Hi hi just had a quick q because I’ve been trying to find this one fic I read a while ago (idk who it’s by) and idk if it’s been deleted or what. But Shelby moves into the apartment next to Toni and she is engaged to Andrew but he is never there and I’m pretty sure they don’t like each other at first but then they obv fall in love but Shelby still decides to go to the wedding and it breaks Toni’s heart? Fics of the week is back after a brief sabbatical where I was dealing with real life stuff. I am now back to endlessly reading fanfic, so with no further ado, here are my most recent recommendations:

I bet you didn’t know season 2 was leaked back in April. That’s right. This author, and this author alone, knows what happens in season 2, and she’s written it all out for us. It’s a canon island au, it’s brilliant and it so perfectly captures goodfoe’s dynamic it makes me want to fling myself off a cliff. Everything from Martha’s inquisition to Fatin’s drunken protectiveness, to Shelby’s slow journey is written with that intense care so crucial to tnr’s writing style. She doesn’t miss a beat, every word is placed there like she put a ship inside a bottle. You’re gonna wanna give this three reads at least. I still think about it every day.

It’s a high school au with a little bit of everything, obligatory group project, interrupting the teacher with their arguing, references to harry potter, Martha being the best character in the show. Oh and also you’re gonna cry. It’s everything you need to get through a Friday night. And I don't care that I’m writing this on a Tuesday.

The way the author doesn’t try to ham in every character but every character is still artfully used, the way the author references the show without it being annoying, the way Toni—in such a weird out of character situation—makes perfect sense, it all comes together. Every character’s journey in this is beautiful and it’s the celeb au you didn’t know you desperately needed.
