Yess, thank you for saying it. I haven't read the books but I've read excerpts & skimmed through book 2 & I feel the book characters are definitely a watered down version of the show characters. I definitely love the show Jere & Belly more, I think they improved them for the show but also Gavin & Lola bring their own flavour & colour while portraying them which is so good to see.

I think I wouldn't have minded if Belly ended with neither brother but having her end up with Conrad is such a bad ending. I haven't read book 3 but making her end with Conrad is just undoing all and any of Belly’s character development & I felt the same in the ending scene of season 1 ep 7. I love seeing sassy Belly who isn't getting manipulated by Conrad. I think while Belly has flaws of her own & all authors are allowed to write whatever they want & not all female characters have to be "strong" but watching an immature, smitten girl get over a crush who mistreats her would've been such a big win for all the girl readers/watchers. Even with all her flaws, I don't want Belly to end up with Conrad. I think Belly & Conrad are just linked through nostalgia, while bellyjere have a proper connection.

Also I hate when Jere stans are just minding their business and Conrad stans are like "I bet you haven't read the books and it shows" when the show & the books are drastically different. Also I skimmed through book 2 and I still don't understand how & why bonrad is endgame.
