Question for the LGBTQA community
I am currently doing a project to help create awareness for the LGBTQA community in my country, and I hope that you can help me out with some of these questions.
What do you love most during Pride?
What's your most memorable story about the community?
Other than acceptance, what message do you want to tell the world?
What would you tell the LGBTQA community?
I myself come from a country where the community is still heavily stigmatize and the government was more than unwilling to help and updating the laws, as well as giving equal rights to all ( for now the aim was to at least abolish the one where gays are thrown in jail)…
I would like to hear from others too about their stories, so do help if you can

People being against this song just because they don’t like Taylor Swift music or whatever, are selfish. Just for a moment put yourself in the shoes of a person who may not have the privilege of living in a big city that has a massive gay community or having a loving and accepting family that supports their sexuality/gender or even being born in a privileged country that has gay rights and being gay is more accepted.
And think about how validating it must feel to LGBT kids who live in places / countries that it’s illegal to be gay and can go to prision or be given death penalty. Think about how much influence and hope this video can give to them. It can literally save lives.
This isn’t about Taylor anyways, it’s about her using her big influence by giving a platform to LGBT artists so they can feel free and express themselves and to remind us that no one can judge us and no one can stop us. To make the whole community feel loved and safe.
Representation it’s really fucking important.

In 1972, early in his career, Green wrote an article in The International Journal of Psychiatry taking issue with “the premise that homosexuality is a disease or a homosexual is inferior.” The following year, the American Psychiatric Association dropped homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.
“Those were times when, if you spoke up in support of homosexuals, people immediately thought that you were secretly homosexual yourself, or had unresolved sexual issues,” Jack Drescher, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University, told the Times. “Richard was very much heterosexual, and it took a lot of courage to argue for gay people.”
Even earlier, in 1962, Green testified on behalf of a Nicaraguan man who was facing deportation from the U.S. for being gay. The man won the right to remain in the U.S. Later, Green “testified on behalf of a transgender woman who was suing to keep her job as a pilot, and a transgender parent who was suing for child visitation,” the Times reports.
Green eventually completed a law degree, and he put that to use in support of LGBTQ rights as well. In 1990 he volunteered his legal services in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union against the Boy Scouts of America’s ban on gay scoutmasters. Although the BSA won the suit, it finally dropped the prohibition in 2015.
May his memory be a blessing.
