I've seen a lot of talk about media literacy lately, and while I agree there are some real issues with modern fandom spaces not being able to see past the most surface level interpretation of a text, SOME of these arguments are starting to seem a bit, Idunno, ableist? Like, I dont wanna jump the gun but lots of folks on the spectrum struggle with the implications and tone of other peoples's statements and some of the 'wow, can't believe grown adults couldn't tell this guy was lying, wish my fandom had media literacy' posts feel like a socially acceptable way of mocking people with autism or other neurodivergent folks. Dunno, maybe I'm overreacting, but its okay to share spaces with people who consume media you love differently, and maybe a line or two on occasion helping people who might have missed some subtext isnt 'the death of art' that you think it is. I'm all here for creative freedom, but when I see people saying that a story is ruined by explaining something that 'they' already understood, I have a hard time not hearing a little bit of ableism towards folks who might have needed that help.

I’m sick and tired of adults saying “there is a media literacy issue going on” and then say an example of other grown adults just asking simply questions about a form of media and not understanding it.

These same adults scream about autism acceptance too btw.

These same adults also make tiktoks making it very clear that the women who didn’t understand the media have an accent that shows they are from the city too.

I think you people just fucking hate black autistic people but like whatever makes you blow up on tiktok ig.

I feel like people are all for autism inclusitivity until the person with autism is childish and doesn’t get social cues and can’t understand complex topics and have low emotional maturity

I find solace in kids shows and I honestly feel criticizing and picking on people for liking them is rooted in ableism. Saying “go watch Bluey” (as an insult) to people who aren’t emotionally mature always felt very wrong to me.

Same with saying someone has “low media literacy” and criticizing them for that. Not everyone can understand or comprehend complex narratives. Why is it treated like a crime to not understand fiction and, god forbid, to have bad takes on it?

This site has a huge problem with this and I will not be quiet about it.

God forbid someone process the world around them differently.

Trans people don't need to disclose that they're trans to you before you date them but i definitely think cis people should start disclosing they're cis instead of just saying "im a girl/boy" cause dating a cis person is a commitment not everyone has the time for. Like buying a bird

No Roof, No Walls… But We Had Bread and Gratitude 🙏 🙌..

Something beautiful happened today ✨️!!

Today, I was able to buy flour and firewood, and we made fresh, warm bread — my children ate until they were full.

This simple moment, something many take for granted, would not have been possible without your kindness 🙌🙏.

To everyone who donated: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You didn’t just give us food — you gave us dignity, hope, and a reason to smile 🙏☺️.

But our journey is far from over.

As you can see in the video, we are still living on the rubble of our destroyed home, in conditions no human being should endure.

We try to survive with the little we have,

But food, clean water, and safety are still out of reach — especially for the little ones.

✨ Please, be the reason a mother can feed her children today.

✨ Be the reason a child sleeps with a full belly tonight.
