"He's disillusioned. He's fat and happy, and he's going to enjoy life and not feel stress. His feeling is, 'Fuck it. I'm going to kick back and enjoy being the emperor.' " -Lee Pace

In Dream
by Ann Akhmatova tr. D.M. Thomas
Black and enduring separation I share equally with you. Why weep? Give me your hand, Promise me you will come again. You and I are like high Mountains and we can’t move closer. Just send me word At midnight sometime through the stars.

Start with a heartbreaking scene, and a couple of sketches of beautiful moments and see where that takes you 👀👀👀👀👀
I want to write a love story and then I hear one (1) sad song and immediately want to turn it into the most heartbreaking tragedy

WIP Wednesday
Another week, another tag game! Please share your last sentence; or, if you don’t have one, share a plot bunny or idea! (OR sketch for your artwork!)
I was tagged by @thelettersfromnoone, and shockingly, I actually have been writing!
I’ve shared this on my Discord server, so it feels like a cheat to share, but here we are:
From The Third Ship (working title)
The car was a black bullet, sucking the light out of the air, departing with him inside as silently as it had arrived. He nodded curtly at the other two passengers, evidently summoned in the same way, judging by their knitted eyebrows and concerned faces. He had a nearly uncontrollable urge to press his head against the cool, tinted glass pane that made the setting sun gleam unnaturally, blinding the emerging moons. But he did not, sitting rigidly upright, muscles coiled beneath his work suit.

“He got kicked out of student housing, Gal,” Finrod told her as she opened the front door to find not one but two men waiting to be let in. “They locked it all down. He’s got nowhere else to go.”
“He could go home,” she said, aiming an icy blue glare up at the man who stood half a head taller than her already tall brother.
“If that was an option, Gal, do you think I’d be standing out here? I’d rather be working on my PhD in our office, but none of us are allowed on campus right now.”
Or Finrod brings home his PhD mentee, Halbrand, home to ride out lockdown with him and his sister. Galadriel is NOT impressed. At first.

What should I write next?
Now that I am finishing editing my short story Place Beyond Heaven to submit it to a few sci-fi journals I like, I am sitting and thinking what to focus on next!
Help me choose!
The first two options are in the same universe, but are separated by about a thousand years.
The Third Ship is a short story about a newly established colony troubled by an arrival of a new ship from Earth. This story features sentient fungus and a ship computer who treats the colonists like a mother.
Greeter’s Mask is a whole novel and has a loser father-daughter adventurer duo, interplanetary politics, a fallen from grace hero, the return of sentient fungus, and more.

"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

Hello fellow classical music enthusiast I ask the same question, what are your top five classical pieces of all time? 🤔
Like you, I had to think about this long and hard. It's difficult to make these choices. Here they are, not ranked, as that would be wrong.
It would have been a betrayal to my country of origin if I wasn't a Tchaikovsky girlie (btw, I detest the English spelling of his name and can never get it right. I had to search for the spelling online, again). I am going to be incredibly basic and pick Swan Lake (Suite) Op. 20a, Act II. What do I like about it? I like how delicate it is, like the piece could shatter if you touch it too hard. Enchanting!
Asturias (Leyenda) by Isaac Albéniz. I love love LOVE classical guitar. The linked rendition is by my favourite Classical guitar player, Pablo Sainz Villegas. I have spent many days learning this piece, and I still suck terribly at it, but the spirit yearns for it.
Russian classical music strikes again, and it's Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev. Unreal - this piece is such a force!
I was going to say that Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot is in my top five, BUT if I am to pick one opera aria, then it would be this rendition of "E Lucevan Le Stelle" from Tosca, by Placido Domingo. Just listen to ittttt. It is heartbreaking. Also, see how I cheated and added two items here.
I have to put Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 here, too.
This means that I didn't add any Mozart or Beethoven or Bach or Vivaldi or Satie, but who doesn't love them! Everyone does!
And I didn't even add any modern classical musicians. Oh no! Five songs is so few :( But here we are! My list!

Top-notch choices all around. I particularly like that your selections span such a wide range of classical music. They all convey entirely different stories and emotions! Love it! Love them all!!!! 10/10
