Finished 3/7/20 • Hold Back the Tide
Wow. That ending 😭😭
This book was so suspenseful! It started out tense, the main character Alva living with a murderer, her father. I don’t want to give away the plot, but the tension just kept increasing from there. I couldn’t put it down.
I loved the whole aesthetic, with the loch and vampire-like monsters in an old-fashioned Scottish town called Ormscaula.
The plot and characters were amazing. The only thing I didn’t really like was the romance, which is probably just because I’m not in the mood (it was a pretty small part of the story anyway).
Tbh, I originally bought this because it was cheap on kindle, but I ended up really invested in the story.
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finished 18/6/20 • Dread Nation
(I finished this about 2 weeks ago and I don’t have a great memory and this is my first post, so let’s see how it goes😊)
I really enjoyed this book even though I don’t know heaps about American history. Dread Nation is set in the US just after the civil war, and zombies have taken over most of the country. Black and Native Americans are forced to go to combat schools to fight the undead. Jane, our badass main character, has to attend one of these schools.
The plot is way more exciting than I thought it sounded, full of zombie fighting action and mystery. I’m not usually a zombie book person, but I found myself absorbed through the whole thing. The representation is also great - both main characters are Black, Jane is bi, and Katherine is aro-ace. These two start as enemies but become great friends throughout the book. I loved their characterisation and friendship :)
Overall I really liked this book, and would reccommend.
