While this might be a simple poll for many of us, Gazans do not have the luxury to sit and think if they like winter. The rain which swept through Gaza a few weeks ago washed away many of the tents which were situated by sea-side and thus destroyed resources that were acquired after months of raising funds. My friend Amal Ashour ( @amalashuor ) urgently needs to replace the soggy blankets and she needs to buy warm clothes for winter too. It is dreadfully cold right now and Amal is worried about her little daughter Mariam. She requires these funds to keep her daughter safe during these terrible months of winter. Additionally it has been hard to access any rations. A month ago when I spoke to Amal, she said that flour bags were costing around $150 USD- this has increased to almost $250 USD now!! That too at a time when Amal is not only bearing the responsibility for her own little family, but she is also helping out her extended family as well. So please boost and please donate to Amal's fundraiser. She is going through an extremely difficult time and is responsible for more than twenty people.

New Year's Eve in Gaza..🇵🇸🇵🇸

“There is no one left to celebrate”

As the world prepares to celebrate New Year's, the brutal Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip continues, destroying the remaining hopes, dreams and wishes for the New Year.

While the most delicious foods with the best taste and quality are prepared in most homes in the world, we suffer from severe hunger and a severe food crisis.

On days like these, we used to buy new warm winter clothes in preparation for celebrating Christmas. Today we are in worn-out clothes that do not protect against the extreme cold.Today we are in a tent that is a refrigerator at night.

Most of my family suffer from chest diseases and influenza, and today I was infected as a result of the extreme cold and lack of clothing, and I am writing to you now while I am shivering from the severity of the cold.

We ask you to intervene urgently to protect children and the elderly from danger and provide them with warm clothes.

It's cold. Everytime you put on a warm sweater or jacket, think of the infants dying from the cold in Gaza simply because their homes have been destroyed by Israel and their parents aren't able to buy warm blankets to protect them from the bitter cold.

Amal (@amalashuor) was telling me how cold it can get in the tent and how the fragile condition of the tent doesn't protect her or her toddler from the cold. Her palms are cracking and bleeding because of the harsh weather. Thankfully, she was able to buy two warm outfits for her daughter using your donations.

Things that were and had suddenly changed:

When cooking oil ran out from the market, we replaced it with ghee as an alternative. So the price of ghee increased ten times. When they hoarded sugar, we started to use vanilla extract instead until sugar ran out from the market.Instant coffee is blocked from entering, and the kind that is available is now very expensive. We turned to fresh coffee instead. They started skimping with fresh coffee and its price increased dramatically. Vegetables are expensive and practically nonexistent. We started to depend on canned food. Now the can of spoilt food, peas, beans, fava beans and chickpeas, is 7 shekels (2$)

My friends, I want to clarify something very important to you, which is that all the campaign money is spent and nothing is left. This post shows you the cost of living in Gaza.

Don't look at how much the campaign has earned, but look at how many people it has spent on and how much life costs in Gaza.

Hi! I'm Mohammed Al-Habil,31 years old. I have a family of 3 members.

I'm from Gaza but I've got displaced so many times from Gaza. I've got injured in the first week of this ongoing war, since that time I've been forced to leave my home to UNRWA center as a shelter. The nightmare hasn't finished, my dad has got killed in the fourth month of the war, leaving my mum and two sisters so we've taken responsibility of them in addition to my family.

This nightmare "war" has taken everything, my dad, my work, my belongings, my home which has been destroyed, my peaceful life, my peace of mind, everything!

We live in extremely hard circumstances. We have no water, no healthy food, no electricity, no healthy place, no source of money, no health care, nothing!

We live in an unhealthy environment full of diseases. I live in a tent that neither protects us from sunshines nor protects us from rain. I need a new waterproof tent which costs 1000$, my current tent is made from clothes, it doesn't protect us from rain and cold, I'm sure you'll help.

I've faced so many diseases including hepatitis and viral infection "causing fever" due to unhealthy food and environment. The food we eat is canned food although it is unhealthy and expensive.

In addition to that, my wife has faced hepatitis due to dirty bathrooms, unhealthy food and unhealthy environment we live in.

In addition to that my little innocent son, 2 years and 10 months old, has had an operation on his eyes. In brief, my life has become a miserable nightmare!

This night is the coldest night Gaza has experienced since the beginning of winter. The children are freezing from the intense cold, lying under the blanket, with no clothes to warm them, no food to fill them, no blankets to cover them, and no walls to protect them. This is the scene inside my tent right now—only complete darkness, the sound of warplanes, and the explosions that accompany us every moment. The sounds of the military boats are also constant, as they terrorize my children every time they fire their shells and machine guns.

I don’t love Gaza, and I want to travel?!!

I was born, lived, grew up, and learned in northern Gaza. In its streets, I fell in love, and among its houses were my sweetest memories. My friends, my family, my cousins… everything beautiful happened to me in this country, and everything unpleasant happened to me as well.

I lost my friends. My house was bombed. My family’s home and my memories are gone. I live in a nylon tent. My family and I are hungry, unable to find a loaf of bread to eat. I have literally been devastated in this country. But I won’t allow anyone to tell me: “You don’t love Gaza, and you want to escape from it.”

I was completely against the idea of traveling.

Before the war, and people who know me can attest to this, I was wholeheartedly against traveling. Gaza, despite all its problems, was my home, and I believed that no matter how high I reached or how wealthy I became, there was nothing better than sharing my happiness and achievements with my family and people. I used to say: What good is it to be very rich if I can’t laugh a heartfelt laugh with my friends? What good is it to be a doctor if I can’t return home at the end of the day and see the pride in my mother’s and father’s eyes? Everything I did was to live a simple and happy life with those around me.

The war changed everything.

Until the war happened and destroyed everything. I became afraid to return to northern Gaza, not from the bombing, but from the sorrow over the destruction that occurred.

That’s why, with all the pain, I decided to travel with my family and leave the country.

Why did I decide to travel?

There’s nothing beautiful left for me here. Everything beautiful is gone. My family is hungry. The cold has taken a toll on our little children’s bodies. When I see the face of my niece “Hayat,” I fear losing her to hunger or cold. “She’s the little girl with me in the picture.”

The situation here is frightening. I can’t bear to lose anyone else. I want to get out of the country.

Gaza is in my heart despite everything.

This country is my blood, and its soil is the most precious thing in my life. But I’m not well, and I know I won’t be able to help it in this situation. Because I believe I will return with young people like me, and we will rebuild it anew. But to do something real, I have to travel. Because if this doesn’t happen, I might not even exist—maybe I’ll be dead—or missing.

A Cry from the Rubble: A Family Torn Apart by War

Hello,

My name is Ghada, a 32-year-old Palestinian woman from Gaza. I once lived a life filled with hope and ambition ✨. I studied Information Technology 🎓, earned a bachelor's degree, and worked at a private company where I believed my future was taking shape 🌟. But in a single moment, war destroyed everything.

Our home, the place that held our dreams and memories 🏡, my job that I was proud of 💼, and the future my family worked so hard to build—all reduced to rubble under relentless bombing 💔.

Our Home... Reduced to Rubble💔

When the bombing intensified, our lives turned into an endless nightmare 😔. Our home, once a sanctuary of safety and warmth, was completely destroyed, forcing us to flee to Rafah in southern Gaza ⛺. There, we lived in a tiny tent that barely protected us from the harsh winter ❄️ or the scorching summer heat ☀️.

But even that was not the end of our suffering. We were displaced again, this time to central Gaza, where we now live in an overcrowded school for displaced families. Here, we have no clean water 🚰, insufficient food 🍞, and no safety to speak of.

My Father and Brother... Victims of Economic Destruction 💔😑

My father, Nabil, 62 years old, worked tirelessly in his small aluminum workshop 🔨. It was our only source of income, but the war destroyed it completely, leaving him helpless in the face of this devastation 💔.

My brother Khaled, 23 years old, graduated with a degree in accounting 📚 and started his career in a construction company 🏗️. But like many others in Gaza, he lost his job and dreams to the war 💼. Today, he bears the heavy burden of providing our family with basic necessities like food and water 🍞💧, despite the unbearable conditions.

Our Children... Innocence Lost to War 💔😢

The children in our family—Lama, Nabil, Amir, Fatima, Iman, and Noor—are the true victims of this war 🧒👧.

They live without schools 🎒, without toys 🧸, and without any hope for a safe future. Diseases are everywhere 🦠, and recently, polio has begun to spread, adding to their suffering. These children, who should be learning and playing, are now trapped in fear, hunger, and illness 😢.

Life Here... A Slow Death 💔🥺

We are living in conditions unfit for humanity. The water is polluted 💧, food is scarce 🍽️, and diseases are rampant 🩺. Our children go to bed hungry, and every day, we wake up to more pain and despair.

All we want now is to escape this nightmare 🛑. Crossing the Rafah border into Egypt is our only chance for survival 🌍, but it costs $5,000 to $7,000 per person 💸—an amount we cannot afford.

In this war, I am facing indescribable suffering. When my period comes, I cannot find the sanitary pads I need. Been chatting with @amalashuor who is one of the people who got displaced and literally pushed to the edge of the land where there's nowhere else to go. She's currently in a tent with her husband and toddler by the sea. When the tide is up, the tent gets flooded. And on days like yesterday, she frantically told me how Israeli naval forces started firing towards the tents at the shore where she is. Amal witnesses and experiences this on a daily basis, and she's one of millions who face these horrors everyday. She set up a campaign and she's only €6k away from reaching her target.
