Adam woke up bright and early with a big stretch. Today was his day off so naturally he was excited to just chill out and do whatever for the day. He pretty much rotated between three different outfits nowadays as most of his clothes had worn out and needed replacing. Maybe it was time to do a bit of clothes shopping.

After throwing on whatever decent clothes he could find, Adam grabbed his keys and wallet before heading out. He was on his way down town when he passed a certain shop. He’d been down this road so many times but somehow he’d never noticed this shop. Just looking at it was giving him weird vibes…

It appeared to be a clothing shop. ‘Threads for Life’ it was called. It seemed so strange and out of place yet Adam couldn’t help feeling drawn to it. Well the whole reason he went out was for some new clothes so why not have a quick look around.

He soon found himself pushing open the door with a creak, causing a bell to jingle. The first thing he saw was multiple rows of clothing racks that extended down the length of the store. It almost certainly seemed bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside. Scanning his eyes across the shop he also noticed that the majority of the clothes seemed to be sold as outfits rather than individual items.

Soon after Adam was greeted by a short man looking to be in his mid 50’s. He kindly introduced himself as Tony. With a big smile, the man explained that he was the shopkeeper and was more than happy to help in any way that he could. He seemed sweet and even offered to walk Adam around the shop to help him find something. Adam shrugged and accepted the offer, allowing Tony to begin leading him down the many aisles of clothing.

As the two walked, Tony pointed out various outfits to Adam. Though as he did, Adam quickly began to notice the more unusual clothing the shop sold. There were some regular clothes sure but he could help noticing more and more costume fits as he was guided through the isles. Things like firefighter uniforms and police uniforms that definitely didn’t seem like the cheap costumes you’d find around Halloween. They were incredibly detailed and well made. They almost looked as though they’d been ripped for actual people in those professions…

“Would you mind if I asked a question sir? Tony asked politely, prompting Adam to respond with a simple nod. “Have you ever been into sports?”

Adam thought it was an odd question but gave an answer anyway. “Well I guess I like watching it sometimes but I wouldn’t say I’m into it. I always thought about playing more sports when I was younger but just never really found the motivation I guess.” He responded truthfully.

“Well it’s never too late to get into it. Especially at your age. What are you 30? 32?” The older man eyed Adam’s frame up and down. He was of average build. Not too fat but not too skinny either. “Maybe buying yourself something a little sporty will help get you into the right mindset!” Tony insisted as he led Adam towards the more sports themed section of the shop.

Adam didn’t really see how buying some random sports gear would make him wanna play more sports but decided he decided to humour the sweet older gentleman.

Looking through the clothing racks he saw kits for all kinds of different sports. Baseball, Tennis, Football and so on. They stopped however when Tony pulled a white Rugby kit off one of the racks. It looked far too big for Adam yet Tony insisted that he at least go and try it on. Adam raised an eyebrow. It had to be a joke right? He let out an amused huff as he took the large t-shirt and shorts before Tony handed him the matching rugby socks and cleats.

Tony pointed Adam in the direction of the changing rooms where he entered a stall and closed the curtain behind him. Placing the rugby kit on the bench, Adam fo7nd himself getting undressed and wondering what the hell he was even doing here. As he put his clothes to one side he looked at himself in the mirror. Looking at his somewhat out of shape body. He was fine with the way he looked now but the thought of losing some weight and gaining some muscle certainly was an attractive one. He figured trying to get into sports might not be that bad of an idea if he gets him into a more active lifestyle.

Picking up the white shorts from the bench, Adam chuckled to himself. There was no way this stuff was gonna fit him but it didn’t seem like Tony was gonna take no for an answer until he was proved wrong. And so, with a sigh, Adam slipped his legs into the shorts and pulled them up. To his surprise the waistband managed to keep the shorts up, albeit very loosely. Adam then tugged on the oversized shirt which hung just as loosely as it consumed his upper body.

It was then he realised that the clothes had a bit of an odd scent. Almost sweaty? As though they’d been recently worn and used. He would’ve complained but… he actually found himself enjoying the smell a little. It sounded weird but the faint masculine aroma was oddly alluring.

Shortly after Adam pulled on the rugby socks. Pulling them all the way up his calves and even then they still felt a little big. I played rugby all four years I spent at college, and just like my teammates I’ve got the ass to prove it.

You know, it’s funny. I had a girlfriend my first year. My high school sweetheart. I remember we’d do coach’s infamously gruelling practice drills. I’d hobble back to my apartment, barely able to walk, my glutes screaming at me. And my girlfriend would be like “eww, your butt’s getting so big, it’s gross.” She’d tell me all her friends were making fun of me, and of her for dating me. She wanted me to quit the team and go on a diet. Stop hanging out with all those muscly big-butt bros. It was really upsetting me how unsupportive she was.

But I had a meeting with Coach, and he gave me great advice. You should always be yourself, and do what you want to do, and the right people will like you for it. And if someone doesn’t like you for who you really are, it’s not meant to be.

So I broke up with that girl Thanksgiving weekend of my first year on the team.

Anyway, you met Craig already, right? Gigantic ass, in every sense. He was on the team the same time as me. We’ve been together for eight years now. Couldn’t imagine a better life, or a sexier man to share it with. Funny how things have a way of working out.

Outlander fans have been kicked back into excitement mode after production and casting updates were made about the prequel series Blood of My Blood earlier this year.

As well as Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine confirmed as Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) grandparents in the series, Tony Curran will also join the drama as series regular Lord Lovat, Jamie Fraser's grandfather.

While Outlander fans aren't exactly looking forward to the end of the original with its eighth and final season, there's plenty to look forward to in the new prequel series, which will explore the two parallel love stories which take place in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and in World War I England.

But has either of the Outlander series leads offered any words of wisdom going into the beloved franchise? Chatting exclusively to RadioTimes.com on the release of Sky's Mary & George, Curran joked: “I’ve spoken to Sam [Heughan] a few times, looking for Scotland v England rugby tickets, I did actually."

He then continued: "He’s just been nice, he’s a sweetheart, he was like ‘just have a good time’ and telling me about the producers, the crew and what the experience might be like. Ultimately, he was like ‘I think you should do it and I think you’ll have a great time’.

"It’s supposed to be that you’re contracted for a certain amount of years, but whether or not that happens. What I’ve seen so far, the professionalism of the Scottish and British crews up there are incredible and what we’ve shot, what I’ve seen so far looks really nice.

"The scripts are really interesting so hopefully … it’s going back in time again, 1914 and 1714 so hopefully that’ll be another [wig], I bet I’m wigged up again so another interesting experience.”

Curran can currently be seen in Sky's talked-about new historical drama Mary & George as King James VI of Scotland and I of England, a King who was seduced by George Villiers under the tutelage of his mother Mary.

Of course, Curran is also known for a variety of other roles in Mayflies, Doctor Who and Your Honor, also recently being announced as part of the cast of Lockerbie.

But in Outlander: Blood of my Blood, Curran will star as Heughan's on-screen grandfather. While details of his role remain under wraps for now, there's a lot to look forward to in the new series.

Speaking of the story, showrunner Matthew B Roberts said: "[It will] explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain.

"The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognise."

On January 19th 2010 Bill McLaren the voice of rugby died.

The BBC commentator known fondly as the voice of rugby, McLaren was the best rugby commentator of all time and by many has been described as one of the best men the world has ever seen.

He was unbiased, clear, knowledgeable, and his voice is part of the fabric of rugby in its greatest era. Scotland is proud that a Scotsman was the best rugby commentator, but he was more than that, he fought at Monte Cassino, one of the Second World War's bloodiest battles, and at one stage found himself in a ditch when he heard German voices just feet away. He was 20-years old.

I think most of us know that he should have been capped at the game he loved but tuberculosis robbed him of the chance. McLaren was born in that Borders and grew up to be a talented flanker.

Having made the Hawick first XV before the war, he played in a Scotland trial in 1947 and was on the verge of a full international cap when he contracted the tuberculosis which nearly killed him.

He was desperately ill and fading fast when the specialist asked him to be a guinea pig for a new drug called Streptomycin along with four others, three of them died but McLaren made what amounted to a miracle recovery. His first commentary was made while convalescing from TB, describing table tennis matches for the hospital radio.

McLaren studied Physical Education in Aberdeen, and went on to teach PE right through to 1987, coaching several players who went on to play for Scotland - Jim Renwick, Colin Deans and Tony Stanger.

It was through his junior reporting with the Hawick Express that he launched himself into a career of commentary, making his national debut for BBC radio in 1953, when Scotland were beaten 12-0 by Wales. The switch to television came six years later.

Scotland and Hawick sorely miss McLaren who died aged 86, he described his home town regularly by saying that a day out of Hawick "is a day wasted".

Commentary/Context/Memories: It’s like a sports version of Quantum Leap.

[Mod A: I actually haven’t seen either Quantum Leap or The Jersey, so I don’t know what this means lol (but I will research to understand!). Quantum Leap is about a physicist who involuntarily travels through space-time to correct historical mistakes by using the bodies of people in that historical period. The Jersey uses a similar concept to this where four teenagers (Nicholas "Nick" Lighter, Morgan Hudson, Coleman Galloway, and Elliot Riffkin) share a magic football jersey (which was Nick’s grandfather’s old jersey) that puts one of them into the body of a famous athlete (from various sports) in order to learn important life lessons. I did not recognize any athletes on the Wikipedia list except for Tony Hawk and Sabrina Bryan (they had a Cheetah Girl in one episode?!?!!), but that’s bc most of them were American footballers or basketball players (sports I didn’t grow up watching), and the two hockey players were not on my hometown team. I’m also so curious, do they telepathically connect with the mind of the athlete or is it a full on possession? Regardless, this seems to be heavily focused on American Football, although it seems there were some basketball, rugby, wrestling, baseball and hockey episodes. From the episode descriptions, Morgan seems to be the most compelling character to me because she got to transport into the soccer and hockey bodies! They also had an episode “Nick’s a Chick” where the main guy Nick insults women’s sports and consequently gets transported into the body of Lisa Leslie (a WNBA player) to hopefully learn to put some respect on women’s sports <3 Another unexpected connection from another poll is that Lee Thompson Young (The Famous Jett Jackson, RIP) was in an episode! Probably would be more interested in it if the jersey was a hockey jersey (but that’s just my bias haha)].

“Hiya, Spidey,” came Mr. Stark’s voice from the suit and a second later, the man himself stepped out. Peter had been this close to Mr. Stark once, back when they went to the Stark Expo. He was in awe of the man and the suit then and now, it was much of the same. 

Peter almost fell off the building on purpose, running away from the whole situation, but he couldn’t get himself to move. Instead he cleared his throat, trying to sound much older than almost but not quite 16 years old. “Hi, Mr. Stark Man.”

The second the words left his mouth, he wanted to die right then and there.

Mr. Stark laughed, moving away from the suit and coming closer. “Mr. Stark Man was my father, please call me Tony.”

“I’d prefer Mr. Stark,” Peter said, words coming out of his mouth without his permission. “Can I help you?”

“Hm,” Mr. Stark said, stopping close to Peter, almost enough to touch him. “I just wanted to say hi. I’ve seen you swinging around lately, pretty impressive stuff if I do say so myself. That car you caught? Great job.”

“Thanks.”

“We should hang out sometime, it’d be nice to catch up,” Nick said, cutting him off before Charlie could escape the conversation. He pulled his phone out of his pocket. “What’s your number? I’ll text you, so you can have mine.”

Charlie was a bit confused and worried at how strong Nick had come on. He tried to remember if they really did talk at any point but he could remember nothing beyond a brief hi once, maybe twice. Nick was a year above him and played rugby, something Charlie didn’t touch. He was never allowed to attend any parties, especially if Ben was going to be there too. 

“Oh uh,” Charlie stammered. He’d gotten a new number and phone after leaving Ben since he was in charge of their phone bills. He kinda remembered it but with Nick standing there, he couldn’t recall. He fished his phone out of his pocket, unlocking the screen. “I just got a new number,” he added. “I don’t really remember it, sorry.”

“Oh, let me give you mine,” Nick said, not deterred in the slightest. He rambled out his number, as Charlie typed it into his contact, labeled him as “Rugby Nick” for some reason. There were only 5 names in his contact list to begin with, it wasn’t like he wouldn't remember putting in Nick Nelson’s number.

“Ah shit,” Charlie said, almost falling off the bed in his haste. “Where the fuck are my jeans?”

“Your jeans? Jesus, where are my pants?” Nick mumbled, getting up out of bed and scavenging around his floor. “We have to be better about this part.”

“Oh sorry,” Charlie said, rolling his eyes, but finding his jeans, pulling them back on while Nick struggled to get his shirt over his head. “I was a little preoccupied with the hickey you were sucking into my collarbone to stop and fold my pants.”

They dressed with just enough time, opening the bedroom door and getting in their “normal” cuddle pose just as Sarah came up the stairs. Nick had placed his laptop on his lap, making it look like they’d just been watching something. But if Sarah came any closer she might have noticed the laptop wasn’t even turned on.

“Hi boys!” she called out, her voice a lot louder than it needed to be. “I’m home and coming up the stairs.”

Charlie blushed, shoving his face into Nick’s shoulder as his boyfriend giggled. “God, I hate that she totally knows what we’re doing. This is just - so cringe.”

HOWEVER

I loved it sm it was so good dude. And and and I will say the one thing I do remember specifically from when I read it the day it came out was that I totally forgot that they were in a bathroom so when I read that like tony was on the sink or counter or whatever I was like like huh is she sitting on the bar counter and then fak butted in like and it got restated they were in the bathroom and I was like oh that makes way more sense

my darling i do not think you need to fear having to get something to me before the next chapter drops, i've been quite busy since the move (still kinda ongoing. we really need to vacuum,,,) so I have not really gotten much a chance to write! Plus I'm finally hanging out with friends again, so DnD saturdays are BACK ON! Which means. I'll be lucky if I get some uninterrupted time to work on it Sunday/Monday.
