans. Ask me for it, never dig it out yourself, it looks similar to some of the others." "What does it do, Geralt?" "It should help. With... With the pain." Jaskier shoots out sad scents. That wasn't what Geralt expected from his gift. "I'm sorry, Geralt! I didn't mean to slow us down so much! I can work through it! i can keep walking!" Geralt explains he doesn't want Jaskier to "work through it", he wants Jaskier to not be in pain and to be happy. Jaskier, growing up as a busy young viscount, apparently was told to push through and continue with his schoolwork and duties, no matter how bad the migraine. Geralt assures his bard that all Geralt wants is Jaskier's happiness, and Jaskier drinks the potion. Merely twenty minutes later and Jaskier was bouncing around and singing again. He liked seeing his bard not be in pain.

Anon only recently learned that this is a thing, even though they've had ice cream many times. Apparently brain freeze is more common in North America for genetic reasons, according to this article.

can you get headaches after sexual activites such as masturbation or partnered sex? i've noticed this is a really common thing for me

Absolutely! It's especially common for those who already struggle with chronic headaches/migraines.

It's more frequently attributed to orgasming specifically, not just sex but it happens with both. A lot of people get headaches from physical activity in general and its fairly common for that to carry over to sex.
