I won’t go into detail about why I quit this website and I won’t delete this account, in case I ever want to come back to it, but I just want you to know that there is no point to following this account because I will not be posting anymore.

The Dan and Phil Survey 2017!

Hello again!

It’s been a while (16 months to be exact) and we are back with a new Dan and Phil survey.  In a effort to learn more about the demographic that Dan and Phil attract, we are pleased to announce the re-release of the viewer-based Dan and Phil Survey! We want to see if and how the Phandom has changed in those 16 months. Ideally we want to run this survey yearly from now on.

This survey aims to gain a better idea of what those who watch Dan and Phil videos are actually like through a series of multiple choice questions, including those about age, social media use, and how people view and interact with the content that Dan and Phil produce. The survey will be live for a tentative 2 months, and upon completion, the results will be posted and open for all to view from the survey blog, which is found at danandphilsurvey.tumblr.com

The goal of this survey is not just to look at the demographic of those involved with the Phandom, but also with more casual Dan and Phil viewers. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 SPOILER-FREE REVIEW

Since I am a huge fan of GotG and its soundtrack I thought I could write a little review but doing the whole film would have been so much work, so I will only be covering the soundtrack which I have been literally listening to on repeat since it came out. Please be aware that I am no music expert and am only describing my thoughts and feelings.

1. Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra

I feel like this is one of the best light-hearted happy songs I’ve ever listened to. It just always automatically puts me in a good mood and is just very pleasant on the ears. Plus, I am so digging the chorus, always gets me bouncing up and down. I have to admit, I was very sceptical when I first put on the album because Hooked on a Feeling was the ultimate intro to any good album and in general amazing but I wasn’t disappointed. Although Mr. Blue Sky is in no way better than Hooked on a Feeling, I believe it is a great successor to it. The only thing that I’m not entirely sure about is the outro because I don’t feel like it matches the rest of the song. Oh and am I the only who feels like this song could inspire some great art? If somebody does something artsy with this song, please tag me.

2. Fox On The Run by Sweet

This song is my jam. Although I only know the lyrics to the chorus, I always shout them along. What I also enjoy is that it evokes similar vibes like Go All The Way so, just like Mr. Blue Sky, it is an awesome successor to its counterpart from volume one.

3. Lake Shore Drive by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah

This song is a lot more chilled and relaxed than the first two tracks but just as light-hearted and enjoyable. It is really amazing for when you’re in the car and waiting at a red light because it just keeps you happy and relaxed and you just can’t get angry when this song is playing.

4. The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

Now this track spreads different vibes than the other tracks. While the others were really happy, this one is more dramatic and sincere. I can imagine it playing in the background of an old Western movie or something. Still really like it though, especially the chorus and the dramatic bass guitar bit.

5. Bring It on Home to Me by Sam Cooke

I’m not really sure about this song. It certainly isn’t my favourite from the album but you can definitely sway well to it. And i have to mention the creative bit in the chorus, I quote “yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah”

6. Southern Nights by Glen Campbell

This track brings the happy vibes back which I enjoy very much. And it’s really catchy.

7. My Sweet Lord by George Harrison

I feel like this song is just a filler. I mean, it’s good but it’s nothing special and I have skipped it a few times.

8. Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl) by Looking Glass

I personally don’t think this one is very special (except for the DUdudu DUdudu DUUUduu part at the beginning). However, since it plays a significant part in the movie, I haven’t skipped it that much and have come to enjoy it and sing along to it.

9. Come A Little Bit Closer by Jay & The Americans 

I totally dig this song. I can’t really explain why since it isn’t remarkably different to some songs that I didn’t like as much. The reason is probably that my sister likes it a lot so we listened to this one a bit more than the others. And the chorus just makes you shout the lyrics along.

10. Wham Bam Shang-a-Lang by Silver

We have reached my favourite song of the album. To me, it’s sort of like the new Come And Get Your Love. I don’t recall at which point of the movie it played but I remember already loving this song back then, it’s so amazing I don’t really have words for it. I mean the words are so simple (wham, bam shang-a-lang / And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing) but I believe that simplicity is a part of why I think it’s so genius.

11. Surrender by Cheap Trick

Just another filler song. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but not that special. Maybe I’ll appreciate more in a few weeks or months. OK, I’m playing it right now and I have to say that I pretty much like the chorus.

12. Father and Son by Cat Stevens

The saddest part of the movie and the soundtrack, usually has me in tears whenever I listen to it. If it weren’t for that scene, I’d probably not have that strong emotions about it but I can’t handle it. Also, I view this song as a sort-of successor to I’m Not In Love because it’s as well the only slow song on the album. However, I’m Not In Love only played for a few seconds in the first movie so I’m not that emotionally attached (and I don’t think the song is that good in general). Now, Father and Son on the other hand played during an emotionally devastating moment in the movie for multiple minutes and every listen is connected to very extreme sadness which is why this song holds a very special place in my heart.

13. Flash Light by Parliament

This song has really different vibes and types of music than all the previous songs and I’m not really digging it. I’d like it in the background of a sitcom commercial or something but not really between all these other amazing songs. And what the hell is going on during the end?!

14. Guardians Inferno by The Sneepers

I’m not very sure about this one. I don’t know if this was written for the movie (and I don’t feel like researching it) but I don’t think it fits the rest of the soundtrack 100%. However, I like the “We are Groot” bit.

In conclusion, (btw if you’ve read this far, congrats) Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is incredible but not as amazing as Vol. 1

Spoiler warning for GotG Vol. 2

There's finally evidence for Stan Lee's cameos all being the same character. In gotg 2 his character talks about his life and also states that he once worked for FedEx. Remember his civil war cameo? He was a FedEx driver.

i don’t think anyone outside of Germany understands how scarring it is to hear the words “Fresh Dumbledore”. you do not know that there’s a whole generation of Germans out there who get thrown back in time upon hearing those words… war flashbacks of “wer zum Teufel ist Amanda”, “Voldemort hat einen Stein nach mir geworfen”, “SCHINKEN!” and “Ich bin alt, ich bin bald tot, aus grün mach rot. Klatsch!”… those and so many other quotes still haunt me.

you do not know that there’s a whole parallel universe in Germany where Hermione is a lesbian, Dumbledore is a gangster rapper, Gilderoy Lockhard is a porn star and everything is 100% obscene. that everyone quoted these dubs for months. that there were actual albums of Fresh Dumbledore out there that you could listen to. That there was also an album of Snape’s black metal band. Even Warner Brothers got wind of it and threatened to sue.

one woman in Germany redefined Harry Potter for countless people for years, and none of you even know.

the memory of it is burnt into my brain and I cannot escape.
