I'm a man of the people + I love enemies to lovers so sure! This is gonna take place post-PC (Pirate's Curse) cause that kind of feels like when it'd be at it's strongest.

Anyways enough yapping. Let's go!

Risky Boots. The infamous Queen of The Seven Seas. Soon-to-be Ruler of Sequin Land (both self-proclaimed). And most importantly, nemesis of Shantae.

Had a crush... ON HER ENEMY?!

Yeah. She never thought she'd feel this way towards.. well, about anyone. Let alone her number 1 annoyance!

To make matters worse, Risky was PAINFULLY aware of her feelings. She.. never ALWAYS liked the half-genie. The first time they went at each other, she literally threatened her with a gruesome death. And then the time came where she stole Shantae's magic and created Nega Shantae, forcing the heroine to destroy HER OWN MAGIC to stop it.

But as of recently, they were forced to join forces with one another to defeat Risky's old mentor. And during the journey, the Pirate Queen found herself falling in love with her temporary ally. Even if she had been able to put on a mask to hide her feelings.

And now, it's been a month since she and Shantae defeated the Pirate Master. A month since she attacked Scuttle Town. A month.. since she's seen Shantae.

....Risky missed her.

"?" The sound of a Tinkerbat knocked the purple-skinned woman out of her trance. Ah right. She had nearly forgotten about her bath. She had been in there for about.. 3 hours?! Sheesh. Where did the time go?

And what was that half-genie runt doing now?

Shantae was having a discussion with Sky. It wasn't like her to have THESE kinds of conversations but this was important. And being the genie's best friend, Sky was more than happy to oblige.

There, the young heroine confined some info she had been with-holding from others. Even her Uncle. First and fore-most, she learned of her atttaction to other women. Second and most importantly. The half-genie had a crush.

On fucking Risky Boots.

Now, Sky wasn't one to judge off preferences or whatever, she didn't really care about that sort of thing. But.. the idea of Shantae being in love with her enemy made her feel concerned for 2 reasons.

1: Heartbreak. Risky likely didn't feel the same way.

2: Abuse. Even if Risky liked Shantae back, Sky feared her best friend would be walking into a toxic and harsh relationship. That pirate was already NOT a good person in the slightest so the idea of her being a good lover was already crossed out in her mind.

"Well.. I'd lying if I said I expected this of all things," Sky's words made Shantae's heart race a bit in anxiety, but that was quickly put to her rest with her next words. "But I suppose it's not the most outlandish thing I've heard come out of your mouth. And hey, so long as you feel comfortable with it, I say it's alright."

The purple haired woman wasted no time, bringing Wrench's Mistress in for a tight hug. "THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU-" She endlessly thanked while squeezing her friend's torso. "T-tight!" Sky complained, making Shantae nervously giggle and release.

Taking a split second to rub her spine, Sky spoke again, "Listen. Are you certain about your attraction?" She asked, confusing the Genie Guardian. "Eh? Y-yeah I'm confident I like other women-"

"No. I meant your attraction to.. HER."

"Oh. R-right." Shantae giggled slightly. "Well.. I've had long enough to think about it. And I'd say yeah. I think I have actual feelings for Risky." She stated. Much like her nemesis, Shantae had also felt a sense of longing for Risky Boots during the course of their travels. The whole reason she had even asked the Pirate Queen if she'd consider joining the good side was because she feared her feelings getting in the way of future encounters.

Sky let out a soft sigh. "Alright. If you say so. Just.. promise me you'll stay safe ok? If she treats you badly, tell me and I'll show her what-for." She told Scuttle Town's Guardian, getting another giggle as a result. "Yeah. Don't worry, I'll make sure I'm not confining myself to a terrible relationship." The genie assured, a light smile appearing on her friend's face as a result. "Good. Now I have to tend to my birds, but if you need more advice, you know who to talk to."

..."But didn't your last relationship-"

"WE DON'T TALK ABOUT BARRACUDA JOE!"

Later

Shantae spent the remaining day giving the news out to her allies of her new-found attraction. Mimic was glad to see her being confident in her identity. Bolo was surprised but ultimately respectful. Rotty claimed to have always known that she was attracted to girls. Did she actually? ....It's Rottytops. Who honestly knows.

And now, it was night-time. Mid-night to be exact. And the half-genie found herself outside, still in her usual attire. In her hands was a Pirate Flair. Something she had used to alert Risky to come to her A.S.A.P during their alliance. She held onto one, and intended to use it to hopefully get the attention of her enemy/crush. It had been a long time since they crossed paths and she was worried it wouldn't work. But she had to try.

So, with a deep breath, she set it off.

Risky was about to settle in for the night. Just as she was about to get changed into her pajamas however, one of her minions came running up to her. "What do you want?" She asked annoyingly. Whatever it was, Risky didn't want to deal with it. She was too tired-

"A Pirate Flair? Near... Scuttle Town?!" Shantae was the only one with those. That must mean she was TRYING to get her attention. ...But for what? It was late at night. Shouldn't that genie be asleep? What could she need at this hour?

Well. Only one way to find out.

"WEIGH ANCHOR!"

With that command, her ship was promptly brought towards the dock where her genie foe awaited. For once, they were meeting on Shantae's terms. Not Risky's.

The pirate got to the top of her ship, her eyes locking onto the half-genie heroine. "Risky Boots." She spoke first. In a softer tone than usual with their encounters. "In the flesh." And Risky did the same. "So.. what is it that you want? Especially at this hour. My beauty sleep is very important!" She attempted to hold up that usual personality she had when they went at each other. The pirate failed. Miserably.

"Just a talk." Is all Shantae responded with. Her nemesis glanced away for a split second. "I already told you, I'm not becoming a goody two-shoes like you and your little friends. So just forget-"

"That's not what I meant."

That made the Pirate Queen pause. With a sigh, she spoke again. "Very well. Come up here so we can talk more properly."

And the half-genie did so. Using her hair to grapple herself up to the ship, she stood mere inches away from Risky Boots. Neither moved for a moment. A minute to be exact. Likely trying to sniff out any sort of trick the other may have.

"Well? My time is important. So make it snappy if you can." Risky demanded.

Shantae nodded. Of course she knew how important her time was. And she didn't intend to waste it. But the half-genie didn't want to just.. blurt out that she had a crush for her enemy. That would just feel.. well, she couldn't really describe it, but Shantae figured Risky deserved a better confession than that given their history.

So with a deep breath, she began: "It's been a while since we last encountered each other. Was kind of worried something may have happened to you."

The Pirate Queen's breathing hitched for a second. The runt.. was concerned for her? That couldn't be true. They were rivals! Enemies! They shouldn't be.. missing one another.

...Longing for one another.

"Well, I-I'm.. fine." She responded to her nemesis. "So if that's all-"

"Just listen to me."

Those words promptly quieted Risky. Her body tensing and face flushing a bit as her eyes raked over Shantae. Committing each inch and curve of her body to detail. She mentally smacked herself out of it. Focusing on the words that came out of the half-genie's mouth.

"I've made some discoveries while you were gone. Such as an attraction to other women." She'd inform. "Alongside the feeling of.. being in love."

A feeling a-kin to jealousy washed over Risky Boots. Shantae had a love interest? Who was it? Who did she need to-

"Risky. I'm.. in love with you."

...

"What?" She couldn't believe it. The Genie Guardian had a crush on... her? But that was impossible. Risky treated her horribly. She tricked Shantae, manipulated her, stole her magic...

She harmed her.

"Y-y-you're lying!" Risky accused, pointing her finger at her secret crush. "It's the truth." Shantae replied. Her calm, gentle tone a contrast to the pirate's more frantic way of speaking.

"B-but I've done.. terrible things to you! I've hurt you, your friends, and the residents here dozens of times! Loving me is simply impossible!"

The heroine's palm rested on Risky's shoulder. "That's not what matters now." She then looked over to the moon that loomed over them. "We've worked together in the past. A month ago to be exact. During that, I always felt that flutter in my chest around you. Especially seeing you in THOSE clothes."

The duo chuckled. Knowing full-well she had been referring to the Tan Line outfits they had once worn. "I'm not asking you to be a good guy. I know that's not your thing. But.."

"Stop." Risky promptly quieted Shantae's words. "Would you.. like to know the reasons I haven't been around as often?" This came as a bit of a surprise but the half-genie nodded her head.

The pirate took a deep breath, steeling herself for her own confession. "It's taken me a while to come to terms with this. But your words have.. inspired me."

This made the tanned skin female raise an eyebrow. She opened her mouth to speak but chose to allow Risky to continue: "Much like you, I have also had time to myself. Let myself make a few discoveries about myself. And one of them.. surprised me. Worried me even. Tried to convince myself the opposite but I realized it wasn't helping at all."

Another sigh came out of Risky Boots. "I.... I also have fallen for you. Runt." Her confession stunned Shantae. Her blue eyes widening, her mouth opened slightly, while the pirate's face got noticeably more red. "But.. can we truly do this?" Risky spoke up. "Again, I've done awful things to you. I'm the reason you lost your magic." Her lips quivered, her teeth gritting.

"Could you truly fall in love with a monster?"

A tender touch came to Risky's cheek. It was Shantae's palm. Her eyes locked onto her crush's. "Yeah. You've done some things to me. Things that still kind of stick with me. But.. maybe this could be a little 'do-over' for us. A chance for our relationship to expand more than what it is now." The Genie Guardian's hand took Risky's own, holding it close to her chest. "But we have to be willing to walk forward together."

Risky's heart felt as if it was trying to break free from it's fleshy prison. Her gaze locked onto the half-genie, the moonlight further adding a sense of intimacy to their tender moment.

"Together..." The pirate repeated. The word feeling a bit funny on her tongue. To say it in such a sincere and honest way. It felt wrong. Yet also right.

Slowly but surely, Risky's lips carved into a smile. Not a cocky grin. Not a sadistic smirk. But a smile. A genuine, heart-felt smile.

And then, before the two women knew it, they're faces inched closer. And closer. Until they're lips met in a kiss.

It didn't necessarily last long. About a minute to be exact. But that singular moment of bliss was the most euphoria any of the two had felt.

After pulling away, the duo gazed into each other's eyes. A silent agreement passing between each other. They'd remain enemies on the battlefield, but behind closed doors, they would embrace each other more properly like lovers should. The road ahead likely wasn't going to be easy. It never really has been for either of the two.

But no matter what, Shantae and Risky Boots would see it through. Side by side. Together.

Bit of a short post but I wanted to get this out.

It's Father's Day (still where I'm at) and I just wanted to make a small post talking a bit about my own dad. Again short cause I wanna get this out in time.

I'm so honored to have the father I do and I'm even more honored to be his kid. That man went through thick and thin raising me and I will forever be grateful for his existence. I truly wish I could say more but just know that if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't be here. Figuratively and literally.

I spent all day with him and although the passage of time has taken a small toll on him, we still share laughs, jokes and have fun together. He's my role model. Always has and always will be.
