Portal 2 is still the perfect game to me. I hyperfixated on it like crazy in middle school. Would sing Want You Gone out loud cuz I had ADHD and no social awareness. Would make fan animations and pixel art. Would explain the ending spoilers and fan theories to anyone who'd listen. Would keep up with DeviantArt posts of the cores as humans. Would find and play community-made maps (Gelocity is insanely fun).
I still can't believe this game came out 12 years ago and it looks like THIS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Mirror's Edge, the timeless art style and economic yet atmospheric lighting means this game will never age. The decision not to include any visible humans (ideas of Doug Rattmann showing up or a human co-op partner were cut) is doing so much legroom too. And the idea to use geometric tileset-like level designs is so smart! I sincerely believe that, by design, no game with a "realistic art style" has looked better than Portal 2.
Do you guys remember when Nvidia released Portal with RTX at it looked like dogshit? Just the most airbrushed crap I've ever seen; completely erased the cold, dry, clinical feel of Aperture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many breathtakingly pit-in-your-stomach moments I still think about too. And it's such a unique feeling; I'd describe at as... architectural existentialism? Experiencing the sublime under the shadow of manmade structures (Look up Giovanni Battista Piranesi's art if you're curious)? That scene where you're running from GLaDOS with Wheatley on a catwalk over a bottomless pit and––out of rage and desperation––GLaDOS silently begins tearing her facility apart and Wheatley cries 'She's bringing the whole place down!' and ENORMOUS apartment building-sized blocks begin groaning towards you on suspended rails and cement pillars crumble and sparks fly and the metal catwalk strains and bends and snaps under your feet. And when you finally make it to the safety of a work lift, you look back and watch the facility close its jaws behind you as it screams.
Or the horror of knowing you're already miles underground, and then Wheatley smashes you down an elevator shaft and you realize it goes deeper. That there's a hell under hell, and it's much, much older.
Or how about the moment when you finally claw your way out of Old Aperture, reaching the peak of this underground mountain, only to look up and discover an endless stone ceiling built above you. There's a service door connected to some stairs ahead, but surrounding you is this array of giant, building-sized springs that hold the entire facility up. They stretch on into the fog. You keep climbing.
I love that the facility itself is treated like an android zooid too, a colony of nano-machines and service cores and sentient panel arms and security cameras and more. And now, after thousands of years of neglect, the facility is festering with decomposition and microbes; deer, raccoons, birds. There are ghosts too. You're never alone, even when it's quiet. I wonder what you'd hear if you put your ear up against a test chamber's walls and listened. (I say that all contemplatively, but that's literally an easter egg in the game. You hear a voice.)
Also, a reminder that GLaDOS and Chell are not related and their relationship is meant to be psychosexual. There was a cut bit where GLaDOS would role-play as Chell's jealous housewife and accuse her of seeing other cores in between chambers. And their shared struggle for freedom and control? GLaDOS realizing, after remembering her past life, that she's become the abuser and deciding that she has the power to stop? That even if she can't be free, she can let Chell go because she hates her. And she loves her. Most people interpret GLaDOS "deleting Caroline in her brain" as an ominous sign, that she's forgetting her human roots and becoming "fully robot." But to me, it's a sign of hope for GLaDOS. She's relieving herself of the baggage that has defined her very existence, she's letting Caroline finally rest, and she's allowing herself to grow beyond what Cave and Aperture and the scientists defined her to be. The fact that GLaDOS still lets you go after deleting Caroline proves this. She doesn't double-back or change her mind like Wheatley did, she sticks to her word because she knows who she is. No one and nothing can influence her because she's in control. GLaDOS proves she's capable of empathy and mercy and change, human or not.
That's my retrospective, I love this game to bits. I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

Top 3 Games That Don't Exist Anymore
LEMMINGS (1991)
Tumblr media
Absolutely incredible puzzle game (based on the great lemming myth) where you attempt to guide a horde of lemmings to their home. Obstacles get in their path, so you have to give them jobs (building staicases, bashing through walls, digging, through the floor, stopping other lemmings from moving) to help them get home. It was cute, simple to understand, and INCREDIBLY difficult—especially once you got to the difficulty level "taxing".
Tumblr media
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
Folks just forgot about it and it kind of bounced around, never getting picked up when things like the Wii online store came out. After some remixed variants it never got a proper release.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
Aside from emulators, there's a free (with purchases) iOS/Android version of Lemmings now. The functionality is similar, and it's definitely cute, but it's not exactly the same in terms of gameplay, sound (the music!), and the levels are different. I'd love to be able to play the original levels again.
BOOKWORM ADVENTURES (2006)
Tumblr media
Utterly incredible spelling game. You play a cute little bookworm who has to travel through time and literature to battle beasties by spelling words. The longer the word you spell (and the more value the letters have as in Scrabble) the more damage you do. It's cute, it's educational, it's fun, it's competitive (there are records for biggest word, most damage, etc. so you can compete with friends); it's a nearly perfect game. And there was a sequel, too!
Tumblr media
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
EA purchased PopCap games and then, one day, for apparently no reason, removed it from their online store. And that's it. It's gone. Forever.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
You can pirate it, but otherwise, the closest I've found is a mobile game called Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey by Bacon Bandits. The core functionality is there, but it's not really as clever or as cute or as fun. There's an Easter egg for fans of Bookworm, and bless them for creating a very similar game, but it is just not the same.
UNIRACERS (1994)
Tumblr media
Also called Unirally, this was am awesome concept that was perfectly executed. You're unicycles that race really fast and do crazy tricks. All the stunts have names, you get points for them, there's track obstacles. It's simple, pure, unadulterated fun.
Tumblr media
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
This absolutely drives me up a wall. Pixar sued the makers of Uniracers because they said their unicycles looked like the unicycle in their short film Red's Dream from 1987. Like ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Thematically, the two things aren't similar at all, and, as the creator of the game said, "[t]here's not a lot of ways you can bring life to a unicycle without looking like the one Pixar did". Like...duh. The judge who made this ruling did irreparable damage to video games.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
There's no legal way to play this game, and, thanks to Pixar, there likely never will be. I've never encountered anything similar. It was such a unique play experience.

Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - Part 28
Masterlist
Lemon Drop (A-World & Dreamscape)
Timeline wise, this music video takes place during the Golden Hour Pt.1 Diary Entries while the members are split up and our main protagonist here will be Wooyoung.
During the Golden Hour Pt.2 and 3 Diary Entries, we'll later learn that Wooyoung didn't just miss performing on stage but that he actually missed his members more so than anything else. And that is precisely what we'll be seeing here: him reminiscing about a time when they were happiest. About a time when they used to explore the dreamscape together.
And it seems like the shared dream he thinks back to throughout this video is one which took place around the time Wave was set.
This was the time when they were freest to be who they are. No jobs, no parents, no nothing - just them travelling around Z-World with the Cromer, dropping in and out of the dreamscape while the Black Pirates were in their hideout planning the revolution, and Z's Android Guardians were unknowingly chasing after Ateez instead of the guys they were really looking for.
And now Wooyoung's mind is transported right back there, so let's hop on into the MV and see what we can puzzle together from the details:
Tumblr media
It's hot as hell, we're in the middle of summer, and half of A-World's Ateez are present inside our current location: the interior of a laundromat.
Note how Hongjoong is standing in front of the dryer labeled "03" because it's the third album in the series. There'll be more Easter eggs like this throughout the MV, such as the baggage slip reading "1024", referencing their debut date, or the license plates reading "ATZ-1024" and "ATN-1117" for Ateez and Atiny respectively. Since I have a limit to how many images can be included in a post though, I won't be pointing them all out.
Tumblr media
After seeing Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho and San in the laundromat, we switch over to a nearby car mechanics garage where Mingi, Wooyoung, Yeosang and Jongho seem to "work", except it's not really work because they're all in the dreamscape, as will become more and more apparent the further we move along.
Throughout the sections where we see Mingi alone, the words "No Parking" keep popping up in graffiti around him which could imply lingering is not an option for them at the moment. They have to keep moving, keep going, there's no looking back, no returning, no time for questioning, otherwise the Android Guardians will catch up to them.
This sentiment of being forced to move on is then driven home in a much more depressing way once everyone divides into the two cars and the music briefly fades during Wooyoung's part, right as he's looking in the rearview mirror:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cracks appear, spreading inward, connecting at the center and splitting his reflection as it blurs. We switch scenes to a foggy window pane, wet with condensation and hear the squeaking of his fingertip as he writes the word "crazy" backwards so we can see it the right way around.
The sequence is framed like a separate movie - all silence, cool blues, icy whites, and shadows, and this is what it's telling us:
During his reminiscing, Wooyoung's immersion cracks and shatters when he sees himself in the rearview mirror and is reminded of what he's longing for. It pulls him back to the present where he writes on his window as he realizes he's gone insane - he's now longing for a time when their lives were constantly in danger and Z-World was not yet freed.
After everything they've been through, all they've survived, all the people who died, he still wishes to go back.
Tumblr media
Despite his clear internal struggle, Wooyoung dives back into his memories to escape his depressing reality.
And back there in the past, after driving around for a while, long enough to have changed outfits, the road takes them to the top of an empty parking garage - because everything is empty here, as it always is when they're inside a dream (see: Eternal Sunshine, Wave).
We get to see them having fun, running and skipping around, letting the air rush between their fingers as reach up their hands while they drive and simply talk while the sun beats down on them.
And then we get this shot of the skyline as the sun sets:
Tumblr media
This is not Strictland, but it's also not the city which was destroyed by Z and then rebuilt into Strictland. No, this is something in between.
The city we saw in the Prologue for Halazia looked like this as it was being turned into rubble by Z who took away gravity and waged war against his own world to subjugate the population and make them believe he's a god of some sort:
Tumblr media
And this is Strictland with all its brutalist, hostile architecture, which I talked about at length here:
Tumblr media
So what city are we seeing here in Lemon Drop? Perhaps this is what Strictland might have looked like around the time Wooyoung feels they were happiest. After all, we never actually got to see the city clearly during the Fever or Treasure series. Only during Thanxx could we catch the teeniest glimpse and, there, they still had at least some trees around.
Ultimately though, since we're presently in a dream, the city could also stem from back home in the A-World - the place they first met. Or it could be a wholly dreamed up one entirely removed from reality, like the one in Eternal Sunshine.
Regardless of where they are though, we're still moving on to Hongjoong nearly getting cooked alive inside a locked car after his members walked off to leave him to die (or so it seems - it's at least 40°C in there):
Tumblr media
We never get to see who lets him out precisely, but he only escapes once it starts raining and he's with Seonghwa, Wooyoung, and Jongho after so it was likely either one or all three of them who freed him. Together, the four of them then continue to sweat inside the elevator as they head up from the parking garage:
Tumblr media
They get out on the floor labeled "pool", the elevator by then already flooded up to their knees, which further drives home the point that they're currently inside the dreamscape:
Tumblr media
After shedding their outer layers, they all jump into the pool to cool down which is also when we see the suitcase from the laundromat again - the one with the "LEMON DROP - ATZ 1024" tag:
Tumblr media
This could be a way to symbolize they're tossing all baggage from the past to move on freely - leaving all their misery from A-World behind, all the misery present-day Wooyoung now has to deal with again. Their parents, finding jobs, making a living, growing distant from his members.
Within this memory, this shared dream though, it also means they have no intention of returning to the laundromat so they might as well abandon what they packed and steal a fresh set of outfits from the same place they also stole the shopping cart from - the shopping cart they end up rolling Yeosang around in:
Tumblr media
After several flashes of Ateez running through a corridor which connects this building to the neighboring one, they continue on past an escalator before heading back to the parking garage. Along the way though, we keep getting flashes to them dancing here in front of a store:
Tumblr media
There are silhouettes of people - or more likely mannequins - in the back, which never move and seem posed somewhat randomly. The only thing I can point out there is that the figures in the second window from the right seem to be reminiscent of WooSan at the end of Eternal Sunshine with their hands connected (which would be yet another hint at the fact that this is a dream):
Tumblr media
Following this is also the first time we see a lollipop at both the beginning and end of a music video in the Golden Hour series, which could be an indicator that this is the last album before we continue on to the next one, though that remains to be seen:
Tumblr media
After some more flashes of the members goofing around, we get this shot of Wooyoung by the window. He's alone, his face cast in shadows, and he's looking out a blue-tinted city that's alive with lights and, worst of all, the trucks outside are moving:
Tumblr media
He's no longer in the dream. His members are gone. This is him in the present, living alone, thinking back to a time when he was happy - when they were happy. A time where their lives may have always been in danger, but they could also just be free, sing, dance and simply be together without the world trying to pull them in different directions, just so they could make money and survive.
Z-World was a dystopian nightmare back then, yes, he acknowledges that - thinks he's crazy for wanting to go back - but A-World is no better. It's just a different sort of hell. If only he knew the other members - especially Yunho - have come to that exact same conclusion.
What is now left in the last seconds of the music video is the post-"credit" scene which takes place back in the dreamscape. Yunho walks up to the trunk of one of the cars and opens it to a pair of black boots:
Tumblr media
The music playing here is likely a hint toward an upcoming song/the next album since what’s playing here also matches what's playing toward the end of the 5th track on the album: Bridge: The Edge of Reality - a song that seems somewhat out of place since it doesn't fit the Golden Hour series’ vibe.
Perhaps this means we’ll be heading down a darker road from here where black boots would be best suited. Might we be approaching The Black Pirates’ return, perhaps? I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Tumblr media
I feel like way too many of my posts lately have been about stupid sh*t like this so I wasn't going to comment, but i keep seeing sh*t about it on all of social media and i feel like i need to say something. Like, it's insane how fast this sh*t has taken off on Facebook, Twatter, Insta, and that god forsaken Tik Tok. The Predator Badlands trailer has dropped and motherf*ckers seemed to be mad that the starring Yautja is Black? Bro, what? Is this where we are right now? Cats are out her getting antagonized by the color of an intergalactic alien because of perceived racial distinction? Can you even apply our perception of race to the Yautja? Alright, if we're doing that, then let's really get into it. Yautja live on one big ass, hot ass, jungle planet. Melanin is absolutely necessary in that environment, according to our understanding of climate habitats. The fact that the first Predator, the Jungle Predator who fought Dutch, was so pale, would make him an outlier. It would make him the minority and i can prove it.
Tumblr media
In Predator two, at the end, after Harrigan kills the City Predator, a bunch of other Yautja step out into the light. All of them unique, all of them different shades of brown. Some lighter, some darker, all of them with a weird, fish-like counter-shading, none of them "White". The Super Predators are whole ass black. Like, legit charcoal and obsidian. No "white" Predators to be seen. Sh*t gets even more crunchy in the comics, particularly the Dark Horse takes. The closest thing a Yautja gets to White in the Predator series, are probably the ones in AvP. And, even then, they're yellow tinted, not Euro glazed. Sure, this new Yautja is smaller, darker, and kind of twinkish but that's because it's a juvenile. It's on it's Blooded hunt to be seen as a full-fledged adult. This is the first time we get to see that in film and that's being overshadowed by this stupid, goddamn, narrative. There was so much to be excited about in that trailer and I'm on here, lamenting how goddamn dumb people are about sh*t that doesn't f*cking matter.
Tumblr media
This is the first time in the Disney continuity that a connection to Weyland-Yutani has been acknowledged on film. Elle Fanning's character is an android a la Ash and David, which means there are Aliens in the world. Proper Xenomorphs and I'm not talking about the little Easter egg of a skull. Yeah, Trachtenberg tossed in a Harvester skull, the alien species from Independence Day, on that trophy wall. I caught that, friend. I didn't realize ID4 was a Fox franchise but, apparently, it is. I'd love to see those assholes crossover with Marvel. They fit better in that world. Like a better version of the Brood but i digress. For me, the most hype moment was at the end when the controversial predator in question was revealed. I wasn't looking at the design or the skin tone, i immediately geeked out on the broken tusk.
Tumblr media
A Weyland-Yutani android? A juvenile Yautja on his Blooded journey who just happens to have a broken tusk? Dare i say it? Dare i hope it? Is Badlands a secret Aliens vs. Predator prequel? Is the young Yautja with the broken tusk actually Broken tusk? The Yautja who blooded Machiko Noguchi in the comics? I've spoken about my love for Machiko at length on this blog. For me, she's the second best protagonist in the Predator/Xeno universe after Ripley. Ma is bad, ass, the first human Blooded by a Yautja, and is a whole as Japanese woman. That first AvP coming series is considered one of the best and set a lot of the lore pertaining to these two crossing over. Badlands feels like world-building. It feels like the ground work to get to that story with the colonies, and the Rhynth, and blooding of Da'dtou-di. God, between this, Prey, and Romulus, i am so hype for the future of this franchise. Especially considering there was a Fox adaption of the AvP comic that was canceled when Disney took over. So much awesome in this trailer but assholes are mad because the Yautja is dark skinned? Word?

Spoilers if you haven't seen the episode
Tumblr media
To start things off we meet Kara on Earth! I talked more about her here. Shes's dressed similarly to Android 18 when she, 17, and 16 drive to Goku's house in episode 147 of Dragon Ball Z. While watching the episode I was wondering why does Kara's hair look so familiar? Then it hit me. Kara's got Sakuya Kumashiro's hair from Tenchi in Tokyo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shout out to recent DC characters enjoy ice cream for the first time like Wonder Woman in the live action movie and Justice League animated movie, and the new DC Super Hero Girls cartoon. As a mint chocolate chip ice cream fan, good first choice of ice cream to enjoy!
Perry puts Clark and Lois on a new beat for the Metropolis "Most Eligible Single" contest because Superman was chosen to be one of the five up for that title. Cat Grant self-invites herself to join the duo to figure out who Superman is through his love life. Lois is sweating bullets at this point. At the contest we meet the potential people for winning the title, Hank Henshaw, Chandi Gupta, Byrna Brilyant, and Silver St. Cloud. I talked more about Hank Henshaw here. We see a darker more bigoted side to him this time around. Will we see him get his cyborg body and become Cyborg Superman in this season or season 3? Who knows. Season 3 is confirmed though.
Tumblr media
Dr. Byrna Brilyant is a very deep DC universe cut dating back to 1946, the golden age of comics. Back then Byrna Brilyant was an enemy to Wonder Woman going by the moniker, Blue Snowman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Byrna in the 1940s makes her first appearance in Sensation Comics #59 (1946) [W: Joye Hummel, P&I: H.G. Peter], where she was a teacher who's father created this compound called blue ice, after his death, she uses it as a way to extort this town after freezing it over for monetary gain.
Tumblr media
Byrna makes another appearance in 2010 in Power Girl #7 (2010) [W Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti, P&I: Amanda Conner, C: Paul Mounts, L: John J. Hill] where Dr. Mid-Nite and Power Girl are trying to stop Byrna from committing a robbery but the main bad guy, Vartox shoots a seduction musk rifle at Power Girl but the smell knocks out Dr. Mid-Nite and it works on Byrna, but not Power Girl. This all makes more sense if you read the comic.
Tumblr media
Byrna's next appearance post-New 52 was in Superman/Wonder Woman #4 (2014) [W: Charles Soule, P: Paulo Siqueira, I&C: Hi-Fi, L: Carlos M. Mangual] where we see Wonder Woman and Hessia battling the Blue Snowman robots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Byrna's latest appearance post-DC Rebirth is in DC: Love is a Battlefield #1 (2021) [W: Crystal Fraiser, P&I: Juan Gedeon, C:Ulises Arreola, L: Marshal Dillion, where Byrna is now gender fluid after interrupting a date between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor. Good on Wonder Woman for letting them go and hoping the realization there is a word for what Byrna was feeling would make them feel much better. So going forward if we meet Byrna again, I'll be referring to them with they/them pronouns, but if its New 52 continuity and before, Byrna will be referred to with she/her pronouns with the continuities to help clarify the pronoun usages.
Tumblr media
Chadi Gupta is also another deep cut from the DC universe because she's reference to her comic counterpart from Justice League Europe.
Tumblr media
Chandi makes her first appearance in Justice League Europe #47 (1993) [W: Gerard Joes, P: Ron Randall, I: Randy Elliot, C: Gene D'Angelo, L: Willie Schubert] where she's escaping her family and comes across the the JLE and wants to join them. Her energy projection and construct creation powers came in handy for the JLE in issue 50 where she and the rest of the JLE were able to fend off Sonar's attack and that earned her a spot on Justice League Europe as the superhero Maya.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver St. Cloud is probably one of the more prominent characters from the DC universe who showed up in MAwS. She got into the pop culture zeitgeist through the Gotham tv show when it aired.
Tumblr media
Silver St. Cloud makes her first appearance in Detective Comics #470 (1977) [W: Steven Engleheart, P: Walter Simonson, I: Al Milgrom, C: Jerry Serpe, L: Ben Oda] where she meets Bruce Wayne at a party on his yacht. She eventually becomes one of Bruce Wayne's more prominent love interests and one of the few who were suspecting Bruce to be Batman thanks to his constant disappearing.
Tumblr media
She shows up in post-new 52 in the maybe possibly out of cotinuity anthology, Legends of the Dark Knight (2014) digital comics, specifically as a cameo in issue #50, Dr. Quinn's Diagnosis [W: Jim Zub, P&I: Niel Googe, C: Kathryn Layno, L: Saida Temofonte], where Batman is getting psychoanalyzed by Harley Quinn.
Tumblr media
If you want to read a comic with a fun appearance of Silver St. Cloud give Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1 (2017) [W: Tom King, P&I: Lee Weeks, C: Lovern Kindzierski, L: Deron Bennet] a read cuz goddamn is it noir AF and beautifully drawn (a while back DC superheroes crossed over with Looney Tunes characters and its very good. They have also done it with Hanna Barbera characters as well. Give those a read too! They're all fun!)!
Tumblr media
The charity that MAwS Silver mentions was first mentioned in Superman #152 (1967) [W: Bill Finger, P&I: Al Plastino] where Superman is accepting a clock medallion for a charity event. In the comics Silver St. Cloud isn't usually working for charities, shes mostly a Gotham socialite.
Tumblr media
At the event, the MC (who gives off Funky Flashman vibes imo), asked if anyone has questions and the first to jump on that was George Taylor of the Metropolis Star. I talked about the Metropolis Star here, but for George Taylor...
Tumblr media
he actually makes his first appearance here in Action Comics #1 (1938) [W: Jerry Seigel, P&I: Joe Shuster, C: Strauss Engraving Company] where he is the editor-in-chief of the Daily Star.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the silver age, George Taylor makes his first appearance in Superman #366 (1981) [W: Bob Eozakis, P: Kurt Schaffenberger, I: Frank Chiaramonte, C: Adrienne Roy, L: John Costanza] where he assigns Perry White on the Superboy scoop to see if he's active in Metropolis. In post-Crisis on Infinite continuity, George makes a cameo appearance in Adventures of Superman #451 (1989) [W,P,&I: Jerry Ordway, C: Glenn Whitmoore, L: Albert DeGuzman] where we see George's office door.
Tumblr media
In the New 52 continuity, George Taylor makes his first appearance in Action Comics #8 (2012) [W: Grant Morrison, P: Rags Morales, I: Rick Bryant, C: Brad Anderson, L: Pat Brosseau] as editor-in-chief for the Daily Star where in the comic he's proud of Clark and encourages him to take the job at the Daily Planet.
Tumblr media
Kara and Jimmy make it into the studio where Lois, Superman, and Cat Grant are and Kara confronts Superman showing off that she's the one in the armor. She is on a two-way radio communications with someone named Primus. Whether that is Brainiac's designation when Kara is on the field or its a different character all together, there is a Primus in the DC universe, not just in the Transformers universe. Btw this isn't Kara's first time siding with an evil faction, she was part of Darkseid's Female Furies in the 2004 Superman/Batman series, specifically in issue #11. You might have also seen it happen in the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse animated movie too.
Tumblr media
Primus aka Pren makes his first appearance in Green Lantern #141 (1981) [W: Marv Wolfman, P&I: Joe Stanton, C: Carl Gafford, L: John Costanza] where he is the leader of the alien group, the Omega Men from the Vega star system. They jump Hal when he and Carol Ferris were on vacation thinking Hal is part of the Citadel, an extraterrestrial empire that is conquering the star system the Omega Men are in.
Tumblr media
Primus/Pren NuParr makes his New 52 first appearance in Deathstroke #9 (2012), but gets a more prominent role in the Omega Man limited series from 2015 [panel from The Omega Men #1 (2015) W: Tom King, P&I: Barnaby Bagenda, C: Romulo Farjardo Jr., L: Pat Brosseau]. In this continuity, the Citadel is now a corporation that was exploiting Krypton's destruction by by selling stabilized planet cores to other worlds. So for the record, I actually do want a 25th century Star Trek series. I'm even fine with doing Star Trek: Legacy, as a series about Seven and Raffi on the Enterprise (though I'd prefer they call it something else, and i don't want Jack Crusher to be there). But if they're going to do it, then I bloody well hope that they get all of the writers together in a room and actually systematically map out the state of the universe in the 25th century, and what ramifications all of the huge, earth-shattering events that have happened since Deep Space Nine have had.
What *is* the state of the Federation, given all of the moral compromises it's been shown to have made? What does it mean that an entire generation of Starfleet personnel are now ex-Borg? What does it mean that a faction of Borg are now aligned with the Federation? What do the other powers in the Alpha Quadrant make of this? How many members of Starfleet's older generation are now dead? What's going on with the Romulan Free State and its refugee crisis? Are the Klingons taking advantage of this situation? Is there any prospect of peace with the Changelings, given that they actually seem to have largely legitimate grievances this time around? Are you going to repatriate the Rogue Changelings to the Dominion, or hold them indefinitely? And if the latter...what does the Dominion make of this? What's on the other side of that transwarp conduit? How are the Zhat Vash reacting to the Androids now being a Federation protectorate? What are the major threats of the 25th century? Why were Androids covered by the Synth Ban but Holograms apparently not? Did Bajor join the Federation? What's the state of the Cardassian Union 30 years after the end of the Dominion War? Etc. Etc. Etc.
And I really don't think that Terry Matalas, with his hyperfocus on legacy characters and Easter Eggs and his complete indifference to exploring consequences, is the right man to head this up.

Shungiku Nakamura importance
Shungiku Namakura is a mangaka who started her career in 1998 with Yaoi stories. She is signed in the manga topic with a lot of famous stories like Junjou Romantica (Pure Hearted Romance), the Junjou Romantica spin-off called Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (The World's Greatest First Love) and Hybrid Child. Her manga stories also have age gaps between the couples.
However, she is coy about her art style even it's still being a big influence in the manga arts nowaday.

Hybrid Child
The history is about three couples. There are android childrens and their owners who afterward fell in love with them. Also, all the couples are connected in some way that we could call fate. Hybrid Child is for the tragedy-hearted lovers, since it has moments when the characters need to face the death.

Junjou Romantica
It's the most famous Shungiku Nakamura's manga. Release in 2002, Junjou Romantica is about adult lovers. The couple's stories are divided by Junjou Romantica (Misaki Takahashi and Akihiko Usami), Junjou Egoist (Hiroki Kamijou and Nowaki Kusama), Junjou Terrorist (Yoh Miyagi and Shinobu Takatsuki) and Junjou Mistake (Ryuuichiro Isaka Kaoru Asahina).
The first couple apresented for the reader is the Misaki and Akihiko. In the beginning Misaki discovered that Akihiko was in love with his brother and he feels pity for Akihiko since his brother is going to marry in a stable relationship.

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi
The story scenario is in the Shoujo manga publishing with the main couples being Ritsu Onodera+Masamune Takano, Shouta Kisa+kou Yukina, and Chiaki Yoshino+Yoshiyuki Hatori.
Since Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is a Junjou Romantica's spin-off there's easter-eggs mixed in the chapters.
Tumblr media
After all, why Shungiku Nakamura is important for the Yaoi community?
The answer is: she is a tremendous phenomenom. And when we are talking about he 2000s this is very significant. Some years earlier, in 90s the public was debating about the Yaoi stories and if it could be an awful thing for the present and future.
Nevertheless, after the Internet boom between 95 and 00 years the Yaoi content started being acessible for the mass and reached overseas like America and Europe. Shungiku Nakamura was the precursors Yaoi mangas that touched the hearts with her light, romantic and dramatical love stories.
Tumblr media
Finally, her manga is still on top sellers and a big inspiration for the current Yaoi manga (especially her art style).
Shungiku Nakamura will always be a good reading for everyone who loves good romance with some angst. There's no better advice than recommending a Shungiku Nakamura love story.
Thank you for reading this far :).

It gets me people thought Shadow can ask other Sonic chars about his past when his game came out
What, that he committed war crimes out of misled revenge? It doesn't really address anything. Nor did they personally witness the massacre 50 years ago
For whether he's the original or not, Rouge doesn't know, Omega is just "yeah there might be the OG to ref, but I dunno", no one else even is aware of the androids, and Shadow literally sees the Shad Androids after the Egg Albatross fight smashed. He literally won't learn anything besides "oh no, I might be fake"
The only person he can learn shit from is Eggman, but uh, good luck there, that evil dipshit isn't gonna squeal. He didn't in the endings. Even in Last Story it's a last minute ultimatum of dying strictly to motivate Shadow. And it's a verrrry delayed Easter egg
The fandom weirdly acts like it's no biggie to get answers entirely cuz they ignore that meta does not mean that other chars automatically will know shit
Same for weirdly ignoring he moved on. I've seen people deadass say he should've time traveled in 06 to save Maria. Like why, Mephiles is the way bigger priority, regardless how sloppy he's handled
I blame X's dumbass way of handling the amnesia. Literally made "Maria" a trigger word
Tumblr media
And no, 4Kids didn't BS this scene, it's straight up that memetic
People really out here forgetting that the only people that know anything about Shadow's past and the reason for his creation... don't actually have the best intentions, to put it mildly.
• Dr. Eggman? Like you said, he knows, but he'd sooner take it to the grave than just politely tell Shadow anything (unless Shadow helps Eggman somehow).
Tumblr media
• Black Doom? Also, not a reliable narrator. The dude holds the idea of giving the answers that Shadow is chasing like a carrot on a stick, and even then, only delivers in the form of half-truths; all to essentially coax him into giving him the Chaos Emeralds.
Tumblr media
• The GUN Commander? That man's the textbook definition of "Revenge Before Reason." He hates Shadow's fucking guts because he blames him for GUN (the very organization that he's apparently in charge of) raiding the ARK one fateful day; so much so that he was perfectly willing to use Shadow as a scapegoat, and even thought that using a regular ass pistol against a speedy talking hedgehog was a good idea.
Yeah, it's not as simple as "just ask ANYONE ELSE"
